Hi all. After doing a bit of off and on lurking over the past few weeks I thought I ought to go ahead and register. I've already found lots (okay, sometimes too much
) of great info here but have realized that it might be nice to be able to post questions of my own and at some point maybe even offer help to someone else.
Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. A quick synopsis of my (and my husband's) smoking and vaping history - we've both smoked for oh, most of the last 22 years. Ouch, has it really been that long? Moving on...we've tried to quit off and on over the years in a variety of ways with little success. Last month we went on a family vacation for five nights and couldn't smoke anywhere on the property where we were staying. We knew the vacation was coming well in advance and the plan had been to quit (ha!) before then. Well, a few weeks before the vacation it became obvious that wasn't going to happen so it's a good thing I remembered the e-cig my husband's uncle had brought with him on one of his visits. That was years ago and PVs have come a long way since then but it helped to know that such a thing existed. Of course I hurriedly ordered us a couple of kits since the thought of trying to quit cold turkey while sharing a house with my extended family put me in a cold sweat.
We started with a 510T, not ideal but we didn't know better. Like just about everyone else we thought we wanted something that while not necessarily looking just like an analog was similar in size. Also thought we didn't want to deal with carts, hence going with tanks. But we quickly tired of the short battery life and the leaking tanks as well as the hard (would that be stiff or tight? don't know the right term for what I'm trying to describe) draw and the auto batteries. We moved on to a Riva 510 and Boge LR cartos. For us, the Riva has been light years better than our first set up.
But still, not quite perfect. My husband is already thinking of a larger battery that will get him through his entire work day. Both of us are happy with Boge cartos but tired of topping off. They also don't play well with my juices, particularly BWB Malty Toffee. Hubby wants something that will hold enough juice to get him through the day (J-tank or Liquinator maybe?) along with the bigger battery he's craving. I might like the same thing but need something fairly low profile. Thinking about trying some EMDCCs or Echo-e cartos but am bummed that it seems they won't work with the awesome twisted drip tips we just ordered. Sigh... This is quickly becoming an expensive habit.
Speaking of habits...my husband has given up analogs easily, much more so than me. He dropped down to one or two a day right after getting our first kit and had stopped completely before we went on vacation. I, on the other hand, smoked up until getting in the car and only stopped for those five nights and started again when we came back. Since getting our Rivas I've found vaping to be far more satisfying and don't miss analogs most of the time. But every weekend when we drink alcohol I can't resist buying a pack to go along with it. Blech! It's driving me crazy! The nasty taste, the smell, the smoke. I hate it and regret it almost immediately, even more so the next day. But does that stop me from lighting up on Saturday night when we crack open a drink? Nope. And I can't figure out why I keep doing it to myself when I don't even enjoy it. I suppose it's all in the craving and the lack of willpower. If I had more of the latter I'd exercise every day and be 40 pounds lighter too! But that's another story.
There is one thing that I think would help me fight this weekend analog problem and that's finding the perfect liquid to go with my drink of choice. Does anyone have any recommendations for something that goes well with Twisted Tea?
Wow, what began as a simple intro turned into quite the novel. If you've managed to stick with me this long, thanks! I look forward to being part of the forum.
