So I am sitting here puffing on my passthru and browsing the forums, and holding it just resting on the skin between my thumb and my palm, and out of nowhere, the middle of the passthru got painfully hot.

I wasn't power-puffing on it, just a puff or two every 5-6 minutes or so... and I hadn't puffed on it for a few minutes when this happened.

I, of course, immediately unplugged it. I've only had it for a couple weeks, and use it sporadically.

Bad wiring inside, I'm guessing?

The middle of the passthrough got hot, or the carto? Is this a manual PT or an automatic? If it was the carto that got hot, sounds like it got stuck in the activated state, and the cutoff didn't work. If the passthrough itself is what got hot, it does sound like bad wiring. Weird. Did it do the same thing after you plugged it back in?

The PT's do come with a note on the packaging that says to never leave it plugged in, unattended. This is probably why

The middle of the passthru got hot. Not the carto. It wasn't even activating the carto, as there was no crackling sound (as this carto does any other time).

It's a red automatic.

I always unplug it when I'm not using. Now I'm really glad I do!
