Ok I need some advice or sugestions on local brand flavourings. As DIYers know that LorAnn flavours are very popular. It's a very concentrated Gourmet Candy cake flavouring.
But I wanted to know about our own local essence & oil brand "Star". It's very common here in local with chefs here baking homemade cakes.
How is the that brand compare to example LorAnn?
Any DIYers here can give a view on this Star brand essence, is it good or bad quality compare to LorAnn flavourings.

If the local brand can't make it, any store suggestion that sells LorAnn cheap and with varieties of flavours besides Ebay?

I don't use Star brand so can't tell you much. Tried LorAnn but don't really like them, prefer TPA flavors. You already know the cheapest place to get LorAnn.

For local flavorings, most use Bake King or Redman for mixes. Personally, I like those Redman Konnyaku flavors but they have an undertone which either you'll love it or hate it.

Go for TPA flavors. U can't go wrong with them for DIY. [MODERATED]

I am done with local flavors :p With HC some of it is pretty decent but i think i shall soon be moving on TPA.

TPA experts can you suggest what would the percentage of flavor be for a 10 ml mix .

Talking about juices, i may be wrong, but i think when i was buying locally - much of the juice was adulterated. When i initially opened the bottle, the juice was fragrant and good but as days go by the balance mix in the bottle looked dilute.

Ok normally I don't follow by the book or formula. It's just like how u make coffee or Milo to each different taste. For flavours I just go according to my taste ..... I mix about 2ml for testing than if not enough coffee I add a bit more. I love a harder taste flavour so my vanilla can be 1ml to 1.5ml for a 10ml juice. As for Nic if u can get one that is, than u must use the formula because its hazardous..........

You are right some essences are a bit dilute but does not matter to me because I just add a bit more.

Hey guys if you search in the forum, there is actually a recipe book for DIY that people post! But sadly I forgot what category it is under ecf, just saw it last month

I have both of them - ejuice me up & juice calculator. But they make things very complicated.

For eg. i would expect rootbeer to be just rootbeer flavor % and pg/vg % but in their rootbeer concotion it is rootbeer & sweetcream & wintergreen

It would great though if local sites which specializes in selling purely TPA flavors would actually put up recipes on their site using TPA flavors. you know what i mean

TPA has 140+ flavors..... I think the boss can quit his day job and test flavor everyday liao.

A good base to start for TPA is 7% for non-tobacco and 5% for tobacco. Then work ur way up.

Koolada use at 7%, menthol at 5% or even 3%

Add 3% ethyl malthol and 1% smooth flavor to round off the harshness.

Always mix and match and experiment. I still have 30+mls of sock juice at home. Anyone wants it?

Here's a good start for you guys looking for flavor mixes. If memory serves correctly it links off into TPA and others:

Hey everyone!
My first post! Just wanna ask for thoughts.

I recently got an EGOT with Hangsen Mint King and Energy Cow. Read this thread and thought to give the diy juice a try.

I bought Glycerin BP from Guardian ($7.25) and a bottle of Bake King strawberry essence ($1.85).. only missing the N stuff, but I thought to try a 0 nic juice for first DIY.

Any thoughts on my two ingredients so far?

If I were you I would rather get the pre mixed bases from your supplier and just add in the flavors however you like it to be. Not all things sold in guardian are food grade, in a post earlier someone mentioned that some are for external use.

But wouldn't the BP (British Pharmacopoeia) designation mean it is pharmaceutical grade? Even more zai then food grade?
