First, it's vaping. Second, my advice would be to read as much as you can here on the ECF. People will try to convince you that "This Mod is THE BEST !" Don't listen. Start with a basic start-up kit. Having over $1000 of equipment sitting unused on a shelf six months from now would suck. A quality Mod/ Tank combo can be had for well under $100.
Try several different flavors from several different vendors. Sorry, but all tastes are subjective. Anyone who tells you "These Juices are THE BEST !" are merely stating their opinion. What I like (NET, Bakery, Sweets) might not appeal to you.
Don't be discouraged if your first couple of tries are unsatisfying. ANTHING is better than tobacco.
Good Luck on your Journey.

I had the egrip, then it doesn't work anymore so went to buy a kangertech and now it doesn't work and only after reading up I realised that we need to change the head very frequently. What a dumb .... Well anyhow I have no source here in my country and so I can't change and use any of those (I prefer the egrip though for its compact size)

Now trying to read more to learn more and unfortunately I'm back to analog cig since none of my vapes work.

PS: Sorry for the typo :) and u guys are a great bunch

Can you get a Wismec Presa or a eLeaf Ismok ?
(and, yes, I may have misspelled them)
Both of those seem popular and reliable, but it has been a long time since I looked at start-up gear. There a several places that sell these products. Not sure on reliable, inexpensive tanks. Kanger might be able to help along those lines.
Can I ask what country you are in ?

Yup on all this.. start small but not too small. The only thing I tend to recommend is to get something still decent.

The advise I would give is:
1) Consider skipping the Ego-types (the smaller e-cigarettes/pen types) and such, as they are no longer the best "starter kit" as they are very limited and many smokers that go with these are so disappointed that they go back to smoking due to the bad experience and believing that they (the ego-types) are "standard vaping". Also, there's a LOT of them out there that are really cheap crap and getting a decent one is not that easy.

2) If you're planning to vape for a while and want to invest in something that will last a while, look for mods that you can switch out the battery, so that when the battery dies, you can replace it, or have a few spares for on the go (and get an external charger). Higher Wattage is not really needed, many vape a fairly average wattage, and the larger mods (dual or triple batteries) can be great to have for battery life... my single battery mods require 4-5 switch of batteries (or requires recharging) for a full day's worth of vaping, while my dual mod, will last me all day. But this all depends on what you use and the wattage needed.

3) Lots of liquids, I mean lots of lots. If you're somewhere that stores can let you try some out, do it, lots of flavours, blends, etc. some can be great, others might sound good but won't be to your liking... and in time, you might consider DIY (do it yourself), as it's a lot cheaper, and then you can figure out the flavours that you like for yourself.

4) building coils and such, if you're curious about it, it can be very simple or you can go more advance. Depending if you go with a regulated mod or mechanical one.

And just ask away...

Well I reside in Singapore so getting liquids, coils, heads etc are like no go.
I liked the egrip I used previously but can't get the head here so that's in the drawer. My subox mini , I'm trying to understand how I can change the head myself and also no go so far.

It's a challenge here with limited sources so many a times with the steep learning curve, I had to stop then smoke analog again which is what I'm doing.

However with the birth of my babies I really want to quit and am desperately trying to figure all these out now

You can buy very cheaply (like USD$4) an RBA deck for your Subtank Mini which can be quite easily rebuilt using simple, non-controlled supplies that have many other uses like cotton wool and resistance wire.

It's also *really* cheap - you can buy supplies to rebuild heads for *years* for a few bucks.

Usually, whatever you have, the battery/mod section is usable, so that's good news.
I don't know the eGrip type that well, but if you have no choice but to buy coils, then that sucks.
If supplies are hard to obtain, but you can legally buy Kanthal, try to source tanks that have an RBA section (a rebuildable atomizer head) or tanks that use coils and/or the RBA. There are lots of these now.
It's complicated in countries where Vaping is difficult; we sympathize.

She already has the Subox kit, which comes with a Subtank Mini, so if she has the OCC heads that need replacing, she could rebuild those (plenty of YouTube videos/forum posts detailng how to) or she could buy an RBA section, some resistance wire (or some pre-rolled coils) and some cotton wool and rebuild that way.

I am using a rba section on the subox mini and today just attempted to clean out all the gunk that was left over a month ago.
The coil "looks" ok still (not that I know how to tell if it's OK hahaha) so next will be to attempt the Rewick and see what happens

I am not familiar with a subox mini, but I do know how I clean my RBA's ; 1) put a small pot of water on to boil. 2) submerge RBA in 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for about 5 minutes. 3) Using small kitchen strainer, drain Alcohol and place RBA into the now boiling water. 4) After 5 minutes, use the same strainer to drain boiling water, and set RBA to side to cool.
If you really want to check your coils, use a MultiMeter set for Ohms. A good 4 or 5 second test will tell if your coil is stable, or unsafe.
