So my wife and I are new to the whole vape thing. I started with a smok stick x8, a gift from my son in December 2017 like it. Then went back to the store my gift came from and got my wife the v8 stick, the x8 was out of stock. Both sticks came with bad coils installed, lots of gurgling and spitting raw hot juice, not good. The dealer installed new coils on both for free and it has been smooth vape since. We have both learned not to over fill the tank, and I've noted that the extra x4 .13 coil that came with the x8 stick kills the battery twice as fast so we will stay with the m2 .25 for now.
So tonight I have a turkish tobacco blend in the stick and rasberry hot tea to drink. The daily smokes have been replaced, but the humidor is still stocked and I have bourbon!

So after 27 years as mr. mom I'm an extreme vaper, because of a gifted pen? Am I now part of the cool kids group? All I know is after a month breathing is better on the mountain bike! And no desire to go back, have two unopened packs that will go stale if not given away.

Ok a question from the night owl. Our sticks came with the m2 .15, .25 & x4 .13 coils. My m2 .25 went 12 days the x4 .13 went 8 days is that because of the lower resistance or maybe something else? Also noted my battery needed charged twice a day with the x4 .13, once a day with the m2 .25?

Dumb maybe but 28 days in and my son is on duty at camp Pendleton so.....

Welcome Edward. General rule of thumb is lower resistance requires more power so less battery life. Buy backups as soon as the budget allows so you won't be without a vape. Would advise a device you can regulate the wattage for next purchase. Congrats on your and wife's success.

Congrats to you and your wife and welcome to ECF. I agree with Letitia, lower resistance coils often will cause different effects. Sometimes less battery life, although if you have a fixed setup perhaps not so much. But you will go through more juice most likely.

Some coils just seem to have better longevity than others. Factors that can affect a coil life include wattage range, juice factors (dark, sweet, high VG and gunking factors like NET or WTA can also affect coil life) and when it comes down to it, some coils are just better designed than others.

I would also agree with Letitia about the idea of backups. That way, you aren't having to worry about what happens if a set up breaks and "does something" in a pinch. A box mod can be great to have as they often will have external batteries that you can charge after inserting a fresh pair, they will also "grow" with you as you experiment with various tanks.

Most of all though, congrats on making the switch, that's fantastic.

That's what I was thinking, thanks for confirming it. Our son recommended the Smok pro color kit so then we have 4 tanks that interchange without problems. The shop we've been buying from has the kit for $55 right now. My previous budget for smokes was $1-2 hundred a month, so the stick's won't have to go more than a month or two I hope.

I had not considered the juice factor. My go to is an amber colored sweet turkish blend that I thin out with distilled water.

All of the tanks these days are pretty much interchangeable.

They use a standard 510 connector.

The only thing to consider is if a tank is too wide to "look right" on a thinner base. But even then, we're talking a couple milimetres at maximum.

Instead of buying a whole kit, I would buy batteries and a charger (as suggested); and a new tank.

There are a ton of options that have reportedly better flavour and build quality. The Crown III is one of the hottest/most popular tanks right now.

Basically the point is not to limit yourself to a small selection of tanks -- a lot of people have different preferences and need to try different things. I've had tanks where I thought I was at the epitome of vaping. Then bought a different one only to have my mind blown even further.

Only problem is with two stick kits in possession these things do no good. Bought the pro color kit, batteries and charger all for under $100. this afternoon. No more worry about dead stick batteries and we have 3 tanks with multiple coil options.
Thanks again for the welcome and the advice, much appreciated all!
