I picked up a blu disposable cig on Friday this past week on the recommendation of a friend. I have been a 2 pack a day newport smoker for about 5 years now, before that it was one pack a day for about 10. Needless to say it has kept me financially broken if you include the fact that I buy my girlfriends smokes as well. I am happy to report that over the weekend I have only smoked 5 actual cigs, and not because I had to, but more from the habit I guess you could say.

I picked up the starter pack by blu from Walgreens this morning, and I actually like the way it hits much better than the disposable.

I am astounded that the craving has been so easy to get rid of, at times that I would normally have to smoke, I find that the urge is nowhere near as strong. I think that I may be actually be on my way to finding the strength to quit with the help of the e cigs.

now to be honest I just found this place and the amount of info is so confusing I don't know where to begin. I suppose I could start with how reliable do you guys find the blu brand, I have noticed right off the bat that some of you make your own blends, how is that achieved??? I am all for DIY projects if you could link some interesting and reliable teks.

what are some factors that I should learn about on the functionality of different brands, or modding my own?

hi,
glad your getting rid of those cancer-sticks :)
as to start you of on here you need to have checked this out > infozone

it all depends a bit on how you use it really , i cant speak for the "blu" but its all about the battery life, voltage of the PV or APV , and the resistance of your atty for example or carto i guess

you have many types of systems out there ::
____
Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped- used for testing new juices.

cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized- I believe this is the system you're presently using.

cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.

carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto- I sometimes use this system.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing- I sometimes use this system.

Also understand your present battery/ kit may not have enough power to drive certain delivery systems. Among my PVs. I own a Megalodon with 2400 mah batts and a Kgo 1100 mah- both true 3.7 Volt Pv- 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before batts need recharge. (quoted from vapoor-eyes-er
____
first off these link to UK sites but he recommend me the The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid witch is awesome on witch i use the http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/vision-vivi-nova-v2.5-long-wick~371 for an even bigger "container for e-juice" > clearomizer
with this system you only need to replace the atty + wicks ( piece of the vivi nova ) every few weeks or even 6 weeks depends on maintenance
____
cleaning guide:
The only thing I can say is to clean everything occasionally (I did my first clean after 4 days use). Disassemble the works. Top/bottom cap, drip tip, remove the head and the top rubber cap for it. Rinse everything under warm tap water; or fill a large bowl with warm water if you're worried you'll drop a part down the drain. Dry everything you can get to easily with paper towel, leave it disassembled on a paper towel overnight/24 hours. Put it all back together, fill, and you'll be good to go. The first few pulls may be sub-par if there's still a bit of moisture on the wicks. Don't worry, it cooks off and you'll be back to vaping properly in no time. Personally, I don't even let it wait overnight, though I trim my wicks down so they don't retain as much water. I put it together right away, fill, and just deal with a few "meh" vapes. Once the liquid wicks to the coil it resumes full functionality.

A full disassemble/clean only takes around 5 minutes. (quoted from recidivus

Heyo, welcome to ECF!

To start, stick around the New Member section, LOTS of new folks show up with a lot of questions that get answered, a lot you probably didn't think of asking yet.

Blu, yer going to get differing opinions. It comes down to: Are you smoking? Then they're fine. You can look at different stuff in your own time, no need to go buying the next big deal.

DIY? Pop over to the DIY Section and get ready to learn a lot. Once you get 5 posts in (and server refreshes) you can start asking more specific questions in there.

Functionality of different brands. Oof, this is tough, there's a LOT of different PV types and manufacturers, plus the multitude of attachments for them. Clearos, cartotanks, cartos, atty's, vivis, DID...it never ends. Just when you think you "get it", something new comes out. Literally.

Check the subforums, there's a specific one for just about every question you could think.

Again, welcome to ECF, yes there's a lot to sift through, but it gets easier.

Hello Ozzy, congrats on making the switch. I tell people the exact thing your friend did, I think the Blu disposables are a great way to try vaping out for 8 bucks. As for reliablity of the blu brand, many of us started with Blu and quickly found something better. I also know people who are happy with Blu and remain loyal for quite some time.

Now some may say get an ego kit or or get this get that. IMO you should have a look around, ask plenty of questions and if the Blu satisfies you and you dont mind the price, then stick with whatever helps you get off tobacco.

different brands will do different things. Most of us on here that dont use stick batteries like Blu do so because we want better performance, better battery life, better flavor, looks and style, and customization. The vendors pages on the lower end of the forums are great because you can research as many as you want and get a feel for what you may like before you make a purchase
