As my first post I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mack, live in Michigan and smoke about a pack a day (full flavor menthol). I have been curious about making the switch to vaping, and it being my 28th birthday today I figured it's time.

There are so many options out there it almost seems overwhelming. I understand that bigger usually equals better charge. I was looking at a Volcano Inferno that I thought looked good. I definitely want something I can use with liquid to fill my own, and button operated equals better control. Even though I know my preference will probably change over time, I would like to get something quality that will last for my first vape. Any help would be appreciated, and keep in mind I'm not very tech savvy with this stuff yet.

Thanks guys, I think I'll go with the ego-c twist. Its just the battery I see.

Now I need to get a charger, a drip tip, refillable carts and e-liquid and I should be set right?

I'm looking here JOYE eGo-C Starter Kits & Accessories | Joyetech eGo-C E-Cigarettes

The link you posted is not for the variable voltage Twist. All you want is the Twist batteries themselves and the two parts for the charger. The rest of the Joye stuff tends to be fiddly. You can use the Vivi Nova or cartomizers instead.

This site doesn't have the lowest prices but you can see take a look at the things you will need. Get a couple of the Mini Vivi Novas.
eGo-C TWIST 650mAh manual battery
eGo-C TWIST 1000mAh MEGA manual battery
Home 110VAC to USB 5v 2000mAh wall adapter power port
USB battery charger for Joyetech eGo, eGo-T or eGo-C and eGo TWIST e-Cigarette batteries - Genuine JoyeTech!
Vision Mini Vivi tanks with replaceable atomizer

You also might want to pick up a a couple of atomizers and drip tips to sample juices. Also, pick up a package of cartomizers to use for cinnamon and acidic juices that aren't plastic-friendly. If you like the Vivi Novas you can pick up anodized aluminum tubes for those juices later on.

If you click on the Coupons tab at the top of the ECF page you can search to see if the seller of your choice has any coupon codes.

The resistance is to the current through your coil. At a set voltage - what is being controlled by your twist - the different ohm ratings will provide a different wattage through the cartomizer. So, with a lower resistance (say LR 1.8ohm) replacement you will get more heat with less volts. With a higher resistance (say SR 2.8ohm) you will need more volts to get the same watts or heat. From what I have read the Twist batteries perform more accurately with the higher ohm or standard resistance coils. That is to say if you have it set to 4.5 volts with a 2.8ohm you will get close to 4.5 volts output from your battery. Whereas with a LR 1.5 you will not get the full 4.5 volts output from the battery because it doesn't have sufficient amps to push the power at that resistance. You will also use your battery more quickly when using LR carto's at a high voltage on the Twist. That isn't to say you are going to get a bad vape. If you go watch PBusardo's Video here he does a pretty good job explaining some of this. He gets into the Voltage stuff at around 6:30. It seems like it isn't worth the extra $ to buy the more expensive dual coil cartos with a Twist. They just don't seem to perform like a high powered unit would with them.

Granted this is only what I understand on the matter after a few weeks reading on everything. Someone with more experience on the matter - please feel free to set me straight.

I hope that helps without being overly complicated.

Ok guys this is what I plan on getting tomorrow when my funds are transferred.

Ego- c Twist battery
2 vivi mini nova tanks
2 replacement atomizers 1.8ohm
usb joytech charger
liquid: 24m menthol, 18m vanilla

That should make me good to go right, anything I'm missing?

Like bacc.vap said an extra battery would come in handy. You don't want to end up with an uncharged battery when you have the itch to smoke man. Get an extra charger as well. Or you can go the extra mile and get backups for your backups :)
