I actually think this is not a bad price for the kit, as long as it comes with the charger and charging cable as well. Buying 2 650 mAh ego batteries will often cost more than $25. A box of 5 cartos is $5.95 or more. The charger and cable is more than $10 bought separately from a kit.

Clove juice is notorious for cracking clearos, so use it with the cartos. If you buy Vision 510 Nano clearomizers, you can still use the cones since they are the same diameter as the cartos.

It is very close to the kit I started with, which was this one (which of course I paid a lot more for): ElectronicStix.Com · Original Joye eGo Starter Kit with 510 Atomizers (650 mAh Kit)

It was a good jumping off point. I still use the 650 batteries when I go out and the charger works on my Twists. I started with that kit, then got some clearos & vivi novas, then a 1000mAh battery, then two Twists, then...

Yes, this is similar to my kit (which I also paid more for) except I added a passthrough to mine. I was afraid to run out of power for vaping!

Edit - Darn it, Ocelot, you are killing me with your typing skillz!!! I read your blog ages ago....:)

Fishcakes - there are clearly tons of choices out there. You will make a decision, and purchase something. Then, you will purchase something else...it's inevitable and educational. I had purchasing paralysis for about 2 weeks looking for the best deal and then got so frustrated that I placed an order with a site that got great reviews and seemed to have a good price.

I would still recommend some cartos for the clove ejuice or a polypropylene tank (which still require cartos). AND, when you get drip tips for your cartos, consider some metal ones so that they don't get melted by the clove ejuice.

These little puppies, surprisingly, also stand up to strong juices. Another member told me they would, but I was skeptical, so I tried to kill one. It's been sitting in the most lethal juice I have for a few days and still hasn't cracked: CE3 XL Clearomizer [CE3XL] - $8.50 : Vapors Choice, Ecigarettes & Parts

Yes, these (I think) are polypropylene. Beware the plastic drip tip that comes with them. Maybe pick up a metal one just in case? You don't want to inhale melted plastic (eeewwww)>

They aren't polypro, I can't remember what they're made of. They are clear, so I assumed they were polycarbonate and was skeptical when I was told they wouldn't melt. Cinnamon-based juices are my main vape, so almost everything I have (including drip tips) are glass or polypro. I am always on the look-out for small products I can use when I don't want to fill up a whole tank. I have been doing a happy dance since finding the CE3s (aka Phoenix bottom coils).

Seriously. stoneface, ocelot you guys are blowing my mind. I think the best choice ive made since deciding to take up vaping instead of analogs is to join this forum

I got so much great help when I joined (some from Ocelot herself) that I like to try to pay it forward when I can contribute. Happy vaping!

I don't mean to hijack the thread at all, but I've seen some of the CE3s at other vendors that look "frosted" like polypro. It's good to know, thanks!

Edit: See, we can always learn more and more about this stuff....

Vaping has a learning curve - an on-going one - there is no way around it, but I hope people won't spend quite as much as I did to get a good grasp of what is involved. I don't feel like I wasted a single dime on any of the gear. I still use almost everything I bought or have given it to friends just starting out (except for the stuff that melted, of course).

In theory, a 650 battery is supposed to last about 6 hours. I get about 4 or so. I originally bought 2 650mAh batteries and a 900mAh battery (passthrough that you can plug in and use while it charges). I can go through all 3 in a day, but that is when I am sitting around with them like pacifiers. As long as you are near electricity, you should be okay using one and charging one.

Of course, you will soon be tempted to buy more toys. I was, and I did...several many more....

Ok, one more question and ill stop (i promise). How long will the kit recommended by ocelot last a moderate vaper? (Assuming i go easy on it)

eGo type batteries are usually said to last about 300 charges (YMMV). The life span of things like clearos depends on a lot of factors, such as how often you use them (like if you rotate or use just one), the thickness of the juice, if you rinse it out often (I killed a few over cleaning them). They are basically little pieces of cheap plastic, so cherish each day they survive. You will see people come on here and stress about a clearo not lasting more than a week or so...but...ummm...how much is a pack of cigarettes?

OK - one more post and I'll stop, I promise:) There is tons of information to gather when you are first starting, so just pace yourself and educate as much as possible. Jump in and buy something - I promise it will work out okay. You will have to buy more clearos eventually, just like Ocelot said. I personally bought about a dozen of a couple of different types when I started so that I could figure out what folks meant by the top coil experience vs the bottom coil experience (I like bottom coils mostly, for example). If you get something to start, it's a good start...you start to learn what you like or even what you don't. If you don't vape a lot, you won't need juice right away. I bought about 100ml to start, and it lasted me about 6 weeks. If you end up vaping more than you thought, no problem - buy more juice (it's an experimenting opportunity! Try a new flavor you think you might like with one you do like) and it will still be cheaper/better than analogs. I also don't think you can go wrong with an ego twist - it is incredibly versatile, and I still use mine often eventhough I have branched out to more "advanced" pvs.

Edit: you could also consider coming to Vapefest NY on Long Island (I think March 23 weekend). You will get to meet some vendors, some fellow vapers, and look at all of this stuff in real life.
