Hey Guys

Just registered and wanted to stop and say hey. I am new to vaping... i am using an Atmos Bullet and cartomizers and eliquid from mr. E's.

I wanted to ask, is it normal for cartomizers to start off with a very bad taste, sometimes never improving. I disassembled some of the cartos that I was using and all of them were burnt or had dark residue at the bottom, one was burnt pretty badly on the inside :-x. Out of a pack of 5 Smoktech cartos, i found that only two worked well. This time i am buying boge cartos. I thought that I did adequately fill them, i tried some filling from the bottom with the rubber tips and some just dripped from the top.

Welcome to ECF!

Sorry I don't think I can help you, I don't use an Atmos. But I'm sure someone here can help out. I tried looking on the web for the Atmos and all I could find was something that was used for products not nic juice related... but rather for dry herbs and waxy products. I could be wrong but all I found suggested that the Atmos was for another use entirely..?

Hi

It doesn't sound like you are priming them enough. It shouldn't taste bad or burnt, but if it does burn you'll never get the taste out. It takes a bit of practice to fill them correctly. The liquid has to soak down and the batting/filler material saturated. It should look almost slushy when you look down into it.

Had a very similar experience with Red Dragon cartomizers in the beginning as well. I realized the pre-filled ones were coming practically dry and that first hit would just burn them.

There are a few really good videos out there on the condom method. PBusardo has a couple on youtube. I'm sure there's more (and possibly better ones if you don't care for him). That seems to be the best way to get full and complete saturation. Even makes brutal red dragon cartos vape so so.

As for this atmos thing... It sounds like it's maybe direct unregulated voltage? Higher resistance maybe help? Try the same cartos on a friends device?

My minds eye pictured something like a mechanical device that just fired a straight six or seven volts no matter what like a mechanical mod but designed essentially as a pot for melting wax with a convenient 510 connection on it? I guess the way you described it I figured defs not a good pv, perhaps a better crafting device.

The atmos bullet comes with a cartridge that is for waxes and herbs but you can use the battery on any 510 cartomizer. I am assuming the voltage is about 4v because thats what the charger takes. I am using the 2ohm version, not for tanks i am using them alone.

If it's a 3.7v battery, 2.0Ω is low, but it shouldn't burn on contact. What make are they, do you know? Are they single or dual coil? Ocelot is right, make sure that your cartomizers are saturated with eliquid and be extra careful when the battery first comes off the charger and the voltage is temporarily higher (4.2v or so). Or consider switching to higher resistance cartos (2.4-2.6Ω range). Do you have a multimeter? Can you check the resistance of your cartos and/or the voltage of your battery?

Sorry I can't be of more help but I'm unfamiliar with your device.

I am actually interested in vaping pipe and cigarette tobacco, E-Liquids, and essential oils like mint, chamamile, fruits, etc. From what I gather, the Bullet can do this, but I'm not sure about it's quality, so am open to other suggestions. I have a Vapor King (KR808), but since it uses e-cig cartomizers with poly filling, I don't think it can be used for oils, and of course, it won't work with tobacco. But that does make me think. Maybe, the bullet can't work with cartomizers for e-cigarettes. Have you tried filling the ones that come with it with e-liquid? Those use a ceramic heating element, instead of a wick or filling. You may have better luck that way.
As for cartomizers having a burnt taste, I've never seen this. But I've also never filled my own, being that I'm totally blind, and only recently found a way that I might be able to do this, hence the interest in a vaporizer.

That makes no sense to me.

No its just a pen style vape that happens to come with a dry use cartomizer, its the same width and threading as 510 ecig cartos.

I wouldnt recommend any pen style vape for dry herbs if you cant handle any combustion, they just dont vaporize in those cartridges very well and some always gets combusted at the bottom. There really arent any good portable vapes for dry herbs.
