Hello, Im new here :)I recently started reading about e cigs as Im a big time smoker (2 packs of strong stuff a day, up to 4 when Im out drinking all night) and Im pretty young to be smoking that much (29, smoking since I was 20).So I ordered VOLT starter kit mainly because my wife and few friends would like to try something out and I think all of them would be afraid of anything that didnt remotely look like a cigarette.

I dont want to quit smoking really, I love it, but its really getting out of hand so I want a similar experience. I hope I do take on e cigarettes, however I think that mini E-cigs wont cut it for me, as I like intense flavor, good throat hit and basically I can eat analogs. Which brings me to my question:

If I do like e-cigs and I manage to quit smoking, or even reduce it to minimum Ill probably change to something bigger. Ive been reading a lot about variable voltage mods, and I like the fact that I can up my mod performance whenever I see fit. From what Ive seen the Provari is the only thing that combines performance, battery life, looks, construction material and an option to turn it off as Im pretty reckless. I wouldnt want to burn a hole in my leg. Are there any other alternatives to Provari which are similar in performance but not that pricey?I should also mention that I spend a lot of time at home in front of my pc as Im designer/photographer so looks are not most important, but i do want to take it with me sometimes. The way I see it, Id better (If Im able to replace analogs with e cigs) jump to the good thing and not fiddle my way around with tenths of devices and eventually end up buying the best/most expensive thing.

All of what Ive written is theoretical, as Ive never tried an e cig before. But Im sure there a lot of guys who were in my position when they first started and I hope someone could give me some advice.

This is probably a lot of questions from someone who hasnt even started yet, but Im so frikkin exited :)

Thanks from hopefully an ex smoker :)

Thanks guys!

Ive heard good thing about 5v devices, but Ive also read how everything (taste, vapor production, heat) changes according to voltage you use. So Im thinking why not having the option to chose voltage straight away. Ive read that some people spent thousands of $ looking for the real thing when they started. Thats why Im looking for the good stuff straight away, even if it breaks the bank.

I started in photography the same way, I skipped 3-4 beginner steps/equipment models straight away :)

Just read my post and realized Im contradicting myslef. What I wanted to say was, is there anything on the market that has most of the ability for a fair price, if not, that pretty much answers my question and I'll end up buying the best thing at premium price because there is nothing like it out there. I spent and still spend a lot of my income on analogs, so few hundreds of dollars wont make much of an impact in the long run. Im just afraid that Ill end up buying something that wont be able to keep me off analogs.

Im not sure If I make any sense, hope some of you know what I mean...

I love my Volt, especially for when I'm out and about as it's small and very portable. The customer service is top notch, and their prices are good too. I wasn't a heavy smoker, but since getting my Volt I haven't had an analog at all. I do have an Ego-T that I vape on at home, and am currently trying out different tanks and things. That is one great thing about PVs, they are not one-size-fits-all, and it is so much fun to play with all the toys to figure out what works for you.

Welcome to ECF! I know you'll find what you're looking for here. The Provari is a variable voltage mod but if you want a mechanical mod (most of them come with a lock on the switch) you can choose from a wide variety (Precise plus from Super T, GG from Imeo, etc) and get a kick if you still want the variable voltage factor. Reading some of the literature can guide you to the mod that makes you most happy. Vape on!

My only experience with VV is using an Apollo VTube (Lava Tube). I personally find that to be very satisfying. MadVapes sells a VV box mod, but I don't really know much about it other than it's inexpensive.

Here's the links:
Variable Voltage Box Mod
You would need to buy protected 14500 batteries and charger as well.

Apollo VTube Kit
With this you'd need to buy a spare protected 18650 battery, but the charger comes with the kit.

Hope this helps!

I will second the Lavatube-type setup as a variable voltage device, but I'll also throw in a recommendation to check out Maximum Vapors (they're here: Welcome to Maximum Vapors - E Cig Supplier ), as he carries some nice little basic box-mods that are quite inexpensive and are good to start out with.

hi nothingman, i went through a lot of different models before i found the one i liked so i'll give you my opinion. everyone has there own likes and dislikes but i spent a fortune because i didn't really understand what i was doing. i started out with buying the ones they sell at quick trip. 19.99 for a rechargeable battery and maybe 5 cartos. the charge only lasted me about 30 minutes then took an hour to charge for another 30 minutes. not a good experience. then i bought the one they sell at the mall for 150 and it was a little better but still didn't hold a charge for more than an hour. i tried the ego tank and it held a charge for 6 to 8 hours but juice was leaking in my mouth - yuk! then i bought a 510 N that uses 18650 batteries. really liked it but i couldn't find a battery to fit it. so i still have it but there is a battery stuck inside of it so it's unusable. then i bought a buzz pro and was really liking it until it quit working. it is a monster - really too big. i sent it back for repair and still waiting to get it back. the one i really like is the echo e. comes with 1300 mah battery that lasts 8 good hours and has a really good vaping experience. the cartomizer holds 3 ml of liquid so lasts a couple hours before having to refill. hope that helps. i smoked for 40 years and this is what did it for me. i love vaping!

Changed my mind LOL.

All in all I had really good experience with E cigarettes. After using volt e -cigarettes for 6-7 days I went ahead and ordered their x2 900mah battery and a clearomizer, and was pleasantly surprised.
Been on the edge for the past few days wether to order a lavatube or a similar modestly priced mod (not necessarily VV), but Ill think Ill save for a while and go with a provari.

Volt x2 battery while a good product, looks like it has been used for months, and it has been no more than 10 days. Im figuring the way I vape this thing wont last me for more than a month or two :(. Also clearomizers last me 7-8 days maybe bit more. So Im thinking of provari, a good tank and stocking on cartomizers.

I've been looking a lot into the Apollo stainless steel version of the lava tube. I decided against ordering it now as the V2 lava tube will have new internals that don't limit amperage as much. Let me know what you go with, as I'm trying to get a vv here soon as well. I've been vaping for two years on and off, but I haven't really felt a need for vv as the advances in cart and tank tech have kept me occupied and happily upgrading my experience. I'm pumped to finally get into variable voltage, though!
