take the PT III apart and clean it, put it back together

lets look at this picture:

everything is designed to fit at specific dimensions
so be sure the tank is screwed together good
never use dry o-rings, use a drop of juice to 'lube' them

be sure tank is threaded together tight, but NOT SUPER TIGHT

be sure the coil IS TIGHT in the base, again a drop of juice on o-ring

add juice, screw base into tank, allow wicks to saturate

;)

Thank you all, I will try all of this. Good news on this front though, I didn't think my dad was using his vaporizer but turns out he does at work so I asked him if he had any problems with the new heads.. he said no. So when I change this coil, any day now, he will supervise and hopefully show me what I'm doing wrong.. and a lot of what he suggested echoes what ya'll are saying. So it is probably operator error which I would prefer cause then it can be fixed.

:vapor:

If you do find out from your local store, please fill us in on what happens. I was planning on buying a pt3 and am pretty darn new to this and would love to know about this in case it happens to me! Thank you :)

Yes I sure will hun! :)

Shawna - There are 2 versions of the PT3 heads. The original BDC (bottom dual coils) had a short chimney. I have quite a few of these myself. A couple months ago Kanger released a new version of the BDC that has a longer chimney that looks more like the PT2 coils.

Flooding the coils will cause juice to get into you mouth when you vape. Flooding is caused by not all the juice being vaporized by the coils when they heat.

eLiquids are a combination of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, and different eLiquids come with different ratios which makes some eLiquids thicker than others. This link has a good explanation, Propylene Glycol vs. Vegetable Glycerin E-Liquid | E-Cigarette Reviews and Rankings.

Once a tank has flooded, take it off your battery, hold a kleenex to the driptip and gently blow through the connector at the bottom of the tank. This will get rid of the excess eLiquid.

To fix the problem there are a couple things to try. Increase the airflow through the tank. This will not draw as much liquid to the coils. Increase the power to the battery by increasing the voltage or wattage. This will cause the coils to burn hotter burning more eLiquid.

Ok, thank you so much for the link about the pg/vg differences. I've just been going 50-50 mix and now I'm thinking, from what I read, I want more pg in there. That was very useful info, and again I thank you.

The problem is it's flooding every few hits. If I do that when it floods would it then stop it from doing it again?

But I also have tips I am gonna try from here *ty all* and like I said my father is going to look at it for me as well... good luck to me.

Most eLiquid distributors I have seen have standard mix ratios, like 70/30 (70%PG,30% VG) or 50/50. 50/50 will be thinner than 70/30. You may need to make some adjustments for 50/50 mixes. Since they are thinner, it would only make sense that a 50/50 mix would flood a head more easily.

Another thing to consider is your vape style. If you're taking short, quick vapes, this will draw more eLiquid into the head faster. Take slower, gentler vapes. Also, push down on power button on the battery as you move the device towards your mouth. This gives the coils a chance to start warming up before you vape.

If you are still unhappy with the PT3, think about trying another type of clearomizer. If you become a verified member, there are good deals to be found in the classifieds and co-op sections.

And, last but not least, if you're the adventurous type you can always try rebuilding the PT3 heads. There are numerous threads on ECF and how to videos on youtube. All it requires is some Kanthal wire and organic cotton balls from your neighborhood pharmacy.

First, make sure that the coil head is screwed tightly into the base. They can sometimes come loose when you screw the tank onto your battery.

Here's a trick you can try. You see that silicone donut on the head? Well take the donut off a DIFFERENT head, and put it on upside down (so you have 2 donuts back-to-back). When you screw the tank together, the second donut will provide a seal around the bottom of the down-tube in the center. This fix works when the issue is that there's a little space between the center tube and the donut.

I presume this isn't from adding juice that gets in the center tube, since you've been vaping successfully for a while!

Welcome to ECF; good luck!

Thank You, Thank You, for ALL the wonderful tips, tricks, suggestions, and advice!

I had to make the change last night. The only thing I did different was make sure the silicone thing was on tight. I screwed in carefully and crossed my fingers, ready to try the tip of the double silicone parts if I had to, but thankfully, it's been working wonderfully!

:vapor:

Now I have all kinds of tips if it does happen again, I so appreciate that!

Thanks again for such a warm welcome. :)

Fantastic! What kind of eLiquid are you using?

atm I am vaping French Vanilla, a find from a shop that opened up a few minutes from us. Happy for the find of the shop, their prices are comparable to what I was buying online and I get to taste first. No brainer. :) Cannot wait till my next check and money assigned to buying some more liquid.

On another note, I have refilled this tank several times, had the original problem once, took out and tightened bits, and have had no more problems. YaY!

(sorry it took so long to reply, took a few days to check back in then our wifi went down!!)

Hi Shawnna, and mazel tov on getting your problem fixed!

The people here at ECF are, indeed, extremely helpful. I'm still a newbie, myself, and I'm still using off-the-shelf brand vaping gear (Halo Triton). Haven't gotten into mods yet like you have. Planning to soon, though. And I'm sure at some point that I'll be needing help from ECFers, myself.

Welcome to the family!
