Hi, love this site, been lurking for a while and decided to join to ask some noob questions.

1. I'm upgrading from a Greensmoke kit to a Joytech ego One. I don't plan on doing any sub ohm vaping, I'm trying to quit analogues so will be using the 1.0 ohm thingy. I read that some Halo juice can't handle 0.5 ohm vapes but can I use Halo e-liquid in the Ego One with the 1.0 setting? Is it safe?

2. Is there anything I need to do before filling the Joytech with liquid and start vaping? Do I have to "prime" anything? (And what does that mean?)

3. I'm a heavy smoker (1-1.5 packs of Marlboro reds a day) so I got all my juice in 24mg and 18mg. I read somewhere that it is very hard to vape with these high levels of nic, but the 18mg on my previous Greensmoke just didn't cut it. I don't want to chain vape or sub ohm, just to get off the analogues and scratch that nic itch. Am I going to get sick using the 24 and 18mg juices?

Thanks in advance!

hi @JSOC, Search Results for Query: nicotine sick | E-Cigarette Forum Over doing the nicotine can make you ill. Dizzyness, lightheaded, stomach ill are some of the symptoms. One option is to buy zero nic juice in the same flavor that you have and mixing equal portions will cut the nicotine level in half. Most people cut the nic level down (especially if sub ohming) when graduating to better equipment. The better the device, the more juice it will vaporize, the more nicotine you will consume. Even with the 1.0 ohm coils you may find you are over doing with the 24 and 18 nic. Id recommend starting with the 18 though it may be too strong.

I kept a cheap clearo/tank with higher nic in it for those times the regular nic level couldn't scratch the "itch". I'd hit it once and then go back to the regular nic level. Adjustment usually took me from 3 days to a week and I was then used to the lower nic. I used this same technique when I lowered my nic in steps.

On good equipment ALL coils should be primed. If you can (I am not familiar with this specific tank) put 3 or 4 drops directly on the coil and wicking. Fill the tank and take a few draws WITHOUT power (I cover the air holes to get good draw into the wick), and then let sit for about 5 minutes. You shoukld be good to go. Take a small powered hit at first, working your way to a full draw.

On ANY device the technique is the same. Start with low power, take a hit and bump it up. Take another hit...repeat. If it gets to warm or starts to taste burnt, back it down.

Good luck in your vape journey, you CAN get off the cigs.

Safe? Yeah, probably. As Sir2 says, however, it might be overpowering. You'll be getting more vapor off that rig than you're used to, and this will increase your nic consumption. Give it a try, and see. If you start over-amping on it, cut back. Order some bottles of your favorite flavors in 0 nic. This, plus a 10ml syringe from the drug or feed store will let you mix 0 plus 18 or 24 in ratios so you can dial it back some. Priming is always a good idea, but it doesn't mean anything except make sure the wick is soaked before you hit the button. In addition to the others, when installing a new coil, you can drop the whole thing in a shot glass with some juice and let it soak, then shake/blow off the excess before putting it in the tank. Cranking down the power and bringing it up in notches is also a good idea.

Welcome to the board, and good luck. Come back if we can help more.

Hi and welcome,
As others have mentioned, 18 and 12 might be a bit much for the Ego one.
Take it slow with the Ego one at first. The density of vapor is MUCH higher then the GS you have been using. You may find that to get a good MTL hit, you will need to close the AFC down to about 1mm-1.5mm on each side.
Mornings are going to be the hardest with the ego one. Once your day starts (use the GS for the first few morning vapes) the Ego one WILL scratch that "itch".

I prefer the CLR heads to the vertical CL heads. I think they taste better and are, for me, easier to maintain.

Congratulations for quitting smoking!

Have fun

I just want to congratulate you from escaping the (*deleted*) Greensmoke.

To give you some idea, I vaped 24mg cig-a-likes and carried on smoking like a trooper.

Now, I use 12mg in low-medium power, 6 mg in medium power and have the occasional puff at high-ish watts with 3 mg.

To give you more information, that's about 12 watts, 18 watts and... um... 35 (?) watts.

I tried vaping 18mg in a subtank at 20w once... once was enough.

Also what I find that helped me is to look into making juice yourself or buying juice from the store with 0 nicotine and add yourself (Have to measure precisely, look up ejuice calcs). This will give you total control over taper down of nicotine hell you could theoretically work down 1mg a week if you needed to. Best of luck!
