Don't know if this will help anyone or not, but I kept getting new batteries for my 901. The new batteries would work great for a week, then they would do that thing where they light up, but do not produce vapor. Well, after cleaning the contacts with cloth, and trying alcohol and just about everything else, I decided to take a closer look. After taking apart one of my batteries. I noticed that the inside contact was isolated from the outside contact by a small silicon ring. Basicly this ring holds the center contact in place by friction. It turns out that the charger was pushing the center contact back just enough for it to not make contact with the atomizer.

All I had to do was slip a paper clip gently into the hole on the battery contact, and wiggle it back and forth a bit. This instantly cleared up the problem on all of my batteries.

Just thought I'd post it in case it helps anyone else... I was searching through the forum like mad for a solution and never found one. Not that one wasn't posted, but I never found one.

For anyone who has the light but no vapor, this is your issue. No need to return you batteries.

Good information here. Just don't want too many people to skim past it.

Thanks again er,,,Krotch for this useful information.:thumb:

Sorry, know this sounds dumb, but would it be possible to put a picture up of what you do with the paper clip - do you have the battery taken apart when you do the paper clip thing? I'm too old to get the jest of exactly what you do, at least that's the excuse I'm gonna use - really want to know how to do this.
Thanks, Darlene

First I am going to copy my post from the other battery thread that links to this one:

Beautiful discovery...

Haven't even tried, but trust this is the issue. Have one that only works on some atomizers.

Basically my note to self is not to screw the batteries too far into the charger, maybe even leave them a tad bit on the loose side.

There needs to be a sticky of your post (well maybe I should try it first, haha)...Good find! Thanks for the info...

So I did try this on the one battery that wouldn't work with the other atomizer and it works like a champ.

Makes perfect sense. I would guess the inner contact is designed to push in to self adjust to variances of atomizers (of course an o-ring would need to be there to not short the contact in any case even if this isn't designed to self adjust). My guess it is doing what it is supposed to.

Wonder how many batteries go back because of this (not to be confused with the stuck switch which is a legitimate defect)...

Just be careful on how tight you put it in the charger.
And if for some reason the LED glows but no vapor then the contact just needs to be pulled out slightly.

Now I am just looking for a better method then a paper clip (e.g. to pull straight out), but I don't want to short out the contacts by using pliers or tweezers or anything.

The paperclip works, though. Just wish I could pull straight out rather than wiggle out...

Here is a pic off of myvaporstore.com of their battery (don't think they will mind):

We are talking about the little center post that has the hole in it on the battery and yes you would do this with the battery removed from the atomizer. Basically you just need to pull it out very slightly. The paperclip method, while not perfect works to do this, just make sure you don not put it too deep into the battery!

You are slightly wiggling and pulling out a bit The paper clip doesn't need to be in there more than 1/16" 1/8" to do this.

Essentially you our trying to slightly pull the center post out straight, but the with a paper clip inside the hole you are kind of wiggling it in an effort to pull it out. If you had small enough tweezers or pliers that could grab that center post and pull it out slightly that might work, BUT IMO this could contact both the inner and outer piece causing a short if you are using metal pliers (but I mention the pliers to give you a better idea of what you are trying to do with the paper clip). The positive and negative terminal are the inner center post and the opposite polarity is the female threads so bridging those with something metal is not a good idea IMO...

Hope this helps give a better understanding...

Ok well I have a problem with 2 of my batteries too and was wondering if any of you could help? I have a 901 and when I have these 2 batteries atached to the atomizer the coil automatically heats up and will just get hotter and hotter till I unscrew it. Like I said just those 2 batteries my other 2 work fine. Any way to fix that??

Wow I haven't been on for a few weeks, I didn't think this post would stay alive like it has. But I did end up sending that battery in for a replacement and the new one worked fine. But while I was waiting for that my other battery broke. I put it in my pocket and when I sat down it bent the cig, not enough to break it just enough to pull the battery threads out of the battery it self, and after clamping it back in It wouldn't work so I pulled it back out and the positive wire broke off. I can solder but not in such tight spaces and such small connections.

Epuffer: I had the same problem with one of my mini fogger batteries, al it took was a few taps on a table like glock said and it fixed it.

I have been using my 901 starter kit atomizers and batteries for 2 months now.. pretty good life considering. 2 of the batteries constantly turn on by themselves and won't stop. I tried the paperclip method suggested here after trying to tap both ends of the battery on the counter. Well, the sharp end of the paper clip tore the plunger inside and now both are completely dead, so if anyone is going to try this PLEASE BE CAREFUL!! It didn't matter to much to me if I killed them because I couldn't use them the way they were anyways.

I just hope my new 501 get's here from eastmall soon! I don't feel like buying analogs again after 2 months.. :(

Yesterday I received my 901 from dietsmokes. At first it seemed to do okay, but the battery quickly died, which was okay as I figured these things probably are need dead after sitting on the shelf.

I put them one battery in to charge overnight. The charger light went from red to green - great! However, when I plug it into the atomizer the LED will be a steady blue and then start flashing red and then nothing. It will not draw or anything.

I've cleaned the contacts, blew through the LED, tapped the battery (only for it to repeat the blue to flashing red).

I did notice it quickly heats up the atomizer if I try to suck on it.

I would hope that owning the thing less than one day things like this aren't suppose to happen. It would also be wonderful if there were an instruction booklet or at least a web site to troubleshoot it.

With my limited experience, I really enjoy it and wish to gods this thing would work!

If the atomizer is heating up then the battery is working. Sounds like you have either flooded the atomizer or need more e-liquid on it. do you have another atomizer you can test on?

I was wondering how often you have to buy replacement parts for the screwdriver? Its a little more expensive than anything else, but if it works better for hardcore smokers it might be worth the investment.

After having all of the batteries fail on the 901, I started using only the M401 and the 510. In 5 months I've only lost 3 attys and all my batteries are still good. The M401 in particular satisfies me completely.

I wouldn't mind trying a screwdriver, but at this rate it would have to be maintenance free for years to make cost of ownership a positive factor.
