    Please advise.
What do i need to start?
    Where can i buy?
My friends are all using different brands and flavors, dont know how or where to start.
    Welcome and glad you joined.

Welcome to the forum. I began vaping in August 2017 after smoking for over 40 years. I dual used for nine months and had my last cigarette about 20 months ago. I am not unique - though it took me longer to quit smoking than many others here. Getting started can be difficult and expensive - finding the right device(s), eliquids that you enjoy etc., But if you want to quit smoking, vaping is definitely worth a try.

    you shall never smoke again!
either start with a pod system or a mouth to lung tank (the vaporizer_ they can come in a kit or you buy the device with the power separately).

they will both vape in a mouth-to-lung style (MTL) and both can be used with higher nicotine content, say 12mg(per ml) in Freebase Nicotine or in Nicotine Salts as high as you want (you don't need higher than 20mg/ml_ you can't get any higher in Europe, btw)

Nicotine salts are ligher on the throat despite the high nic. I have read and experience that they take effect quicker as well (there is some deniers, but i couldn't have quit without it_ better than cigarettes!)

here's some of the famous pod systems, there's much more though

heloo welcome to pages so friendly it's hard to believe the members aren't paid to spread the culture

Here's some from the major brands presented by famous reviewers:

Authentic Smok Novo Pod System 450mAh AIO Starter Kit - Prism Chrome & Red Cobra

Before I moved on to tastier clouds (which you might want to do, and the forum helps_ I do testify, as a recent convert), I'd quit analogs on an itty bitty plastic kiss, from a lesser manufacturer

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10054955/9664617-authentic-justfog-minifit-370mah-pod-system

I trust you take this as mere information with no pressure at all_ the important thing is to stay away from cigs, what ever you have to do (I mean, most of us here use chinese products [online shops can get very very cheap], contributing to everything from child labour to genocide, so one can't preach)

i recommend the Zlide tanks (or the new Zenith Pro) by Innokin_ though i haven't tried the latter. you can buy them in a kit (with the actual machine_ they are all prebuilt batteries though, which can be a positive, though many prefer buying mods with external batteries_ not that there's a reason why a built-in wouldn't last a year or too if it good)

here's the kits and tanks, from the most popular vendor around here

    https://www.fasttech.com/search?zlide kit

    https://www.fasttech.com/category/3006/clearomizers-tanks?sort=r&keywords=zlide+

the usual recommendation is start with a pod system and more up to MTL, then many people take a fancy to it and move to Direct to Lung (more shisha than cigarette), but on the latter your nic content has to drop because it burns your throught with the high power/heat (experience and consensus. some iron throats here say they handle it, but i smoke upwards of a pack a day of Rothmans and couldn't so..)

-pods involve buying replacement pods and juice_ doesn't involve replacing the coils inside as theyre built in
-tanks you replace the coil (premade, still easy, esp. with drop-in coils like zlide)
there's midway gear know as AIO (All in one), but never tried it. it's a pod-like device, but with a removable coil)

everyone here will be most helpful,
you can post threads with specific to general questions and keep asking until you buy and beyond,
everyone is frighteningly helpful and gracious, helped me quite a lot
    welcome!

Hey virm, good job! It feels good to help new members doesn't it?
Jun1303, welcome! It's going to be hard at first... you may need lots of nicotine (I started with 18mg) and it's OK if you still cheat and have a few smokes... it happens. Whatever device you get, also get a backup. Worst thing is when you are doing great and then there's an issue with your device (so tempting to give in and smoke) You can do this. Lots of good people ehere to help with advice and support.

Hello and welcome, @Jun1303. One of our members, @Baditude, has put together a pretty comprehensive guide for new vapers. You can find it here: (4) Good Starter Setups for a Beginning Vapor | E-Cigarette Forum. He does spend a bit of time talking about Ego battery setups, which I consider dated and not the best idea, but it's an excellent introduction to the options and the sort of decisions you'll need to make.

I'll start you off with an overview of the three types of vaping. Once you pick a type to start with, you can take a closer look at the options.
    • Pod mods: Small, discreet, short battery life, inhale like you would a cigarette. Uses a relatively small amount of very high nicotine juice.
    • MTL (mouth-to-lung): A bit bigger, has options for a much longer battery life, inhale like many people do a cigarette (suck vapour into your mouth and then inhale it). Goes through a small to medium amount of high nicotine juice.
    • DL (direct lung): Same size and battery options as MTL, but inhale directly into your lungs. Goes through a lot of low nicotine juice.
Regarding the ejuice usage, the idea is that you can get roughly the same amount of nicotine from any type of vaping. At one end you use a little bit of high-concentration juice, while at the other you use a lot of low-concentration juice.

    yep.
esp. with newcomers since i'm still fresh myself and know the problems more than the vets i think.

FYI i disagree completely on the allowing cheating thing_ your taste preference will continue to oscillate if you keep shifting.

you can oscillate betweem DL and high nic pods (instead of analogs) to weaken the nic gradually, but not with analogs i say.

What I meant was don't beat yourself up if you can't completely give up the smokes right off. Some people try and don't instantly succeed and might tell themselves "I can't do this" Yes, if it gets tough, vape like hell, up your nic, chew on a piece of wood (that was a metaphor) or even try snus (that can help because you are getting some of the "extra" stuff you miss from tobacco) Someone else on here always says "every cig you DON"T have is a victory".

It's a little packet of tobacco - think of a teabag - that you hold against your gums. I think it's Swedish, originally.

ooh i have tried those_ in sweden even i think, i was 17 and some other kids were handin'em out_ they meant to stab your gums a bit weren't they_ bag often broke_
to each their own i guess
