After maybe two or three years of lurking on the boards and then forgetting about it all and then lurking, repeat, I just finally ordered supplies.

I got a Bloog 65 and robot parts for it and juice from Vermont Vapor.

After a year of bad health problems (which have actually led to me smoking more due to not being able to do much else) and which have, also, made me face my own fragility in a new way, it seemed time to give quitting a real chance.

So, I got pretty much every charging option available and extras batteries and am, frankly, curious to see if this works on me. I have never, in 16 years, ever tried to quit because I enjoy it and life is awful enough without depriving oneself of things one actually enjoys. But it's nicotine I enjoy, the time out, the distraction, the relaxation, not the potential cancers, stink and sudden withdrawals. I used the patch, once, when I had my wisdom teeth out and nearly fainted and puked when I had my first cig after taking it off. And I've used the lozenges for flights and similar situations, but never with the idea of possibly permanently trading them for real cigs.

I had been very much leaning towards the eGos, based upon the mass of positive reviews, but the truth is I do want something that mimics a cigarette, I'm not a hobbyist (I'm an addict) and vaping some big, bulky robot isn't going to replace a 16 year comfort. Nor would it be terribly functional for me to do while painting or driving, etc. Did I mention I have very small hands and tendinitis in both wrists? Anyway, I would have preferred something with more cross-compatibilities, but the pretty much consistently raving reviews of the Bloog combined with its obvious ease of use and function swayed me.

As far as juice goes, I've read all the reports here of people having allergic reactions to PG and, as a result of my current illness, I've been developing crazy allergies to things I've never had a problem with before, so VG sounded like the safer bet. I, also, have no interest in juice that tastes like anything. I don't enjoy "taste" as a sense in general, really, prefer bland foods, no sweet tooth, etc. I'm, also, really scared of all this crap because it's all made in China and there have been so many problems with insane poisons discovered in their products from cat food to baby toys and so on for the past several years, so I had a much greater -- though perhaps misplaced -- trust in something American made with no flavor and with vg juice and Vermont Vapor seemed to fit the bill -- though, really, 6 bucks for shipping seems a bit steep for a total of 63 mls and 5 droppers. However, quibbling about 6 bucks when I just shelled out almost 200 for the devices and chargers seems silly. If this works, I'll have broken even in about 5 weeks, given that cartons in my area are about 50 bucks a pop.

So, that's where I am with all this. Gonna have to learn how to fill and clean cartomizers here, pretty soon, but I think that'll be easier with the tools in hand.

I'd really like to thank the whole community for all the great information you share and the innovations you've helped create and, really, the many lives you've helped to save.

Thanks!

Welcome to ECF.

You know, maybe someday, some smart vendor will sell a combo-kit that comes with 2 std sized cigs and an extra eGo sized unit. lol. You get tired of charging those little cig batteries every hour or so.

Robot parts. lol.

I hear good things about the bloogs. Maybe a bit more $$, but people seem to like them.

Welcome again, and hope it works out for you. Keep an eye on ECF and ask questions if you have any problems. That's what it's here for.

I just started vaping and I love the Kr808-d1's. They look like a cig, you can hold them like a cig. The short battery life kinda sucks and it took me awhile to fing the perfect flavor (though I am still trying new ones). The 808 is compatable with a bunch of different brands. I finally figured out to buy/swap cartomisers and juice on here. It's a lot cheaper and I get lots of different flavors to buy. Good Luck!

I have a volt (which is pretty much a bloog), a 510 and an ego. From the day I got my volt, I've barely used my ego. Battery life is great on the ego but it's not cigarette feeling at all. I was really surprised that I'd take to an auto kr808 type PV but I really have.

To be honest the ego is barely bigger in the standard size I have it. In fact it's the exact same length as the volt with the only part making it longer is the mouthpiece.

I thought it was a little amusing they're the same length but I prefer the 808 over the ego.

Filling cartomisers isn't too difficult. The way I do it is keep the "condom" from the carto and fill it about halfway then push the cart filler side down with the cap off into the condom with the liquid in it slowly and it forces it all up into the cart. Google or youtube "cartomizer condom method" and you'll find a lot of info on it. It's a lot easier than you'd think. Good luck!

Good Luck!!
Honestly, don't expect vaping to be an instant fix. It will take some time to find your personal sweet spot. Don't give up! Post any questions or concerns that you may have during your journey on the ECF. There are many people that have been down the same road as yourself. Welcome to the world of vaping!!!

Welcome Kumquat!

There are tons of videos that can help you get up to speed quickly to clean and fill your cartomizers. Here are a few good videos that might be helpful to you.

To help save some money, sample size liquids are the way to go when you're just starting off. Here is a list of Suppliers who sell sample size bottles in a post I made a little while ago: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/202019-help-some-liquid.html#post3565246

Hey everybody, thanks for your welcomes and suggestions. I got emails a bit earlier from both suppliers saying my stuff is on its way. One thing I'm realizing I probably should have done more research on is quantity of nicotine per ml. Many of the quantities seemed really high to me and I'm not doing this to get more addicted to nicotine. I've seen Camel Lights (my usual though not always brand) variably reported has having 10-6 mgs of nic per ml so I stayed within that range when ordering liquid -- except for the 0 nic liquid intended to help wean me down by diluting the others. Are these nic levels going to be strong enough to entice me away from analogs? I expect I'll, at least initially, be trying to vape this thing like a cigarette as in for 5-8 minutes at a time -- though, sometimes, I only smoke half a cig or even just a drag or two before putting it out. I'm starting to worry I'll be drawing on the e-cig until the battery runs out trying to restore the nic balance to my blood.

Your body does not absorb as much of the nicotine when vaping as it does with analogs. Since I used to smoke the same as you I would say 12 mg is the minimum you will need and would probably be happier starting around 16 or 18mg juices. Since you have already ordered some of the lower mg stuff you can either save it for later if you are planning on stepping down you nic levels over time or buy some stronger juice like a 24 or 36 to mix with the weaker stuff.

btw I am in the same boat as the kit I started with had 11 mg carts which were OK but not great as far as nic level but the juice bottle was only marked as "low" and I though it would be the same. I have since found out it is 8 mg juice and is not cutting it for me. I hope my new order reaches here soon.

Congratulations on getting off the cigarettes and the Bloog works real good only it is a little expensive compared to others of the same type.

If you decide you want something with longer battery life you might want to try the echo auto 650 or 1300. They use a 808 connector and a similar carto as the Bloog only bigger 3.4 ml. You can also use the smaller Bloog cartos for testing juices with them. Good luck on your vaping journey!:vapor:

Hm, that's what I was afraid of. I'm gonna wait until this stuff gets here to see how it works with my body before ordering anything else. Is it a bad a idea to mix juices from different distributors? I'm trying to stick to unflavored VG, but from what I've read there seem to be taste variations even within that.

There's a user... Swedishfish... that is getting rather famous for quoting something like:

"I don't know why former smokers a so afraid of nicotine"... forgive me SF if I misquoted you. But she has the general idea down pat IMO. You don't want too much nic, but if you don't get enough, it won't work for you. I 2nd the advice about having a few strengths. You probably don't need 36 mg, but who knows. You could also pick up some VG to dilute with too. So, since you are going with 100%VG unflavored...... just DIY it and mix it up to a given strength yourself. Of course, then you would get 36 or 48 mg nic and cut it. 36 cut in 1/2 is 18, cut into 1/3 is 12, etc.

It's good that you are planning on paying attention to your body and finding the level that works for you. I'd mix VG from two vendors as long as I wasn't having a problem with either one separately (like an allergy situation or some such).
