Just wanted to say hi to everyone. A little background for you guys. I quit smoking in June 2010 with Swedish snus and nasal snuff. I still use both but miss the hand to mouth routine of smoking and the quick nic hit. A buddy of mine is sending me a starter set as I put it with some juices to try and all this week and I'm really excited. I love the fact I can "smoke" in the house again while not harming myself, my wife or my son. I'm floored with all the different flavored juices and all that are offered. I know this will be something I'll really enjoy.

Quick question.. Does the nic hit as quick as with smoking?

Hi Eric. Just my opinion, but in my experience, no, it takes a little bit longer to feel the nic. when vaping. I vape 18mg regularly and noticed form the start that it took a little bit longer, at least for me. I've read many different reasons as to why this might be the case most of them having to do with the added non-nicotine ingredients in cigarettes that supposedly "enhance" the nicotine absorption. Not to say that vaping isn't as, or more, enjoyable, I love it and have been cig. free for 139 days now.

Think of vaping as "extended release" nicotine. Vaping will not give you a sudden nicotine rush like smoking/dip will. Although what I have found is that the nicotine satisfaction feeling lasts longer with vaping. I can go 3-4, even 5 hours without vaping and not want to kill people. When I smoked analogs even 30-45 minutes without a cig was rough.

Eric- I agree that it is a little delayed compared to smoking, but more enjoyable.

One thing I get with vaping that I never noticed with cigarettes though is this... If I haven't used my PV in a while (30 minutes to an hour) that first couple of hits gives me such a great tingle to my mouth and throat. Sometimes I delay vaping just to get that effect.

What are your skills, btw? :D

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I dunno if this is common, but I also quit recently and found the nic uptake to be way slower than the "rush" one gets from an analog. The way I have been dealing with that is by not allowing too much time to pass between vaping, and more or less keep my system saturated! Nights are a bit tricky but if I wake up I keep a device near at hand and take a couple pulls then go back to sleep. Mornings can be hard sometimes -- especially around folks still doin the buttz -- but I again stay focused on the vape and I manage to make it that first few minutes til the nic takes hold. Otherwise I do not crave smokes one bit. The vape is an awesome thing. My wife even likes the smell, whatever there is of it.

I think a lot depends on your juice and equipment. At first I really needed to constantly vape at 5v to completely zero out cravings. After a few months I feel like the need for vaping is slightly lower and I'm ok w/ 3.7 volt vaping and a low resistance atomizer. The strength and type of the juice you have may also affect the experience.

+1 on better than smoking. Tried an analog after a few days vaping and ugh - can't believe I did that for most of my life.

Awesome guys I appreciate the quick responses. I'm very used to the delayed nic absorption, with snus and snuff no biggie. It'll be quicker though I can tell you that much. It's just overwheling right now all the different makes and models of e cigs there are. I'll report back on what my friend is sending over not sure what it is. He's been vaping for a while now so I know he'll do me right. I love all the different flavor options! I bet you guys have fun with different drink combos like vanilla coke and the vanilla juice. Or say the coffee with the coffee juice of course. The different led lights at the end are neat. I'll probably go with a blue. I think it's neat that they make some that look exactly like a cig but to me that will cause a lot of bad looks from uniformed people. If I have say a black one that glows blue they won't know what to think haha..

this is my experience also. vaping seems much more balanced and longer lasting than smoking. i don't miss the 'roller coaster' at all.

edit: forgot to say Welcome

I stopped smoking a long time ago (5 yrs) with Skoal. However, dip was taking a toll on my gums (Constantly hurt; Got where I wouldn't smile as much because it would be in my teeth). I haven't missed it that much since 12/31/2011. I did get a nicotine buzz (Seems like it got into my system quicker). I enjoyed it so much, I over vaped (Hittin' all the time). I had to cut down on the nicotine. I have reached a few times for the Skoal, but talked myself out of it and was quickly satisfied by the ecig. It's nice to be smiling again.

Spazmelda.. I'll reveal my skills in due time haha..

Wow really active board I was writing a response and got three before I finished lol. I can tell I picked the right board.

The new members section of this board is very active. Lots of folks with experience wanting to help new people find something that'll work for them. There are lots of good ecigs ,and bad ones too. No sense in new members making similar and costly mistakes. And the ones that do work can cost much less then some of the ones that don't work.

Agreed! I feel it rather quickly first thing in the morning. Later in the day I tend to suck-suck-suck but there seems to be a delay and it kind of creeps on me. I'm vaping @ 36mg in the morning hours and step down to 24mg for the rest of the day.
I seem to vape the most while watching Youtube ejuice reviews
