hi new to ecf have some questions just need a point in the right direction

Have the nautilus on the Itaste vv v3 and I love it. Been wanting to go mech with an rda so I finally got a trident RDA with a nemisis mechanical mod and some 28g kenthal. I bought the Sony vtc4 batteries and was wondering if that's a good battery to "experiment" with. I'll want to try different coil builds and was wondering if I would be OK going down to sub ohms and being up in the 2.2 range. If someone could point me to some good coil information along with some battery info that would be awesome. Thanks in advance

Check out Baditude's sub ohm chart. You are in the red with a VTC4 at 0.2 - I assume that's what you meant by 2.2? If you haven't done sub-ohm vaping before I would highly recommend starting out a bit higher. I have my atty built to 0.4 right now and it's a freight train.

Welcome to the forums. Please take a look at Baditude's battery stuff.

The whole world of vaping is up to you, just remember to check Ohm's law and use an ohm meter before you fire a coil. I used Google to find information on coils and you tube has quite a few videos on coil building. Don't be discouraged if your first attempts at coils do not look anything like the ones on video, mine did not and they have gotten better.

Find what YOU like. Some people get more joy out of build a beautiful setup than they do vaping it. If you build to vape then build what you want not the latest strange coils. If you vape to build go with the new strange ones.

For early builds I would stay away from real low ohm builds and work your way down as low as you need to go. I have found that I am happy around .8 now and currently don't have any plans to go lower.

First off welcome to the ecf. and your choice of gear looks spot on. the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/coil-builds/416271-micro-coils-increase-vapor-flavor-th.html thread is probably the best place to learn quickly to become a competent and consistent builder. the online Ohm's Law Calculator is my favorite tool for dialing in builds, amps and watts for desired setups.

Your current regulated should suffice as an ohm meter, but you will find having an atomizer ohm meter or an actual ohm/volt meter to be a handy tool to acquire.

Everything one needs to know, when venturing down the path of mechs, builds, batts, and anything vape related, can be found in this forum. Use it wisely.

I was just wondering if I could build coils from say .8 up to 2.2 but after reading everything that question was answered. A few more were raised though. There seems to be a lot of discussion about what types are safe to use. I see the vtc4 are a hybrid and so many people recommend them. So are they OK for an unregulated mechanical mod? I also can't seem to find where it talked about the wattage of the battery. Something about it changing based on resistance vs volts?

I've found I like a cooler, tastey vape with dense clouds. Any recommendations on coil to achieve that? I read that whole micro build thread and I think that's where I will start. Long, tight coil in the 1.5 range.

I should note I bought an ohm meter and I believe a nitecore? Charger. I'll probably get a nice supply of different size kenthal after a build or 2 :] patiently awaiting my packages and hoping my batteries are legit as I bought them from amazon.. In the meantime I'll be enjoying my Nautilus knowing I haven't smoked a CIG in almost 3 weeks. Thanks for the replies

Got my wire today so here is my first coil in what I believe is a Helios a friend gave me. My itaste reads 1.1 ohms at 7 wraps, hits nice. Warmer vape, maybe a little more vapor than my nautilus. I notice a lot more of the pink lemonade flavor coming out though. A lot more flavor. Gonna try another wrap on my next one. Maybe find something a little smaller to wrap around.
