Hello all,

So after a bad experience last night, destroying one of my 4$ cartos, Im a bit hesitant to use the straight VG mixes i have in either the last MDC i have or the second last ce2 cartomizer i have. Ive heard that pure VG mixes are often carto killers, and thats because the liquid is not viscous enough to flow throughout the filler, or in the case of the ce2, the string.

I was wondering if a pro could give me a step by step on how to dilute my pure VG mixes with things other then PG. I would like to use water or something. I heard you could use vodka, but im wondering is there any issues with vaping alcohol? I would really like for water to work lol.

if it helps my VG mixes are cotton candy 10 ml Nill nic, and Strawberry-kiwi 10 Ml low 6mg nic.

thanks for any and all help, only have a ml of the VG/PG 60/40 stuff left and im gettin worried! haha

In Order:
  1. Open clean empty bottle
  2. Drop 18 drops of too thick VG into clean empty bottle
  3. Drip 2 drops of distilled water into open bottle with 20 drops of too thick VG
  4. Close new bottle and shake
  5. Test flow

If still too thick add another drop and test again. If that is still too thick add another drop of distilled water and test. Stop here as this is getting close to too much water.

Once you find what works, then apply the same ratio to the remaining liquid.

Buy some purified water at the grocery store. Ideally it should be labeled "Distilled Water", but I've used water labeled "purified" with no problem.

While you're out, hit up the drug store or Walmart or something and look in the beauty aisle (or ask a clerk) for small empty bottles for travel lotions and makeup and stuff -- they'll work. Then hit up the "dosage aids" section of the drugstore, or ask the clerk where to find syringes to give medicine to a small child. They should have a syringe labeled in ml there (the needle's blunt, nobody will think you're a junkie :) ).

Then, of course, add like a dozen empty 5-10 ml bottles and some blunt syringes to your next vaping order. While you're at it, order some PG (propylene glycol), which can also be used to cut VG.

hmmm, do you know anything about the health effects of PG and VG? its the only reason why im deterred from ordering stuff that has PG in it, from what ive read inhalation of PG may not be the greatest for you, or skin contact. Theres no definite proof but MSDS's state that it might cauze central nervous system damage while MSDS's for VG say it is totally harmless in all ways shapes and forms

If you're reading MSDS's then you know that it is for the substance in its normal state and for hazards in a commercial enviroment. (Or as a liquid and large quantities.)

PG has had a number of studies on the inhalation of the vapor and has been recognized as GRAS by the US FDA for decades. PG vapor is also been used to treat lung transplant patients. (GRAS=Generally Recognized As Safe)

I have not seen too many studies of inhalation of VG vapor.

There is PG in your store bought cake icing, your toothpaste, your personal lubercant (like KY Jelly), and the list goes on and on. It is also used as a carrier for medication that has to be absorbed by the skin and that is the reason so many DIY mixers obtain PG from a local compounding pharmacy.

Not really sure what you are reading that says VG is harmless and PG is a horrible. Do you avoid concerts, haunted houses, and plays that use fog machines because of the PG vapor from the machines too? (See, it is everywhere)

# As a nontoxic antifreeze for winterizing drinking water systems, and in applications where the used antifreeze eventually will be drained into the soil, water, or a septic system[8]
# As a less-toxic antifreeze in solar water heating systems
# As a solvent used in mixing photographic chemicals, such as film developers
# In cryonics
# As a working fluid in hydraulic presses
# As a coolant in liquid cooling systems
# To regulate humidity in a cigar humidor
# As the killing and preserving agent in pitfall traps, usually used to capture ground beetles
# As an additive to pipe tobacco to prevent dehydration
# To treat livestock ketosis
# As the main ingredient in deodorant sticks
# To deice aircraft[9]
# As an ingredient in UV or blacklight tattoo ink
# As a lubricant in air conditioning compressors

When reading this stuff, it makes me question the PG.

I know its in stuff like toothpaste and what not, but so is fluoride and that is most definitly poisonous to the human body, admittly it is in low amounts, but even in the low amounts they always say you should never swallow it. My dentist has told me never to swallow toothpaste as its severly poisonous to the stomach.

So yeah, it may seem okay, but they allow the sale of mcdonalds to you which is most definitly not okay for you. A cheeseburger can last for years without rotting. I know im not inhaling mcdonalds cheesburgers here, but the point im getting at is they sell stuff that is bad for you all the time.

these msds do not apply to the consumer grade PG? only commericial? and whats the difference between the consumer grade the commercial?

Oh, I forgot to mention, yeah, make sure your VG or PG is labeled USP, to confirm that it's marked safe for consumption.

As far as *trusting* when they say it's safe for consumption, well, cigarettes are legal, so I understand where you're coming from. E-cigs are generally unregulated and I have the feeling a lot of us like it that way. You'll ultimately have to decide for yourself what you're comfortable putting in your body.

The MSDS's do not refer to the grade. They are for commercial Quantities, or amounts.

Grab the MSDS for common household cleaning chemicals and see the handling precautions and spill proceedures. You don't need to follow the same processes because you are handling much smaller quantites.

Now, because something is used in commercial and industrial applications, it makes you question it? So what are your thoughts on Water? How about veggy oil? Dawn dishwashing liquid was used to move a massive bridge last year too.

Yes, if you put ground beetles in a pool of PG they will die, but they would do the same if they were prevented from breathing by any means, as would you. It is used in tattoo ink, um, yeah, everybody is keeling over from their tattoos, so we should avoid that one. It is used as a component of anti-freeze and so is water. It is given to milking cows to keep them from getting a diabetic type condition, that's another strike? Yep, it is used for mixing stuff and is used in tobacco humidification. It is even a carrier for most food flavorings and deodorant sticks. They also use salt, fish oil, and molassas for deicing, and that means?

I'm sure the dentist was concerned with the fluoride, but that is less toxic than nicotine gram for gram and you intake nicotine all the time.

You can scare yourself silly about harmless stuff all you want. I will leave you to the PG under the bed.

(And if you are looking for PG, make sure you get pharma-grade which is marked USP in our area. It may be BP in yours?)
