Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself as a newbie. :) And share a bit of my smoking history.

I just turned 27 at the end of July. I've been smoking for about 11 years. Just about every adult member of my family is either a smoker, or former smoker...with the exception of my parents. I started out smoking with the "cool kids" in High School. Splitting packs of smokes between friends. Then gradually got up to smoking a pack of Marlboro Light Menthol 100s a day (had to start buying cartons instead of a few packs at a time). I continued that for a few years and eventually slowed my pace down to about a 1/2 pack a day.

After cigarettes had changed to Fire Safe, I needed to find something else. I wasn't ready to quit, but the FSC were making me sick. (Yes I know smoking is making me sick in the long run as well. But I wanted to smoke without getting dizzy, nauseous and headaches every time I lit up. Ahh addiction.) So I tried the roll your own. Got the blank filters, the little machine and used the tobacco out of the FSC. That didn't work for me.

After that I tried numerous non-fire safe filtered cigars. I ended up with a brand that worked for me. And they were cheaper! I could pick up a whole carton for the cost of a couple of packs of regular cigarettes. But I can only get them from one store locally. I recently found out that store will no longer be carrying them and I'd have to travel about 45 minutes to their other locations. That's not really something I want to do. Plus, after smoking these filtered cigars for about 2 years, they are kinda getting to me. I'm not enjoying the taste, smell (stink) and overall physical feeling I'm getting from these anymore. I've even cut back so that a pack will now last me 2-3 days. But...I'm still not ready to quit. Waaaa, what am I going to do?!? So that lead me to research e-cigs.

Over the past week or so I've googled, watched YouTube reviews and found this amazing forum! I had NO IDEA vaping was such a big thing!! So many options of different suppliers, supplies and don't even get me started on the mods! This is a whole new world. It's nearly overwhelming.

After doing some research and seeing how vaping has worked so well for hard-core & long term smokers, I think this could work for me. I went out on my birthday and picked up a disposable menthol Blu e-cig. (I know not many on here are cheerleaders of Blu, but it was the only thing local enough that seemed to be worth it. I'd rather spend $10 on something just to see if e-cigs will even be an option for me.) Well, I tried it and it seems to be working for me. (Although their menthol tastes like a smoky mint chocolate to me.) When I feel a nic fit coming on I take a couple of puffs on the Blu and I can go without smoking for a while. I'm switching between smoking my 'analogs' and vaping on the Blu. I'm hoping I can keep this up until I can order and receive a 78mm starter kit from Smokeless Image!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and give some history. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. I'm looking forward to leaving behind all of the negatives that go with smoking and getting into the lovely new world of vaping!

I think for many of us - we knew pretty quickly if this was going to work or not.

I bought an ego-T as my first set up. The 1st drag I took - I threw my cigarettes in the garbage. I was a 2 pack a day marlboro smoker too. There was absolutely no reason to smoke analogs anymore. This was using some crappy juice too, but I still vape it from time to time to remember what it was like to vape for the 1st time.

Welcome aboard! There is definitely a lot of stuff to research. I actually started in 2009 with a GreenSmoke unit. I used it for maybe a month before it hit the shelf. Little over a month ago I did all the researching too and ended up buying a Lavatube + tank. I then also got a Ego-C Twist and tank as well. Both are great units and I vape both of them all the time. My next buy might be a traditional sized cig style unit so I can take it out more easily.

You should try getting blank cartos and filling them up yourself with different juices to try. I currently vape a 1:1 mix of Prothol and Volcano Menthol Burst. Working pretty well for me right now.

I ended up 100% quitting analogs the day I got my LavaTube and have honestly not really craved a analog. This is coming from a 18 year pack a day smoker. I was on PAarliament Menthol Lights or Marlboro Menthol Lights for the majority of those years. Also did some Kools and Newports too.

Hi and welcome. I think you'll like the Volts when they arrive. Also, if you post a photo of yourself on their forum with your volt they send you another free battery. Lots of people recommended SI to me after I had actually placed my first order, and I can see why. Like you I started on whatever I could find first, then discovered this large and amazing community.

Blu actually makes a decent disposable, that's where I started. It's just their kit that is horrible.

The smokeless image volt is a good choice. Here's a video on it. Make sure you get at least the 2 battery kit. With the 15% off coupon you under $40. I highly suggest you pay the extra $1 for the 78mm battery. Then once you get it, go to their subforum in here and find the sticky "faces of volt". If you post a picture of yourself, they will send you a free battery, bottle of juice or pack or cartos

Hello All, I am a noobie too! My adventure started with the Blu disposable and I loved it instantly, I purchased the Blu Premium 100 kit online and haven't had a analog since. I discovered quickly the batteries for the Blu ecigs did not last very long and became quite frustrated, but I refused to go back to smoking those nasty analogs. I love the flavor of Blu cartridges and ordered a bunch more and another battery. The problem I had was always having to keep those little batteries charged. I just received a Bloog kit and do enjoy the longer lasting battery and the flavors are nice too! Here's my thoughts on the whole battery issues - Save yourself some frustration and get a passthrough battery! It totally enhances the flavors!

...just my :2c::2c:

Yeah Joe Petner, I think vaping will work for me. I have the need for the whole function of smoking - hand to mouth, inhale, exhaling smoke. I'm really glad there is a seemingly healthier alternative. I'm hoping to be able to throw my remaining analogs in the garbage when I get my kit going. Congrats on being analog free!

ams30gts - Thanks! Yeah there is soo much stuff to figure out and learn about. Ohms, mahs, mgs, voltage, all the different batteries, cartos, tanks, flavors, etc. I feel like I'm going for a degree in Vaping! Ha! I am currently planning to buy the 78mm Volts from Smokeless Image. And I think for Christmas (if I can wait that long, lol) I'll look into getting bigger batteries and clearos or tanks. I'm going to try some different flavors, just to see what works for me. How is the Volcano Menthol, is it similar to Marlboro Menthol Lights? And where do you get it from? Congrats on quitting analogs that day!

Kiwivap - Hi and thanks for the welcome and the info! Yep, like I said in my original post I kept seeing SI come up with great reviews on their products and customer service. And so glad I found ECF!

Mroutlaw - Thanks so much for the info! And that great video! I actually watched another one of your videos during my research. I don't remember which video it was, but I know I learned something from it. :) Like you, I try to save as much as I can, but get the most bang for my buck. I did a lot of price comparison. I'm actually planning on getting SI's Pro Starter Kit with 2 78mm batteries, a sampler pack of carts, the Mega PCC, USB Wall Adapter, USB battery charger and a different sampler pack of carts. I saw on your video that you use your Apple USB wall adapter. I have a couple of wall adapters from cell phones, can those be used instead of buying the wall adapter from SI? The input on them says 100-240V - 5-/60Hz 0.2A, one output says 4.8V --- 1.0A, and the other says 5.1V --- 0.7A. Sorry I'm not very knowledgeable on voltages. Can you tell me what the 15% coupon code is? Thanks for all your help and info.
