Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and would like to say hello.

I stumbled upon this site while searching for information on e cigarettes and would like to know more about them.

There is so much information on here I don't even know where to start.

The kind of ecig I'd be interested in is one that looks and feels like a cigarette and is fully automatic. I am a smoker and have tried to quit in the past so I am hoping that I can find something to break me of my nasty habit.

Also, in my searches I have seen a lot on picking a 'strength' of nicotine. How do I know what to pick?

First off Hi and Welcome to ECF!

As far as the style of ecig that looks like a cigarette with an auto battery - those are "cig-a-likes" there are some members that are very well versed in them and I am sure they will be along soon with some links. Many find that those are not quite enough to quit, but are very handy in certain situations over larger ecigs. (I am in this group) Plenty do find that they are enough to be effective - just be aware of this going in - do not be discouraged if you need something "more" keep at it!

As far as strength there are a few reference charts out there - but really its pretty personal. I started with a combination of 24mg and 18mg. For the first 10 days I used 24 primarily to get through and once it started to feel to strong I started in on 18 and used 24 in case of craving emergencies. I was a somewhat light smoker - under a PAD but I did smoke full flavor. I would recommend a small assortment of 12,18 and 24 so you can feel out what is best for you personally.

Please ask away any questions you may have. This forum is filled with knowledge and helpful members!!! And again - I am sure someone more well versed in cig-a-likes will be along with tons of info and links!!!

Thanks so much. Also, I am having a hard time finding affordable ecigs in Canada. Since this is new to me I don't want to spend a fortune on something I may not even like.

Hi and welcome! Personally I found those cig look alikes not satisfying at all. I was never able to quit with them, not even for a few hours. Two years later I tried a true vapor device and have not touched another cigarette. I guess what I am saying is to not lock yourself into one train of thought.

I ended up with the kanger evod starter kit. It's sleek and clean looking, works great. All you need is some juice and you are good to go. I'd say to take a look at that!

Hi, I would also recommend the Kanger Evod, simple and easy to use. If you want to go with the cigarette looking ones, not powerful enough for most of us, but I would go with what is called The Volt, you can find them online. 50 dollars should get you started. good luck

In my opinion if you really want a cigarette look-a-like, then best to go with stronger liquid.

I started on a cig-a-like and 18mg e-liquid. It wasn't enough for me. So I went up to 24mg liquid.

There are drawbacks to the cig-a-like systems and I don't generally recommend them unless for a light smoker. However, as long as you don't get drawn into the murky world of rip-off cartomizers, they can be quite good. I am using one today actually. It's similar to the Halo brand (KR808D-1).

In fairness, I never really quit smoking until I bought an eGo battery kit with clearomisers. The fact I can get away with a cig-a-like is because I am gradually cutting down the strength and amount of nicotine liquid.

I don't entirely agree, personally. They have their place. If you think you'll get funny looks in public "lighting up" a Blu, wait till you bust out something as big as as a ProVari.

If the OP is considering a cigalike, I'd make two suggestions:

1) Try a disposable in that brand first. The disposable is probably slightly better than the full fledged kit, but it would give you a good idea what to expect.

2) For Blu, skip the kit at Walmart, and get a Premium100 starter kit (available only online). $90, and well worth it. Most negative comments here are reflecting on the kit available in stores, which is NOT the Premium100.

Welcome the family! We are all here to help each other, as we all have set the same general goals for ourselves concerning cigarettes (TO NEVER TOUCH ONE AGAIN!)

So with your question, I would recommend:
Vision 510 PCC KIT
It's a good kit and is what you want (510, 1000mah - AUTO batteries! also comes with a PCC to charge on the go)

I would also recommend an EGO kit, you find them on madvapes.com as well as many other great sites (go to the forum homepage here and scroll all the way down and check out some of the verified vendors ECF has posted.) Most vapers started with some sort of cig-a-like battery and moved to an ego and so on and so forth. EGO batteries are great and you can experiment with different types of tanks/atty's/carto's ect..

Maybe take a look (even though you said auto) at a manual ego twist battery with some sort of tank device to hold a bunch of eliquid so you don't have to constantly refill throughout the day (vision vivi nova, evod, kanger pro tank).


As for the eliquid question you had; how many packs/cigarettes did you smoke per day? Have you tried to quit before? have you ever tried eliquid? More information will make the eliquid question a bit easier to answer.

I got to agree on that. Just need to find a good kit that give you the same feeling as analog and you will be on your way.

And as many stated here, EVOD kit is not a bad choice! Personally own that in the past

I started out with a Halo G6 starter kit and found I was recharging the batteries and filling the carto's all day. So, I quickly graduated to a vision spinner 1300 with a protank 2 (I also have an evod). Battery wise, this gets me through most of the day, although I do put it on the charger during lunch and after work for about an hour. I have to top off the tank 2-3 times per day. I really wish I had skipped the G6 step and went straight to ego twists, but you live and learn. I'll +1 grimmgreen on youtub and add IndoorSmokers as well. Good luck and welcome!
