Hi,
I've been lurking around here for a couple of weeks trying to get the hang of this. Before I found this forum I had bought a v2cig kit. Of course now I've read they are overpriced but since it's what I already have I am still hoping for it to help me quit analogs.

My question is, after reading around this forum and reviews I decided to buy my eliquid from Backwoods Brew. The problem I am having is it tastes like chemical for some reason. I bought the backo. I know it says something about having to steep it. I steeped it for three days and tried it again. It still tasted the same. My question is: Is the chemical taste normal and should go away after steeping longer? Has anyone had this problem before.

I keep thinking it must be something I'm doing wrong because the reviews all said this is great stuff.

Thanks

I've had that happen to me- saw a ton of people rave about a juice and when I got it hated it.

I get a lot of juice from there, mostly for someone else but for myself also. I've personally never noticed a chemical taste.
Let it steep a bit more. Could be you just don't like it or there is a flavor in the base that you just don't care for.

No, something is clearly wrong. One of the big keys to enjoying vaping is finding the liquid that is right for you, but you should NEVER get a chemical taste. Is it possible you over heated your cart? When I first started, I would rapid-puff to draw in more vapor, but would burn "something" in the cart (be it the atty or the fiber). This would effectively kill the cart. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in quickly.

Give it a few weeks before you give up on it. I got some Backo and Virginia last week to try for the first time and I couldn't tell them apart. Now Virginia is rich sweet tobacco and I like it. Backo still tastes a little like generic/unsteeped tobacco. I've been vaping BWB flavors for 10 months and the only one I haven't liked was Hunters Blend (discontinued), but none taste like chemicals after steeping. The nutty ones aren't my favorites but certainly good enough to vape. Did you try Casablanca? That one is fantastic.

Be a little more patient with the Backo. I am trying to be too. I quit with v2cigs too on Congress flavor. Yuk!!

wow thanks for all the replies :) I thought it could have been the cart too so I filled a new blank one and it was the same. I'm not going to give up yet. I'm going to try steeping with the lid off and see what happens. If that doesn't work I guess I'll try another brand of eliquid. I really want to give up the analogs. At first I did pretty good but now I've bacslid and have smoked about a half a pack today :( Still better than the whole pack I used to smoke but not good enough for me yet.

I really appreciate all the help

No, I'm not real crazy about what came with my ecig. I ordered the prefilled carts that were suppose to taste like a Marlboro. At first they tasted like crap but I kind of got use to them for now because it's all I have, atleast until my BWB juice steeps.

Thanks for the heads up about leaving the lid off. I left it off all last night but I am going to put it back on now. Tpmprrpw will be a week it's been sitting maybe it's time to try it again. I do have a question about filling the cart though.

I saw on youtube to put the juice in the rubber end that came with my carts then just suck it up through the threaded end of the cart. This is the way I filled it. Do you think that would affect the taste?

i wouldn't leave the cap off while letting it steep...there are several threads that mention the possibility of it causing growth of bacteria, or causing the liquid to degrade faster.
Can you drop a link for that?

As far as I know, propylene glycol is a good bactericidal agent.
It seems to me more likely to kill bacteria than allow it to grow, cap on or off.

That's the condom method and it's a method that some people use. I tilt the carto on an angle and drip about 5-10 drops, avoiding the center. Let it absorb, then give it a thermometer shake to get the juice to the bottom of the cartomizer. Repeat until it seems the carto can't hold more juice. Let it sit a bit, shake again and try to add a few more drops.

Depending on your juice, and BWB is on the thicker side it takes awhile for the juice to absorb completely. When you get a drop or two from the bottom, it's usually full. Clean off the bottom, put it on the battery and vape.

Yes, I'm going through the same purfume/chemical taste as well with BWB e-liq's. I purchased a few and Backo was one of them. To me, they all have that purfume chemical taste. I will have to do what people are saying here to leave the bottle open I guess for a few days/weeks.

All I know is that this e-cig experiment is getting very fustrating to a point that I'm dying to have a real smoke!!..lol...but I'm still not giving up

Good luck BarbW

peace
