I'm fairly new, tried a few things and figured a few things out, and want to pass on my experience to other newcomers in the hopes of helping.

I am now using mini-protank 2 and protank 2 with a vision spinner 1100 battery and would recommend it if you are looking for a place to go

First batteries: It really pays to have a strong battery because at first I was using the protank2 with a small ego batteries and it was a little hit and miss, I kept on cleaning and replacing coils thinking they were the issue- they were not, I couldn't believe the difference with a bigger battery. Same protank 2 with the same coil that was several days old was barely working, when I just switched the battery with my new vision battery I was finally puffing consistently like a dragon. Lesson 2: get a bigger battery because power (voltage) is just important to gaping. Lesson 2: having the ability to control voltage is a nice feature. If you take a hit and it's gurgling in the tank just turn the voltage up, if you take a hit and it's tight or too hot turn the voltage down. You can "dial it in" to perfection very quickly

Now the tanks: I strongly prefer the pro tank/bottom coil approach compared to the top coil cartomizer approach. It seems a lot less "finicky" than top coil cartomizers and you can still get all the throat hit you want (which is the one aspect some say is better with a top coil). Get the miniprotank2 instead of the protank2 if you are unsure as they will work just as well (perhaps better) and they look more elegant. I have 3 of them, so I'll be able to put different flavored juices in each without mixing them up. I'm still glad I have a protank2 since it holds a ton of juice and that's nice for relaxing at home in the evening. Lesson: Protank makes very good quality products. (Note: I have read some mixed reviews elsewhere on the protank3 so I am not going to try that)

so in short, I recommend mini pro tank and a vision spinner which should cost you around 30-35 bucks. Then get at least an extra pack of atomizers, or "heads" as they are called which should cost you 5-6 bucks for a pack of 5. they come in different ohms, 1.5, 1.8, 2.2, 2.4 go for the middle road if you are not sure, I think the ability to control the voltage on the spinner battery will get you where you want to be anyway.

Now the juice: Heather's heavenly vape has something called "Heavenly Vape" that is really yummy for daytime. I also like their mocha java for morning. the oompa is pretty good too for the evenings. I am also looking forward to trying some stuff from Mom and Pop next.

Good luck and happy vaping to everyone, no matter what you are using!

Thank you for this. Gonna email it to my friend who just switched from smoking to vaping. I wish I had known alot of what you explained when I first started. Too much trial and error and too much money and I finally have a decent setup.

My friend, like alot of ex-smokers/new vapers wanted something small like the 808 battery and baby clearo I was letting her puff on. I tried explaining to her the flavor/vapor and such was better with a bigger/stronger battery but I guess she had to learn by herself lol. Her first purchase she settled on a little ego-t battery and a disposable clearo to start. Even with the small switch between the 808 and the ego-t she noticed the difference in flavor/vapor and told me, you know you are right, I like this better than little battery you loaned me lol.

I imagine, like alot of new vapers (myself included) when she gets used to it, she'll want a better battery (I already encouraged her to get a Mini ProTank II as her permanent clearo) and your post explains it perfectly :).

Thanks again!

I'm sure the will. These 1100's are real mombo's! the small egos I was using were probably 650s which could be good for back ups but I was using them pretty hard for several weeks.

Additional lesson on tanks: take off the tank from the battery before filling instead of being lazy like me. I think that made the batteries get gunky which probably didn't help matters,

Agree with you on the Vision Spinners. I have 2, an 1100 and a 1300, and they last me more than a day and hit good. Always reliable for me these past few months. I also like my Protank 2, even though it's annoying sometimes. I like the flavor is gives. Some say it's muted and I agree, but I prefer a more mellow flavor because vaping all day with a strong flavor gets tiring. Which is why I probably won't be buying another dual coil Aspire. I'm not a fan of the overboard flavor on it (it is a very good tank though).

I also I like Heather'sHV. None of her juices so far reeked and tasted like thick pungent perfume, like two juices from popular vendors I just bought. Unvapable.

I dry swab my batteries out every other day or so with a q-tip, to keep the contact clean (the flat button inside the collar). A wad of tissue can do the trick in a pinch.

Update on Kanger Protank2 vs. Mini version: I like the larger Protank2 better as 1) it is easier to fill 2) it hold more juice and 3) it stays together in my pocket whereas the mini version often comes undone leading to problems of spilling and needing to reassemble. Still, of I can train myself to not put it in my pocket - the mini version does pull a different vape draw which is nice to mix things up a bit.

All best vaping,

DD
