All the info about MAOIs is fascinating to me. Having gone through many of DVap's and blog posts, I'm now reading this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ne-maois-towards-more-effective-e-liquid.html

Having never even tried vaping yet, I clearly have no actual idea if the nic supplementation alone will work for me. But given my own and my family history of depression, it would be far from surprising if it turned out I was using tobacco for the antidepressant effects.

This place is really a goldmine of information. I feel very fortunate to have found you all.

Together, the synergy of MAOIs plus nicotine, plus additional mild, opiate-like activity, provide the unique features of tobacco smoke on human psychology (mild alertness coupled with mild relaxation).

Is this why I have such a weakness for Bailey's in coffee?

They complement each other. I vape to satisfy my hand-to-mouth fixation. I use snus and dissolvables for the missing MAOI.

Good luck.

BTW, the folks on "the other side" are very knowledgeable and helpful. I encourage you you talk to them... they really know their stuff.

That thread is interesting but purely academic. No WTA eliquid has been produced yet... Just sayin'...:p

The Other Side being The World Of Snus? I'll check my pharmacy later on today to see if they carry Ariva or Stonewall, but I'm kind of doubting they do. Also, having a hard time imagining myself with a jaw full of chew and a spittoon, but maybe all my ideas of snus are wrong. I am, however, open to the idea of snuff, but have been prone to nosebleeds since childhood and have horrible sinuses which I chickened out the morning of scheduled surgery on having fixed. That was 12 years ago when I had health insurance. Bad decision.

Has anyone who used to smoke in their home noted that their pet went through tobacco withdrawal when they quit smoking analogs?

Great info from everyone on here. I'm a Noob with vaping and have a VERY similar situation. Let me break it down for every1.

Smoked analogs for 13 years. Quit cold turkey for 7 months about a year ago till I started a graveyard shift at a very stressful warehouse job where I am currently employed. I bought the ProSmoke starter kit a couple weeks ago after watching and reading many reviews that might have been biased or not for about $80.

THE RESULTS...

The ProSmoke was not for me. I wanted something "JUST LIKE" an analog... (Look, feel, etc.) Even after a week of further research after buying the starter kit and blowing 2 atties in 3 days, tiny carts with minimal flavor I.M.O. that leaked nic juice after applying 1 drop of juice, and having to recharge battery's at work 3 times a shift, I knew I needed to join a forum and get the REAL info. and UPGRADE! Ya know Dot all my I's and cross all my T's. I upgraded yesterday to a 510 which I'm enjoying alot more. So far every problem listed above I haven't had and I'm actually getting an ok amount of vapor for a "work rig" Being a new member here I'm limited to threads I can post in so I figured I ask here.

What's the best info whether it be links on the forum or just personal opinions on new setups/models to try out for work and at home without going broke??? I'm already a couple hundred $'s in and I'm sure I'll be spending plenty more for the enjoyment but I don't want to waste anymore money then I need to on over advertised mediocre products right? I'm in it for the long haul. No more analogs! I'm open to checking out anything but minis pretty much. So far vaping is like appreciating a good quality beer for me. New flavors of E-juices being like trying a really strong 2x IPA or Cask conditioned ale for the 1st time. You can't get that out of an analog or in other words your local gas station.

I ordered some new juices from Backwoods Brew so hopefully I'm on the right path. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Glad to be a part of the boards. Thanks everyone.

You may find this helpful:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...202253-help-me-choose-please.html#post3568993

This is what I like and use:

I have eGos (3.2-3.4v, regulated, 650 and 900 mAh) and the new true 3.7v SE Rivas. I've used everything on them from LR atties (Cisco being my favorite for dripping) to dual-coil cartos, Vortex, tanks, and even the Bloog (kr808-with an adapter).

The easiest and most reliable PV out there. And a starter kit can be had for ~30-40 bucks--depending on the options chosen.

An LR atty or carto on 3.7v gives me plenty of heat and vapor--as much as any mod. It's all about Wattage, anyway.... And the eGos are safe, dependable batteries. And when they fail, and fail they do, eventually, they can be replaced for $11-20.

I use the eGo-T atties type B on my 3.7v Rivas--the flavor is much better. I use the LR type B atties on the eGos. However, the standard ones work fine on the eGos, as well.

BWB eliquids are good. If you don't like them, there are plenty of great suppliers... Trial and error. Look for vendors who offer sample sizes. Read reviews. Have fun!

I'm sure others will chime in with more recommendations.

The Other Side is the smokeless tobacco forum on ECF. Your idea of snus isn't quite accurate :). No spitting (or I wouldn't have ever tried it), no wad that shows and it is in a small neat teabag like pouch so there isn't tobacco sticking to your teeth (unless one breaks open).

