LMAO! "...an e liquid flavor of an analog like Marlboro?"

For your own knowledge and edification, a cigarette is not an analog of anything... it's a cigarette!

NOUN
(analogue)
analogue (noun) · analogues (plural noun) · analogs (plural noun)
  1. A person or thing seen as comparable to another.

A vaping liquid (or a solid substance) formulated to taste like a Marlboro cigarette would be an analog.

Aw, it's okay... three of your classmates were entertained by your comment. Sorry... Public displays of ignorance strike me funny. :smokie:
There seems to be a flame war starting based not on issues but people taking issue with misspellings and terminology. “Millennial” means someone born between 2000 and 2010. Only a small fraction of the oldest of these are even old enough to consider any of this stuff in reasonable safety. Theses chemicals and growing neurological systems do not mix well. “Millennials” seems to have become the new term for what used to be “young whippersnapper”. Older folks have always complained about young folks, and the complaints do not seem to have changed much through the ages. Younger people are shorter on experience and tend to view future harm as vague or non existent which can lead to problems that can become quite large in later life. Older people tend to consider themselves fonts of knowledge and that the knowledge they have is always correct which may or may not be the case.

Everyone is overestimating their own ability. A very human trait.

I agree, but this protectionist culture is totally out of control.

Not true. Up until a few days ago, this was the ingredient list on Juul's website. And I'm pretty sure you're going to have natural oils in tobacco and weed when you smoke them. Aroma therapy uses natural oils you inhale. I won't say dosage makes the poison here is entirely accurate, because some oils will be better tolerated by lung tissue than others, but volume will matter.

Fair enough. “Can’t” was an inexact term. “Shouldn’t “ might have been better. The problem with vaporized lipid oils is lipid pneumonia. It appears from what I have read that it requires high concentrations for long periods of time. How high and for how long do not seem to be well known.

Another issue is the term “oil”. It’s a technical term but also a term referring to consistency which causes problems especially with language translations.

How I understand this. I am not a chemist so this may not be exactly correct:
The now famous diacetyl caused problems because it was a lipid filled oil. Lipids are short chain fats. Fats, oils, and waxes are generally very similar things, the difference being the length of the chains. When things are heated chains tend to change length either breaking up or forming larger chains, so a fat can become an oil or visa versa. Hence any oil could potentially become an issue when heated.
The standard practice for ecigs for many years not has been to not use any lipid oil containing ingredients at all.

JUUL is sort of famous for not following standard practices though and pushing things to the absolute edge of legality rather than actual safety. I notice they specifically said “natural oils”. “Natural” has several meanings but what it has come to mean lately in food safety due to a legal loophole is “we don’t have to tell you what this stuff is, it’s secret”.
I don’t trust JUUL provide actually safe stuff. Legally compliant, yes. Actually safe? No.

Agreed. I'm no chemist either, but I'd have to guess there's quite a bit of oil in some other flavorings, especially the mints. I use NET, and I doubt it is completely "oil-free."

That is only a part of a longer video. Its taken from a performance art piece and has been cropped by some far right group to create a sense that younger people are not up to par with previous generations.
You have bought into some fake news.

Edited to add, I didnt think much of the performance tbh. l thought it was lame millennial type stuff :D

I'll take issue with your terminology of "Millennial" ... it is not even remotely correct --- the typical definition of the "millennial generation" is those born between the early 1980's and mid-to-late 1990's.

Civilization is an act of increasing protectionism and has always been so ever since we discovered the wonderment of caves.

The progression seems to go:
The most serious and fixable problem is dealt with first. This often creates a new problem which needs to be dealt with. Sometime problems created are bigger than problems solved. A new solution for the first problem then needs to be created. This process continues until the problem is solved such that new problems created are minor and they go on the problems to be solved list. This has gone on for a long time now and the problems to be solved have gotten less and less serious.

IMHO Your example points to something different than you think it does. It points to a solution to a problem that causes another problem which you attempt to imply but avoid actually pointing out.

Im 55. Just a very young 55, like 19, or 26 or something.
I'm 56. I'm not tired... I'm just sick of intrusive policies, and the lack of protest that would otherwise suppress it. Last year, Brazilians took to the streets by the thousands; due to an 11 centavos tax on bananas. In US currency, that come to about 40 cents. Would American's march over a 40 cent tax on anything? Nope! As long as American's have the internet, television, booze, sports, and porn... the world is good!

Mint oil is off the table for me. I don’t know if there is a way to make a lipid free mint flavoring or not or how good it is. Iirc menthol is lipid free but it has its own problems.

Thats not the video we are talking about. The one you posted and the one I commented on was a performance art piece which had been cropped and manipulated and titled to portray something that it wasnt remotely representing.
You fell for it hook line and sinker without even bothering to dig deeper to find out if it was a manipulation of truth.
You then shared it to prove some point you thought was important.
This is why it has been so easy to sell America anti vaping propaganda. People dont have any interest in checking sources for things they agree with. If it "feels" right and is inline with their own bias thats good enough.
I dont understand how some one who vapes and can see the lies and distortions at play in the vaping world cant see those same techniques being used in other areas.

Heh. Point. Now that you mention it the “Jimmy Kimmel” logo on the front (he’s a comedian) should have been a big warning sign.

I’m 52. You’re tired. You think you’re not tired go run a 5k at the same speed you could when you were 18 and reevaluate when and if you get out of the hospital.

I’m willing to bet you’re not actually sick of intrusive policies, you’re just sick of policies that intrude on you personally. Policies that intrude on someone else instead I am willing to bet you are all for {whether you think you are or not}.

Again, very human trait. The KJV called it “origional sin” I believe. I’m not a fan of the KJV myself. It’s very much a product of the language styles and politics of its period, both of which are long past.

UPDATE: it was later repeatedly pointed out that my definition of millennial is wrong. I was referring to gen Z. I’m not sure it changes the point much. Everyone thinks they know more than they do. Serves as an example even.
