just joined here , been vaping for months but also smoking some too, but for past week haven't smoked any real cigarettes and am bringing quite a bit of phlegm up...

I just want to...are there folk on here who have been given up real smokes for a while and now vaping who feel improved health and fitness?..

Ive heard vaping does make the lungs heavier with water/ liquid but this is surely better tha. The tar and many thousands of chemicals caused by smoking real cigarettes?

I'm 40 and have a severe spinal problem as well as Emphysemia and I just couldn't keep smoking real fags , it was literally killing me ...

Do any of the long term vaping folk on here who have been off real fags a while notice an improvement in their physical health ?

I know vaping has its negatives but surely they pale in comparison to tar and other chemicals in real smokes?

Thanks.

Been vaping for 3 years, with no cigs. I can tell 100% there is a huge health benefit. I was a 3 pack a day smoker, couldn't even tie my shoes without being out of breath.

After quitting I was able to start exercising lost over 70lbs and can actually run up stairs without being winded.

I'm sure there are negatives to vaping which have not been proven yet, but I whole heartedly believe vaping saved my life.

Yes, and yes are my answers.

I don't believe vaping fills your lungs with water or liquid, those stories are inaccurate to the best of my knowledge. The outrageous story two years ago about lipid pneumonia was nothing more than anti-e-cig propaganda.

I'm the fittest I have been for 15 years in terms of lung capacity and freedom from breathlessness.

Guys , thank you very much for sharing with me .what I've just read sounds so encouraging !!..

Thomas you've done great to also lose that weight!:) , funny you mention that as I've shed a stone and half ..with careful dieting and the recumbent bike in the house!

Im sure their are going to be a few negs but way less harmful than smoking surely!

I've only been off fags for a week and wouldn't imagine that would be long enough to begin to break up the tar on the lungs etc ?but I really have been and am bringing up horrible pleghm even as I speak..I need to spit it onto a paper towel ..yuk!

" freedom of breathlessness , no longer out of breath from tying shoelaces and fittest I've been in 15 years " ...maybe you should write and tell the critics on e-cigs this as they have vaping down for as bad as smoking real fags!!

These are hugely encouraging signs for me and many who have just managed to knock smoking on the head ...though in my case it's so , so early ..only a week!..

I'll read that link Sir ,

Thank you guys :)

I'd suggest a 50pg/50vg juice. The heavy lung mostly occurs when it's high VG like 80% for example. I don't think PG is going to cure any ails, but I doubt it will hurt you if you aren't allergic to it. PG also contributes to throat hit, which can irritate some people.

Dizzyness can also be a sign of too much nicotine. Search Results for Query: nicotine sick | E-Cigarette Forum

Vape can be a very complex experience for some people, as it's not one size fits all. I didn't have any side effects and just received the benefits myself. Check this link for emphysema and vape from other people :Search Results for Query: emphysema | E-Cigarette Forum

Good luck in your journey.

Thank you Sir..I have just looked on the electronic tobacconist site( where I have started to purchase my favourite Gamucci liquid from ) and discovered the liquid I use is 80% PG and 20% VG , as the emphysema link does say that the PG is an antibacterial agent then that may well be best suited to someone like me with emphysema ...

Your dead right in that it's complicated and there definitely no ' one size fits all '

..I'll have another look , but based on what I have read up until now I think the Gamucci 80 pg -20 VG won't be too far off the mark for me..

Many thanks again :)

Welcome Scotchguy!! Lots of stuff here to peruse for research and lots of good people, too.

I kept it simple at first. I was vaping a basic system and learning. I do remember people saying to get spares, and spares for the spares. I am glad.

Best of luck in vaping. It really is healthier than smoking.

One nice thing about vaping is that it can be tailored to an individual.

Hey French , thanks man , while I don't expect my lungs to work anywhere like new, I knew the real fags were crippling me, I'm really in the early stages of giving up real smokes but hopefully sometime in the near future my lung capacity will have improved even a bit when I next visit emphysema nurse!

I've benn checking out some posts and amazing how similar and different things are for us all!!

Thanks French ..I wish you all well too :)

I have liquids ranging from 100% PG to about 30%.

Today's liquid is a 70(VG)/30 and it tastes amazing, but is so thick.

I don't know enough about these things, but people seem to get very hung up on ratios. If there's a health reason one way or the other, you should certainly experiment.
Other than that, I enjoy some high PG liquids... One of my "bulk" Hangsens (£4 for 50ml) is very nice and quite low vapour, which is good sometimes, for stealth vaping. :)
@VapingBad gave me some 100% PG once. I enjoyed that.

Well, I suspect that you have a recent x-ray, and I don't figure it to change quickly. I, for one, noticed more wind-age after a bit. I get my labs done quarterly and some of those stepped up for me. Not like I was a new person, but, my doctor noticed. That is when I told him that I quit smoking and switched to vaping.

It will take time and the effects are minor in most areas, but, it is "up" instead of "down".

I spent about $180 a month for three cartons. Initially, I spent that, but then I was learning and spent another month's worth for better gear. I do recommend a back-up. Whenever I get a new mod, my previous becomes my back-up and I have a kit in the car. I am normally not far from that.

Once your sense of taste returns, looking for juices that YOU like is important. I was amazed at how my taste could detect subtleties. Some of the juice vendors put multiple flavors to mimic one flavor. Took me awhile, though.

Because of my age and disabilities, I started walking farther. The dog likes it.

Whatever works, I really think we are all on a good path.
