This is rayon, so there is less than I'd use for CB, but not by a whole lot.

Another possibility is that you're getting this reaction from the flavorings in the liquids you use. Each of us has a different palate and some of us are sensitive to certain flavorings. Giving a fresh wick a try with unflavored might help you nail down where this is coming from.

Welcome to ECF and good luck!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I guess I will have to mix unflavored.

Try looser wick first. Your symptoms really do point to that. Can't tell from the pic. But the hot metal taste (like an iron) is a dead giveaway to me, well about a 95% dead giveaway lol

When you are pulling a cotton through the coil when wicking it, there should be very little resistance. I know, "very little resistance' is hard to convey in text, but if you watch some videos on youtube about how to wick and rta opr rda, you can understand it better on a video.

Here is a picture of my hadaly build.

The coil looks like it has not been test fired before wicking.
Remove wick and confirm that the coil heats evenly (orange is hot enough).
Strum/pick coil as needed to ensure even, center out heating.

Wash hands before wicking to avoid skin oils/dirt on the wick.

You're doing fine! keep at it!

Cheers

@JustAZoomer, am I seeing things. But does your positive post insulator look a little melted?

And when you next coil your RDA, dissassemble it and give it a good clean.

Simmer o rings with a drop of dish soap or washing up liquid for about 1/4 of an hour, then rinse very well with clean water.

For all metal parts and insulators as well, scrub well with toothpaste (smokers) and a toothbrush (old) then rinse well. This can help a lot with conductivity as it helps to remove surface oxidisation, it also helps round off sharp edges and a good side effect is that it also helps season the atomiser with a minty freshness.

When I first got it I completely disassembled it and scrubbed every little part with a toothbrush and dish soap. The insulator is not melted it just has a bit of space and it was like that out of the box.

I notice if I dry fire a coil until glowing I can sometimes detect a metallic taste so I make a spaced coil and only dry fire it enough to burn off oils without it glowing.

Also if a coil is being used too long I detect a metallic taste. I vape NET e-liquids so I have to change daily.

Certain coil metals have a different taste to me. I personally like SS 316L, perhaps it's psychological, but it has the cleanest taste to me. Mostly I like it for temperature control. Granted I've only tried that and kanthal, NiFe30, and I believe another nickel alloy, just can't remember offhand. NiFe30 was nice for my Dicodes mod, just way too expensive for me. Have you tried different metals for your coils, or even different brands of the same metals?

Update, I mixed some unflavored 75vg/25pg 0mg. There is no metallic taste and my throat doesn't get harsh.
So it must be the nicotine or a flavoring that gives me that sensation.
I'm glad you could start eliminating the causes. Now the next step - unflavored with nicotine. If that works, it's time to start adding flavorings, one by one, to know which ones are giving you that sensation. Even though it's a pain, you're soon going to know which vapes work well for you and there are probably a lot of flavors that are fine. There's light at the end of this tunnel!

Hi to all, last year I decided to quit smoking and replace it with vaping.
The reason I'm making this post is because I need some advice, I've been struggling from the beginning and even after purchasing numerous RDAs, for some reason I get a dry feeling from my vape and a kind of metallic taste although I properly install my coils (checking for hotspots in a dark room, pinching them till they are completely gone, etc).

What could be the reason for such experience?
A qualifier: I don't RDA but had similar experience.
1st I can't use metal drip tip
2nd Obviously drink enough Water
3rd nCheck metals you're using in your Vape equip. Hope its just dry hits otherwise could you be Vaping Excessively for you? Be well
