Hey guys, glad to see there's some pretty dedicated personnel using this forum, look forward to all the advice I can get!

Right now I'm using a Vision II Spinner 1600 along with a Kanger Aerotank as my vaporizer but am starting to grow tired of it. My question to some of the more experienced people is: what's the next step? I'll continue perusing the forum looking for ideas and tips but if you've been in my place before would appreciate some of your own feedback!

I switched over to the kayfun Lite+, blows my Aerotank out of the water in terms of vape quality and overall satisfaction. I do still use the Aerotank Mini on a twist battery when I want a smaller size for going out and about, but my daily vape is the kayfun at 4.5 volts (15 watts) running a 1.4 ohm coil on a variable device (I prefer The Beast Box for extended battery life and UNLIMITED POWAAAAAAA!)

First off tannerrex, welcome! Second, that's a loaded questions because there are many variables that only you can answer that are not given in your question. Having said that lets deal with some hypothetical's...

Looking for low power regulated device (VV/VW)
Your options include things like the Vamo, Innokin MVP, SID, VTR just to name a few.

Mechanical Mods/Drippers (RDA)/Genesis Attys (RBA)
If you like to tinker and feel comfortable with a screwdriver then a mod may be right up your alley. With your choice of atomizer you'll be ready to step up your game so to speak to a whole new experience. With the choices of atty's currently available it can be very daunting and while there are many here who are biased one way or the other, IMHO I think that if you chose this route say for a (RDA) dripper then a simple 3 post model will get you started (Patriot, Omega, IGO-M). If you choose to go with a Genesis style atomizer or tank RBA then (kayfun or kraken) may be a good starting point.

High Power Box Mods (Regulated/unRegulated):
Here you have mod both regulated and unregulated that can handle the spectrum of the vaping world in terms of power. From 3.0 - 1.0 ohm coils to .9 - .3 ohm coils safely. We are starting to see box mods that are handling even lower ohm coils in the .2-.1 range. Here your have mods such as DNA20/30/50 watt based mods as well as the SSG330/350 chip based mods that will allow for higher wattage upgrades by downloading new firmware if you are in to that.

Within each of these groups there are both originals and clones (copies). There are also a host of upgrades, customizations and retrofits to personalize, improve and enhance you mod to your liking and it's all dependent on your vape budget.

You choose!

Welcome to ecf! I won't make any recommendations, without knowing your price range, but browse some of the ecf approved suppliers to see what peaks your interest. The approved suppliers can be found at the top of the page under the "Forum Suppliers" tab.

Price isn't a huge issue for me, but I'm kind of stuck as to whether or not going with a full mechanical mod or running something that is still adjustable. Building and playing around with the laws of electricity is no issue for me (electrician) and have always been hands on. However, is it worth looking into something with more options to find my niche or perhaps start playing with coils and resistance to find what I like?

I went the box mod and variable power route when I moved up in my vaping experience. Tanks were the in thing and so I went with Kayfun, Taifun and Aqua but was never pleased with the relatively tight draws. Finally got tired of all the cheap builds on box mods, wonky 510 connectors and switch failures. I then tried something I thought I would dislike, a straight mechanical mod. Wow, what a nice surprise, simplicity, solid builds, many choices. I've now entered the sub ohm world where mechs really shine and am using a Dual RSST and a Kraken, both with steel rope/ecowool sleeve at the top. My current mods are a Stingray and a Nemesis, both are clones. I generally vape at 0.6 ohms or thereabouts and couldn't be more pleased.

Bit of an update; I went to a local shop and was talked into buying a mod. A stingray and an Aqua, I can't stand this bloody tank. To tight a draw for me, and the vape is too warm for my liking. I've tried multiple coil builds of size and resistance and generally just don't like it the damn thing, guess it's not for me. Moving on from here, any suggestions as to what maybe I should look for, bearing in mind I like a cooler more airy vape.
