Do yourself a favor and read some more, but not marketing stuff. Read all the appeals for help from noobs who bought an eGo-T. Read what most people do after they've had their eGo-T for a while. They ditch the "T" part and stick clearomizers or cartomizers on them. The eGo-T is nothing like dripping. It's finicky, leaky and usually tastes like burnt plastic.

Stick with the Volt. It's better than an eGo-T and is the best cig-like PV on the market. Get automatic batteries if you must. By the time they wear out, you'll be looking for manual batteries. There is a good reason why no high-end e-cig uses an automatic battery. No big battery APV uses an automatic battery. Even eGos don't use automatic batteries. Can you think of why that might be?

I don't know... because they don't want a hands-free experience?

I'm really excited for the prospect of using automatic batteries.

I thought I'd try one of both, but after looking into I'm definitely going for dual automatics : D

Maybe I'll take a pic of myself smoking one and check out a free manual though ;P

That is a very good idea. Manuals are the only way to go. You get better control, better hits, no automatic cutoff in the middle of a drag, and you can warm your vapor before you hit on it. You don't need a "primer puff" and it takes minutes to become second nature.

Unless you need to vape while you're performing heart surgery or rock climbing, there is no advantage to an automatic battery.

In real life, almost nobody vapes "hands free". E-cigs aren't light like a cigarette. You won't be standing around with an e-cig dangling from your lips as you puff on it. The automatic battery was invented as a marketing gimmick and an attempt to mimic a cigarette for people who are convinced they need something that looks like and feels like a cigarette. It's as useless as the red LED on the tip.

What if you want to smoke while you're playing games?

Because that's what I'm imagining...

You can't hit on an e-cig that frequently anyway, at least not a little mini-cig e-cig. You'll end up burning out the cartomizer because it won't be able to keep up. E-cigs are too heavy to be comfortable enough to leave dangling from your lips for more than a few seconds. You'll also be surprised at how long you can go between hits and still get all the nicotine you need. It just isn't like smoking a cigarette.

Oh, okay. I thought I read somewhere there were three choices, the third being a battery.

You're probably right. It's been a long time since I posted mine. All my Volt batteries are auto, the old style with the hole in the middle. Been using them daily since last August. But I do use manuals sometimes in the evening. I've got a Lavatube, an Indulgence a JoyTech 18650 Ego mod, E-Power and several more big battery and box mods. Lots of fun playin with my toys. Next I guess I need a ProVari.

Honesly, the difference between an auto and manual battery is something everyone has to learn for himself. Best thing to do is to get one of each. Don't take my word for it, but don't deprive yourself of experiencing the difference either. You'll find out on your own soon enough, but only if you get one of each.

There are so many choices, but what I currently like (that is what I call pretty maintenance free) is the ego battery from vapor f4 life with the small tank. I vape all day and then charge and refill at night. With that you also get the option of buying an atomizer incase you want to drip later but after using the tank I doubt it. the blank cartos which you can buy anywhere can also be used on the ego battery. But it is pretty cheap to get started then maybe later when you learn more about what you like you can move on to one of the bigger mods.

Dripping is great, but it's not for everybody. Don't choose a PV on the basis of how suitable it is for dripping, especially not a first PV.

Choose something with a good reputation for ease of use and reliability for a first PV. The Volt fits that description. The cartomizers aren't out of line, price-wise. It has more power than an eGo battery, 3.6V compared to the ego 3.4V. You can get an X2 battery that is 1300mah, has a passthrough, puts the ego to shame and uses low resistance cartomizers and tanks (real tanks not what ego calls a tank).

I detest mini-cig looking e-cigs for a lot of reasons. (Look at my sig line). So, if I'm recommending a Volt, you can believe there's a reason for it.

So, what is a tank? Is that an apparatus that stores juice, rather than absorbing it?

A tank can be several things. What ego calls a tank, is really what we used to call a cartridge. A tank can store juice and have a built in coil to vaporize it. Or, it can store juice and feed it to a cartomizer that absorbs it and feeds it to a coil (carto tank).

The volt X2 battery has a clearomizer available that holds a lot of juice, and vaporizes it without the filling found in normal cartomizers. Clearomizers give you the best taste without the hassle of dripping. They hold plenty of juice, as much as some carto tanks. You can't use any kind of tank on any battery the size of a cigarette. If you want to use a tank or a clearomizer, you need to get a bigger battery than a mini-cig sized one.

PV = Personal Vaporizer.

The nice thing about the volt is that you can get the X2 battery and the clearomizer for it. I've had lots of tanks, but none of them are more hassle free and better tasting than a clearomizer or clearomizer type tank. Anything that absorbs the juice will alter the taste. Clearomizers don't do that. Take a look at the Cleromizer for the X2 on the volt website. The passthrough is also great because you can charge and vape your battery at the same time while you're playing your computer games.
