hi (great forum by the way) I have been vaping since Jan 2013 and I am not sure if i am over doing it I started smoking at 15yrs old im now 31 but i only ever smoked 10 a day

now im vaping a 16mg of nicotine cartridgea day with a rechargable e-cig rom TEN motives is that too much? it says its 25 cigarettes a cartridge but I find myself constantly puffing on it, if i drink i may even do 2 cartridges... any advice is appreciated thanks

oh and Im changing from TEN motives they have a nasty habit of putting empty cartridges in the packet so i have been paying for say 3 for the price of 5 most of the time

Hi and welcome!

I'm not familiar with your set-up, but as far as cartridges...ha ha ha ha ha! I don't know where they get 25 cigarettes, usually the companies claim a cartridge is equal to 1.5 packs of cigarettes (which we all know is 25, but I think they think it sounds like more). The cartridges never last that long.

Hi saintric welcome to the forum.
If the product is that bad switching definately sounds like a good idea.
With regards to if your vaping to heavy I have been told that the 25 cigs per cartridge is very misleading and the actual equivalency could be much lower according to how you vape. If you are having no signs of nicotine overdose eg. nausea, headache, etc then you shouldn't have too much to worry about.

Not doing to much, need to step up your game so you can consume three 4ml tanks of juice in a day. lol.

Okay so maybe I'm overdoing it a bit some days, but my build is hitting like a volcanic eruption and just can't get enough.

A day at work I find that can vape about a 4ml tank of juice. But then for every 80 minutes that I work, I get a 20 minute vape break, and usually vape for the entire 20 minutes. that's like a continuous 2 hours of vape. or equivalent to smoking 2 cigs per break.

Only you can say if you over indulging, know I am, lol

A lot of the "cigalike" starter kits overstate the equivilancy of their e-cigs to real cigarettes. Trust their estimates with a grain of salt.

I recommend getting away from the pre-filled cartridges, buy blanks and fill them yourself. You'll save a bundle of $$ and it's not difficult or that time consuming.

If your battery "just has to be" the size of a cigarette (not recommended, but many of us did start out with them), probably the best company to go with is Smokeless Image. They sell both pre-filled & blank cartomizers to help you make the transition, and offer two lines of e-liquid flavors. The nicotine strength you should use depends upon your experience. For the amount that you smoked (1/2 ppd), 12 mg is a good strength to begin with. Depending upon how satisfactory that is, increase to 18mg or decrease to 6 mg.

A bigger battery is always going to perform better than a smaller one. Most people will recommend the eGo class of batteries. About the size of a cigar. A typical recommended setup would look like this one.

Another alternative is go with a "mod" or APV (advanced personal vaporizer) like the MVP. The original version (MVP1) goes for around $50. Has a built-in battery that will last 2-3 days between charges. Is about the size of a smart phone so fits well in a pocket. Built sturdy and has a classy look - not like something from a head shop or a woman's play toy. Comes with an USB charging cord and wall adaptor, and a clearomizer tank or two.

Hi, Saintric, and welcome to ECF. I had tried the cigalikes several years ago, and after spending about $500 on equipment and cartridges, I gave up, put them all in a box, and returned to analogs, which I had never really quit. I would puff away for half an hour on the ecig, and then turn around and smoke a cigarette. So, several years later I was turned on to an eGo-C starter kit, and now I'm analog-free. Yes, upgrade is the answer!

wow thanks for the quick replies they are really appreciated

you know what I have suffered from IBS for a long time before I started vaping but recently I have had some terrible stomach aches I have seen my doc who has sent me for an unltrasound ect but I never thought to mention the nicotine im smoking with e-cigs...interesting I will change a bit see if it helps?

haha couldnt agree more that they do not last like 25 cigarette would and I guess I should look into the other ways of vapings im still playing around with what I enjoy but will take on board all your suggestions. At least if any of you come across TEN motive products you know to generally stay well clear! the people putting the cartridges together must be slacking at work and not filling them up lol

thanks again everyone

The cartridge to cigarettes claims made by some vendors are misleading because it is impossible to calculate an equivalency in numeric terms. A qualitative comparison can be made, based on your own experience and what satisfies you.

I smoked 30 cigarettes a day and I go through about 5ml of liquid a day. So, for me, 1ml of liquid is the same as about six cigs.

Since you and I use different devices and different liquids, your results will be different.

I'd recommend getting the most efficient system you can afford, get the best tasting liquid you've ever tried, and use that combination until the cravings subside and don't worry too much about the math.

For what it's worth, I just started vaping. I smoked about 10 cigarettes a day before that. I tried 18mg/l nicotine and I think that was too much for me. I started getting a mild headache and I very, very rarely get headaches. I went down to using 12mg/l nicotine juice and that seems like a better fit for me.

Just thought I'd mention that since your cigarette usage was about the same as mine.

Dice,

You sound like me LOL

About 30 mil a week and 42% yes 42!

I vape like a dragon Ha, and I love it!

I vape if I wake up in the middle of the night...LOL

BTW for all you doubters, I was a cigar smoker, and when I was at work I would smoke Swisher filtered cigars, about 4 packs a day, then go home and smoke a Real cigar....

I have three humidors filled with fine cigars, now I have maybe, maybe one every few months...

I used to go through a box of fine cigars in a week, now tell me that wasn't expensive, on top of the swisher'!
