If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes
eLiquid/Juice
PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.
VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"
PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

Hi..about the 'general guideline' regarding strengths was one of my main questions. I was misinformed by a friend to start with 18 mg or higher as the cigs I smoked were 1.8 ??? I smoke roughly 15 a day but i have cut down on 'cigs' but obviously I'm overdoing the vape level. Thankyou I'm goingstraight g
Hi again my first reply to u is awaiting monitoring...basically i just said re strength iv been smoking is 18 and occasionally 24 in another clearo. A friend said because the cigs i smoke are 1.8 i should start at 18 or 24 ! I smoked 15 a day and surprisingly id cut way down....I was vaping around half a 1.6 clearo with 18 or 24 mg liquid. I had stomach pains,nausea and headaches. So back to smoking these past few days. Now i have the correct info I will get new low strength juice tomorrow. If you were really smoking 1.8mg cigarettes then I would recommend 18mg or more as well in a standard low-power e-cigarette. You can move that down to 12mg in a medium power, 6mg at sub-ohm levels (18w or more) and so on....
I smoked hand-rolled cigarettes that depending on thickness were rated higher than 1.2mg per cigarette.
The guidelines are a general suggestion based on the amount smoked. My 15 hand rolled were more nicotine than a pack (20) of lights and maybe the same as 30 ultra-lights.
To be honest, I've yet to meet a vaper who couldn't tell when they have vaped too much or too strong.
If you were really smoking 15 x 1.8mg cigarettes, then you are going to need to vape a lot of low strength liquid.... I make it that you were consuming the same Nicotine as a 25-a-day smoker of the famous gold version of the worlds famous cowboy killers.

Hi...I was using a 650 stick starter kit with 2 clearomisers 1 had 24mg the other 18mg. I vaped roughly half of each. I still smoked about 5 real smokes throughout the day especially on waking. No wonder i felt I'll ! But me and my friend were sitting outside in the garden and she said i sit most of my CIG in the ashtray something i never done before I tried vaping. Sorry I don't know why I threw that in maybe I did cut down more cigs than I thought. Right I've bought an 1100 battery today and a 16 & 14 mg juice. I'mnot sure where to start from now.
I would say I definitely smoke 15 and when vaping I was still smoking around 5...Am i making sense ?
Yes, a 650 'stick' is a regular eGo battery. 1,100 is just a bigger version.
With a 1.6ohm, you'll probably not be wanting to drop lower than 12mg unless you are feeling brave.

Sorry for my late response. Well im going to stick with the 16mg even t though I'm vaing more I'm smoking less cigs. Can't get passed the first one in the morning and after meals I reckon that's down to willpower. If i cant give up these last cigs I will go back up to the 18 and do it the hard way lol make sursure IV not got a cig to waken up to. U burst my bubble lol I thought the 1100 gave me a better puff for lack a word than the standard 650,not knowing it only lasts longer. I will give this stick a chance and the 16mg and see where to go from there. I'm really confused to Watts votage omh so I think my best bet would be going to a proper ecig shop where you get to try out the batteries and hopefully i get proper advice on what to buy not like the wee shops IV already bought 3 starter kits from. I really appreciate your help DJs but like u mustv guessed I'm pretty dense to this vaping stuff. Cheers..no doubt I will be back asking for help on bottom fill coils soon ! I have a couple IV not opened for fear of flooding them like I did when I got them with the kits. I'm using top fill clearomisers again from the corner shop so not entirely sure of quality. £3.99 each which isn't near a pack of cigarettes but I was replacing them quite often till I got top fillers.
