Hi everyone and Happy Happy Friday! I'm Ed (a nickname, I'm actually a chick :p) from eastern North Carolina, new to the forums/first time poster. I've been enjoying lurking, but it's time I came out of hiding - LOL.

About three weeks ago I had occasion to finally make up my mind to stop tobacco. The moment the idea hit me (yes, for the dozen'th time), I happened to be in my fave convenience store and the guy there suggested an over-the-counter disposable e-cig. I enjoyed it, believe it or not, and have since tried several disposable e-cigs trying to find "the right one" before buying a kit. I've cut back my tobacco cigs to about four Newports per day (from a pack and a half of Virginia Slims Menthol Lights per day...)

Well, this past weekend I was at a friend's cookout and a woman there had something she let me try, which made me realize that the OTC e-cigs were NOT the way to go any longer. I've done some searching on the 'net, read some on the forum here, and am ready to begin the real vaping experience for my nicotine addiction. I'm in a quandary, though, about which way to go.

I'm torn between two products, one of which I see spoken of often on here, the e-Go brand, and the Volcano brand, specifically the Inferno with the pass-thru battery/charger. I don't recall seeing the Volcano Inferno being spoken of here, so I'm wondering if any of you have any experience with it and some feedback on a comparison of the Inferno and one of the e-Go products for someone just getting started. The e-Go has so many different choices and so I'm not sure which one to go with.

So far, I am planning on using cartomizers and/or clearomizers - I'm a menthol smoker so I plan on buying a couple of different flavored juices along with a couple of different menthol juices, too, so I can experiment a bit.

What do y'all think? Your opinions are much appreciated, as well as any links to your suggestion.
Thanks so much!

Yes, I struggled with the 510 ciggie looking e-cigs for 4 months, and would recommend moving on early. The ego ones are more widespread than the volcano ones. I have tried several clearomizers and they are okay. I would recommend going with a miniNova tank instead though. I like it tons better...

I don't know exactly what a miniNova tank is, though. I'm that new... LOL
I did Google it, and the search brought me back, interestingly enough, to this forum where there was a giveaway back in April of this year -- http://........com/bckf766 -- If that's what you're talking about, I think that's too advanced for my noob needs right now. I basically just want to get started, pick up something simple yet attractive, versatile yet uncomplicated, inexpensive yet not cheap.

One other product I came across shortly after making my original post was the T-Rex product... reviewer said it's a smooth vape and not a monstrous throat hit, which sounds like I might like that.

I hope to order today or tomorrow... $5 a pop for these lovely E-Trons is gonna break me ;) lol

Hi Ed! Welcome. If you'd care from some juice recommendations, take a look at my juice review website. There's a good number of menthol mixes and a couple of straight menthols reviewed as well (altho most are pretty similar), and lots of other juice reviewed...I think the current total is 95 reviews. Should be a few more posted late tonight or early tomorrow morning also. Hope it helps you on your quest to bury the analogs!

Excellent!! Thanks so much, chefjosh!

I actually have been shopping a few sites, from recommendations here on the forum, for some e-juice. I like the sound of a lot of the flavors over at vapingzone.com, but it appears they sell only 30 mL bottles. I'm thinking I want to pick up several flavors and a menthol mix, perhaps, so that I can try a few out, mix'n'match with some menthol, and see what I like. I'd like to get some in smaller quantities than the 30 mL bottles, and I've seen some sold in 10 mL size... I'm gonna take a peek at your link and see what I can see!

Thanks again!!

Helpful info there chefjosh.....Personally i dived right in there with a Provari after i had two ciggie style 510 batteries go dead in a matter of 5 weeks, but i fully understand the reticence of buying something so soon. If i was just starting out, this time i might well go for one of the ego batts or maybe a lavatube, stock up on a few packs of cartomizers, and some e-juice, and you're good for a month or two....allowing for replenishing the juice as needed :vapor:

My pleasure Ed, and I concur, 30ml is too much for something you may not like. Lots of vendors offer sample packs of 3-6ml per bottle with 5 or more bottles to a pack, and that a great way to start checking out juice and vendors. The vast majority of vendors offer 10ml bottles...vendors that only offer 30ml bottles don't really cater to new vapers.

Thanks, Firehawk, for the warm welcome!

...and thanks, too, to Niteowl - I'm really looking forward to making a purchase soon and your opinion is much appreciated! Thanks again!

...and thanks again to you, too, chefjosh - I've been peeking at your ratings site and I'm dying to try some of these flavors!! ...and the tip about finding vendors who have the smaller sizes for new vapers is great - I'll be on the hunt throughout the day as I decide on which PV to order!

Your guys rock!

Hi and welcome to ecf. The eGo and Volcano are basically the same thing, and you will find a lot of different models with both brands.

All of the eGo class batteries come in three basic forms; 3.4v regulated voltage, 3.7v unregulated voltage, and variable voltage.
The only drawback to eGo class batteries is the fact that they are disposibles. When the battery gives up the ghost you throw them away and buy a whole new unit.

The new kid on the block that looks like a pretty nice unit for the price ($60) is the 3.3-5v Innokin MPV VV, you can even recharge your cell with it.

That sounds promising... question.... The box-looking thingy...
I've seen some pics in another thread where folks are posting pics of their vaping units and have seen some with boxes on them. Is this one like that? ...where the box is attached when you use it?

If i understand correctly...and im a newbie so could be miles off the mark here, but....the box thingy i think, is to enable the built in battery to charge other devices if u want to. Example, if ur mob phone is running low, it might connect to the E-cig via the box with leads, to charge it, depending on the connections. Not a deal maker for me, but if ur in the market anyway.....might be worth considering?

No you're right on. It got a very large battery so you could either vape it for days on end, or use it to charge other devices like your phone.

Okay, I get it... however, are you familiar with whether or not you can use other batteries on it instead of the big 'ol box, and if so, do you reckon most any type would fit?

By the way - I've chosen my flavors from Rawr, from whom you've reviewed some of their juices... Now just need to settle on a device! LOL
    Thanks!

Hi Ed, welcome to the forum!! I would go with some sort of Ego type for sure. They are compatible with most of all the 510 stuff and they are pretty cheap as well. I had to learn the hard way and I started with the KR808 (V2, Halo, Bloog, etc) and worked my way up to (what I have now) the KGO and the Vision Ego Spinner. Not that I don't like the KR808, I still use them on the go because they are small and easy to use. I pretty new to vaping myself, so I don't know too much about the volcano. As for juice, check out Backwoods Brew, they have some of the best juice around.

Congrats on making the choice to rid urself of tobacco!.
I use a pretty simple set up. KGO battery and Clearomizers. I also use a Ice/Ice juice from Vape Dudes, it’s a cool smooth menthol flav, which I actually add to other standard flavs just to give them a menthol kick. Vape Dudes has a good variety and you can get the 10ml bottles to sample diff flavs. (they also allow returns on ones you don’t like). Good Luck

No, sorry Ed, it's a special battery and can not be removed from the device. You have no options other than carrying the whole unit with you. Most PVs only run on the battery that's sealed inside the unit, like an eGo type device, or special rechargeable IMR lithium ion batteries that are usually only available online (at vaping supply and flashlight supply websites) or at highly specialized stores.

As far as Rawr goes, I will only say, you have chosen wisely. Hawaii Sunrise and Lazarus are two of my all-time faves.

I know how difficult it can be when you're just starting out, so if you have any questions, feel free to contact me here via PM, or you can use the "All Other Inquiries" link on the right hand sidebar of the website to send me an email. Always happy to help a new vaper get up and running.
