I have a button cover for it but haven't put it on. There's a piece of wire with it, do you know what it's for?

That piece of wire should be a thread. It is to make the button cover fit snugly. If you lock the fire button by turning it clockwise, lay the thread over the top of the button, then press on your button cover, it should be a nice snug fit. Make sure the fire button is locked (will not push down) when fitting the cover otherwise the switch mechanism might get bent or broken.

Yours is a beautiful Reo Mini 2.1 SL, a wonderful mod, they are my favorite, along with the 18490 Woodvils. Welcome to Reoville.

Thank you for the advice and the compliment!! I love it and as soon as my battery gets here I'll be able to try it out!

You put the little piece of thread over the plastic firing button and then put the button cover over it. It will keep the cover in place. :)

I did not know that. Mine didn't come with anything (that I recall). Mine went on nice and tight without it. Orrrrr.... maybe the thread was up in the button cover when I got it (moving around during shipping) and didn't pay any attention. Either way it was a perfect fit. In fact, I tried to get it off to paint it but it ain't going nowhere! I had to paint it on the Reo! LOL!
