hi everyone im fairly new to vaping. right now i have the joy ego, i like it alot but im having a lot of trouble with the atomizers, when i first got it, it was working great, great taste and great vape, but now even though i clean them by blowing them out and rinsing them, they dont produce as much vapor anymore. what can i do to fix this problem?

Hi and welcome. I use atomizers mostly....cartos sometimes. A trick that MIGHT work is to ream out the little airholes at the bottom. There are two little holes right above the threading. I stick an unbent paperclip in those holes and make sure they're not clogged. Also, you can drill them out a tiny bit with a tiny (1/16) drill bit (Dremmel tool??) OR i just stick a sharp tweezer in mine and sorta just ream them out a little. Sometimes that will help with the airflow which will help with the vapor. Otherwise, break out a new atty and save that one for emergencies....or switch to cartomizers like many have suggested. Good luck.

ive been vaping for about 3 weeks now, but ive heard atys are supposed to last anywhere from 4-9 months depending on how well you take care of them, thanx for all the advise though. ive actually been checking out the reo grand box mod, and it looks like a no hassle and easy easy to use. do you guys know anything about the reo?

That an atty will work 4-9 months is an urban myth! Ha. They do last awhile....not sure I know of any that have lasted 9 mos....none of mine do. Having said that....YES! I have a REO....actually I have 4 of them. They are totally awesome (but that's a pretty subjective opinion...LOL) They really do offer hassle-free vaping. I vaped for over a year on Joye 510s first, then eGos and RIVAs for about 9 months...then I treated myself to a REO and that was the end of the line for me. Since Feb. all I've used are REOs and they are great. You should visit the Reos Mods sub-forum and talk to some of the folks there when you get your 5 posts in on this new members forum.

haha damn then i think ive been misled huh? lol, well im glad i got such an experienced vaper to help me out :]. im going to try your lil solution and see if it works, and if not then i guess its time to switch out attys. im still trying to figure everything about vaporizers, as far as the sizes of batteries and what size attys i can use, i want to get a low resistance atty for my ego, but i heard theyre not good for the 510's? is that true?

The LR attys will work on the Ego batteries....they'll just drain the batteries a little faster, and untimately may shorten their life. I used LR attys on my eGos all the time and I didn't care if it sucked down the batteries faster. It's a trade-off. The eGo/Riva batteries can handle them. Now a regular, small (180mah or 280mah) battery cannot handle the low resistance stuff.

About attys: I've had a couple/few that have lasted for 2-4 months....but they do get weak/clogged eventually. Or they simply QUIT, never to be resurrected. Ha. I do find that opening up the airholes helps. You just never know....you could get hold of a great one that will just go and go and go, or you may get one that will pop the day you get it. I will say that the LR attys are even more likely to NOT last as long as the regular resistance ones, so be aware of that.

well thanx, now i know what to expect, right now i think both my attys are burnt :[ i just cleaned my last atty thats alive and its not vaping right. i think im just going to switch right over to the reo. ive only heard great things about it. its sux not being so experienced at vaping because im still trying to learn how to take of these things. this is probably what causes a lot of people to go back to analogs huh?

Well....the REO is a little hard to get because they stay sold out. You're getting your post count up, so after the forum cycles through it's reset, you'll be able to go post on the REOs Mods sub-forum. You will get a LOT of information there....just jump in and say you're thinking of buying a REO Grand and many, many people will chat with you about getting one.

One more thing to mention....and it's just a thought....but I've seen it happen time and time again. There is something that seems to happen at around the 2-3 week mark. I don't know if it's real or psychological....but people say they can't seem to get any flavor, they can't get the good vapor anymore, their pv's not working right, the juice tastes funny....etc. It usually passes in a day or two. Like I said, I don't know what it is, but there are whole threads about it....

So, you could just be having a bad vape day. :) Maybe switch up your juice or something. How much VG does your juice have? What nicotine level do you vape? Do you use carts or are you dripping?

Payday,
Using an ego-t for some time now, and I am a heavy vapor. I've been averaging about one two two atty's a month for a while now. I use a steamer to clean mine, but have tried water, vodka, alcohol. In the end I found a significant downturn in performance regardless of the cleaning method.

Myfreedomsmoke.com Has a 5 pack that makes it a bit more economical to buy them, They end up running about 7 bucks a piece in the end. I'm not sure who's getting 4 months out of them, but I know my milage varies quit a bit from atty to atty.

i let them dry for about a half hour before using them, maybe i should let them sit longer?

I don't rinse mine much anymore...I do blow them out a lot...but when I was using water to rinse them, I'd let them sit overnight. I've heard of sticking them down in the toe of a sock and putting them in the clothes dryer for a little spin....

I've been vaping a year and a couple of months....not necessarily an old pro, but then it seems like you do nothing but LEARN for the first few months, so everybody turns into an "old pro" pretty quickly. Ha. I do have lots of experience with the eGo set-up because that's what I used for a long, long time before I got my first REO. You'll be amazed at what/how quickly you pick this stuff up just by hanging out here on these forums. There are many, many people who know lots and lots of stuff about this whole scene....and you'll be one of them before you know it! Just hang in there...once you get settled in with a juice that you love and a pv that works all (most) the time, you'll be amazed at how satisfying this becomes. There will come a time (pretty soon, probably) when you PREFER to vape instead of smoke. If you have a bad vape day, just vape through it..... I'm sure that your cigarettes didn't ALL taste wonderful and totally hit the spot! Ha. If you're like me, you probably smoked half the time without even thinking about whether it was satisfying any itch or not. I smoked just because it was something to do. Now I vape for the same reason...but I enjoy it so much more.... :)
