The only clearos I really liked that I tried are the iclear lineup. 16 and 30. I have not tried the 30s yet.

I ran the gambit on bottom coils though. Protanks, evods, davide, etc. I tried the vision line of top coils as well.

The iclears are still in my rotation, vaping an iclear16 rt now. But I like carto tanks more.

That is the best I can say.

Based on all of the good opinions on here, and a few YouTube videos (anybody else seen rip trippers nano coiled Protank?) I think I'm going to pick up a few of these clearos over the next couple weeks to try out. So far I'm thinking a PT2, iClear 30s, and an Aspire BDC. Oh and I haven't heard anything about the aspire yet except for pbusardo's review, anybody here tried it?

I'm currently using an Anyvape Viva bcc and I really like it. Protanks were too airy for me and the iClear 16's were too warm and I thought they went through lots of liquid for what I thought was average vape.
Advantage for me with the Anyvape are it was inexpensive, 1 fill lasts all day, uses evod coils (short) and is a much tighter draw.
Only disadvantages are the plastic tank but not an issue as I stick with the same liquid in it so no "tank crack" issues and doesn't come with a beauty ring.

I'd like to try an Aspire next and the Aro looks cool but evods work good and I already have half a dozen so it would be an impulse purchase. Thats not likely as our B&Ms all seem to believe that the Protank and evods are the only bcc tanks available.

I saw that video last night lee. Rip blows PLUMES of vapor with that protank and ran it up to like 15jigawatts! I have been recoilng my protanks with 6 wraps of 32 around 2mm silica. (I am getting good results right now if I dont wrap it too tight around the wick)

Rip SWEARS by using cotton, I guess I'm just lazy and I'm not really sure how I'd ever thread cotton thru that tiny coil, but I do wanna try it. I guess everyones end goal is the same around here, but how we get there is many roads. I for one am only looking for a nice FLAVORFUL, cool vape and a few plumes would be nice. I am not sure, but it would be my guess that RIP runs 100% because he gets massive plumes?? I dont really know yet the reason for a 50/50 70/30 or 100% pg/vg mixture? Maybe someone here could please school me to the reasons for the different mixtures.

thanks.

I went from stardusts to kanger protanks and vivi novas and now have one carto tank also. I also bought an iclear 16 because I see so many people say they like em. But I put some peanut butter cookie juice in it and it was just bleh. I'd used the juice in other tanks and it was very good. The wicking just wasn't good enough for me and the flavor seemed off. But I also use 70/30 or 100% vg juices.

there is also a review by Todd saying good things about the Aspire BDC. when you see them break it down, you understand why it might perform better than the others. personal opinion here: get a kayfun ( some cheap kayfun clones work exceptionally well also ) and you will be set till they invent some other superior vaping device. i mostly drip at home and have a kayfun or a carto tank in my pocket. super happy with the devices and super easy to setup.

Honestly the Aspire looks to be the most interesting clearo I've seen, kind of like a dual coil wrapped in a carto inside a tank. I do want to try one of them at least. And when you say you put a Kayfun in your pocket, how durable is it? And also how leakproof? I don't try to be rough on my stuff but I'm an automotive tech and s*** happens and I drop my devices unfortunately. Snapped off two drip tips since Thursday but the j tank and mods are still going strong. Would I have to worry about dropping a Kayfun?

Edit: or rather a Kayfun clone because I can't right now afford the real thing and I also wouldn't want to drop such a nice piece

the clone is a 1:1 one so is just as good as the original. not the russian because is actually more expensive than the original but a FT one. its pocket proof, no leaking. very easy to setup cause of no need for NR/R wire. it has AFC built into. good TH, good flavor and all that. put it on e mech and go crazy with LR coils. really no reason not to have one. it really is just as good as a RDA but with a tank on it.

When did a protank become "high end"??? I guess when I think high end I'm thinking about a russian or Kayfun. I haven't decided which one I want yet, Not like I could get my hands on a 91% anyway. lol

I have a few protank2 and the mini, I like them. I bought an evod, but the wheezing of the stupid thing drove me nuts. The G50 is also a good alternate to the protanks. It's glass, holds a lot of juice and it's cheap. I think I paid 15bucks for it. So it's a good cheap tank that works as well as the protanks in my opinion.

I haven't got to the end of this thread and I'm a vaping novice but protank high end? No. I moved up from an EVOD to a Mini Protank 2 and I really, really love the MP2 but high end it is not. It cost me £9.99 and I'm buying a few more as spares.

I tried to kinda explain myself earlier in this thread, and by high end I meant upgraded from ce4 (and others of the ce series) and Evod, right around $20 or so, Pyrex tank sections, unique and upgraded coils, etc... I did not by any means mean high end like a Kayfun or a steam turbine or other such very nice but very expensive devices. I realize it's not the best term to use but it's the one that came to mind when I posted this thread.

I certainly think that the ProTank series (esp. v2) are "high-end" - the build quality is fantastic, the design is great, and it's easy to use.

As for the stock coils...well, that may be another story. They're fine as they go - on par with any other stock coils in BCCs I've found - but they aren't the best.

If you want a "high-end" experience with the ProTanks - and believe me, you should want that - slip out the silica wick, slip in some cotton; there's a lot of threads on it floating around. It's been compared to the performance of RBAs, and I don't disagree.

In fact, just take any of your bottom-coil devices and cotton them. You'll realise the difference immediately!

For me, it's purely a preference thing. I've tried almost every delivery device that is out there (now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I have), and while some really soared in performance and others did not (to me), the only thing I find myself coming back to are carto tanks. Now that I've made the switch to all glass tanks, I couldn't be happier.

Protanks are OK in my opinion, but it's still a slightly flawed device (any clearo, for that matter).

A lot of new vapers put off carto tanks because of the (very small) learning curve. Priming the carto seems to be the biggest issue.

I thought this was going to be about vacuum tank RBAs..

Agreed. Strange noone mentioned the Kayfun Lite yet. It would be my first pick if I didn't think it's too big for pocketability and my lack of enthusiasm for fiber wicks.

I go with gennies... not ideal, but my jacket pockets allow them to stand upright. Will have to reconsider things when jacket-less season is coming back... which won't be for a good few months yet. Winter is coming..... :(

I've got protanks 1 & 2, and they can be great, but I my favorite is the Aro Pyrex by Smoktech. Easy to use, great flavor and cloud production, and you can use any juice you want in them. For $7-8 each, with replaceable coils, they are too economical and good to pass up. Please try them-you won't regret it!

rounding third and heading home...
as far as clearos, the davide-s with the aspire dbc are much better than any protank IMO. the best kayfun clone is the EHpro. good build quality without having to spend as much as a russian or the real kayfun. either way gives you the best flavor and taste and isn't that why we vape in the first place(besides getting our nic)?

Everybody here is giving me too many good options and tomorrow is payday, this probably isn't going to end well for my wallet..

Oh and additional question, can you use cotton in a Kayfun or Kayfun clone?

Yes, you can. Just got my EHPRO KFL clone last night and waiting on my cotton and wire to arrive to build it.