I prefer snuff (even though I have sinus issues, which it actually seems to help). You aren't throwing it back into your sinuses (if you do it right), you just gently sniff it into the front portion of your nose for absorption. I find the menthol/medicated are wonderful for clearing up my head. The only downfall of snuff is that people wonder what your sniffing if you do it in public  Honey Menthol is my favorite.

More information on Snus, snuff and other alternatives can be found here Smokeless tobacco and you can always start a new thread there or pop into this thread and ask questions here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...whats-under-your-lip-your-nose-right-now.html (tell them Hellen sent you and said Hi!).

I've poked around a little bit in there, but will take a closer look. I guess the hardest thing to imagine, when picturing myself trying these alternate methods of intake, is what on earth I'll do with my hands! What do you do with your hands if you're not smoking? Is this why people start knitting? Do you carry tiny pianos around? Even with all the smoking, I find that I have to be constantly at something, even just doodling on a napkin. I don't sit still well. Seriously, what do you do with your hands?

Very cool. Thanks for all that info Katya! Funny enough I had already taken an interest in Liberty Flights after stumbling onto their site over the past couple of days, so I will have to check them out for sure.

So much info can be overwhelming but like you said trial and error are really the best ways to learn. I'm def. having fun with all this! Especially dissecting all of the E-cig language you wrote above! haha So much to learn in just that alone... Hopefully I'll figure most of it out in a week or so.

Please, more of your preferences and expertise everyone!

LOL... I put my tiny piano away and started doing lots of projects (like cleaning out the garage, blech). I also type a lot here here on the forum! You could always hang out and shoot for a high post count and maybe help out some new folks in the New members forum in the process. :)

Finding something to keep busy with is good... or you can just sit and vape away when you want to (and you can use low or zero nicotine if you're snusing or snuffing).

Hi, Hellen!

coilover, I'm not sure exactly where you are, but there's a SoCal meet up on the 16th. If you find the SoCal subforum they have the address listed. I forget which beach, one of the beaches in the OC. And I'd be going, myself, but am in LA and have to go to a birthday party that night.

The meet is in Laguna Beach.

My robots arrived! And so far, I'm quite pleased. All the batteries were pre-charged and I can detect no error in my order. I've tried out all but one of the batteries and those seem functional. Have had no need yet, obviously, to test any of the chargers other than the pcc which was a bar low and it charged very, very quickly (15 mins, maybe?). I'm vaping one of the Kamel carts. It's only 6mg, but gave me a head rush at one point so I'm glad I changed my orders for lower nic quantities. How many drops of Zero am I going to need to use to lower 20mg juice to something I can handle? It sure doesn't taste like a Camel, but I'm at a loss as to how to describe it...I think it tastes kind of like this gum numbing goo my dentist uses. I'm, also, a bit itchy for an analog, but resisting. I ordered both manual and automatic batteries and prefer whichever the ones are that don't have the button, lol. Those ones! It's weird not needing an ashtray.

Congratulations!

Well, if your eliquid is 20 mg/ml, mix it with equal amount of PG or VG (1:1 ratio) to get a 10 mg/ml. You should be able to handle that. Just don't dilute the whole bottle, mix 1 ml of juice with 1 ml of PG and see how you like it...

And keep those cartos topped off so you don't burn them. Top off early and top off often.

I read somewhere that some Rite-Aid pharmacies in OC carry dissolvables, but I'm not sure. I get mine online:

http://www.lilbrown.com/entity/tabi...yid/8/sename/dissolvable-tobacco/default.aspx

Also, having a hard time imagining myself with a jaw full of chew and a spittoon, but maybe all my ideas of snus are wrong.

No spitting involved, as Hellen explained. Snus comes in discreet small pouches. I like mini white (dry) portions. General mint mini are a good way to start.

Has anyone who used to smoke in their home noted that their pet went through tobacco withdrawal when they quit smoking analogs?

Never smoked inside, so my dog is fine!

I broke down and had an analog after eating, but I would say I skipped probably 5 cigarettes I would have had while normally working at the computer. I topped off once, but can't say I notice any difference; I just got nervous it might be getting dry.

Do cigar stores tend to sell snuff or is that something to purchase online, too? I don't even know where there is a cigar store. Is Stonewall kept behind the counter at drugstores with the smokes and the Nicoderm?

Question: If I'm topping off on a regular basis, when am I supposed to clean the cartomizer?

That's the way to do it. Count the cigs you avoided, not the ones you smoked.

I keep topping them off frequently. Can't hurt, while underfilling will lead to burning. You'll figure it out, with practice.

Sorry, I don't know.. I get mine online

I don't clean cartomizers, but many people do. Do a search on ECF--tons of tips. I just discard them after they've processed 5-7ml of eliquid. I like my cartos fresh.
