Hi, hope I'm allowed to do this?

I'm a bit slow on the computer, so I am trying to do the right thing on this site.
i have been off real cigarettes for 4 months, using an e-cigarette..they gave me 18 strength,
because I had been puffing like a chimney..( real ones)
it went well for two months, then I lowered the nicotine to 12,
and started getting mild headaches,
i put it back to 18 strength

and am still getting mild headaches after puffing???
i bought a different kind of e-cig to try, last night,
(50% vegetable glycerin and 50% propylene glycol)
the man thinks my previous one was 70/30 (more propylene in it than vegetable)
does that make sense ???
this one is 15 strength and a really nice fruity flavor,
but, this morning,
i have another headache...so discouraged,
guess I'll have to stop this too ( heartbreaking)
IT WAS THE ONLY TIME I COULD EVER REALLY GET OFF CIGARETTES FOR GOOD,
My dad and sister and sister-in-law all smoked,
they have all passed away...so Guess I will have to slowly give up these !?!!?:(:(:( So discouraging!:mad::mad::mad:
someone told me to drink liquids?? Why would that be???

Hi Terry Welcome to ECF!
I'm new here and to vaping also so I really don't know what's causing the headaches. But I can answer your question about fluids. I have read a lot on here that vaping will dehydrate you so it's important to drink plenty of water while vaping. I have also experienced the dehydration, my mouth and throat will get really dry so I always try and keep a bottle of water close by and drink it a lot.

As others have pointed out and I will tag along with here...I always get a headache and a dry throat if I do not drink enough water. It is very easy to get dehydrated while vaping. The upside is that drinking water is great for your body! I didn't do enough of that before I started vaping so I am actually seeing benefits from drinking more water now. :)

to ecf TerryOR. So glad you are here. You will notice that ecf is also a huge support group for anyone having issues. So sorry you are having headaches and I know it is frustrating. You sound as though you are ready to give up and go back to smoking but is that really something you want to do? I think before you throw in the towel, you should try different nic levels. Try different pg and vg percentages. You may even try a different vendor for your juice. They can be different. After already conquering the first 4 months, I would try whatever, just to keep doing something that you already know is better for you. Losing precious family members should also be incentive for you to continue the fight. I know I am just telling you what you already know, but this is how much people on ecf care about others and we will be here for you anytime you need encouragement. I hope to read about your successful vaping. Good luck to you and I mean it.

Thank you, Dave,
I'll do that for sure,
I'm drinking juice as I talk to you

Water.

Not juice; water.

How to know if you are well hydrated? When you go to the toilet and it comes out looking like water, then you're well hydrated.
If it's yellow, then you could use some water.

I was having headaches early on and when drinking water didnt make them go away someone suggested I try a lower nic juice. I loved all the new flavors vaping provided and was pretty much a chain vaper at 24mg. I've slowly cut back to 12 and I dont have headaches anymore. Just keep trying different suggestions and if they dont work keep asking. You wont have to give up vaping or learn to live with a headache. Just have to get the variables dialed in to suit you

Same here in regards to water, not to mention that when I vape, being hydrated seems to allow me to taste the flavors even more.

I too drink coffee A LOT! I have noticed for myself (been off of cigarettes now for almost a year in November) that if I don't drink enough water I get a slight headache. I also can not vape a high PG content juice so I have a 60/40 mix. This does help out A LOT! Also after a while, you're body gets used to not getting all those other horrible chemicals from cigarettes. I was told by my doctor that that is the worst part of quitting. It's not necessarily the nicotine level it's all the other junk your body is getting rid of. It will die down, keep up with it. Good luck to you :)

Hi Terry, I'm new to this but just wanted to throw my pompoms in and say you've come a long way and I hope you get back on track.

Juice is full of high fructose corn syrup and not as hydrating as you'd think. Nothing better than plain water to replenish fluids. Maybe even throw in some electrolytes with some Gatorade if you want some variety.

Big coffee drinker also, I have to force myself to drink water at work instead of coffee or I'll start feeling yucky.

Hang in there!

Coffee is, while nectar of the gods, horrid for your system, normal or decaf. To counteract just one large size from starbucks you would need to drink a half gallon of water.

Ahem... Maybe, but I drink coffee and tea mostly, with a little milk, no sugar, all day long. A glass or two of wine or beer with my dinner. An occasional glass of mineral water when I think about it or when it's very hot outside and I'm still alive. After 5 years of vaping. :)

Seriously, if I had to drink a a half gallon of water after each cup of coffee I'd burst in seams.

Also to add to everyones good suggestions,
i know when i first quit for the first month or so i had killer random headaches. They were withdrawls, No amount of nic would help. Fight through it. Its horrible, but the e-cig did help. And after a month or so they were gone, i could breath, start running the whole 9 yards, and the best part is when i felt like breaking down, this place or the ecig subreddit was always there encouraging along the way.

We got your back. This is as much a family as anything else and we want nothing more than to see you tackle the beast that is cigarettes!!!!!!

I'm curious to know if you have any sensitivity to artificial sweeteners - for instance does diet pop give you headaches too? I was getting severe headaches from a couple of juices I bought and I still suspect that was the culprit. I've found most don't use artificial sweeteners, but there are a few. I would suggest trying a different kind of juice, one you know is sweetened with Stevia or some natural sweetener.
