Just a bit of background, I first started with a ce4 on an ego, it vaped alright. Then I moved on to the Evod clearomizers because a buddy gave me a couple to try and they were a whole lot better than the ce4. Stuck them on my zmax v3 and a couple mechs and they were great. Then I managed to snag a triple v tank from vvv just before they closed. Since then, I've been vaping various affordable carto tanks pretty much exclusively because for me the flavor and liquid capacity blows the Evod out of the water. I even tried a ce7 and the carto tanks still beat that in every way. I suppose the smaller, cheaper clearos most would tend to use on an ego style battery just don't impress me anymore.

Now what I'm wondering is am I missing something in not having tried higher end clearos such as the Kanger Protank series? Or even the new Aspire BDC? Every thread I see has people raving about their Protanks and such, and I don't know if this is simply because they're easier to start with and get into than carto tanks or if there's something about their performance that keeps people using them on everything from egos to Provaris to high end mechs. So clearomizer users of ECF give me your opinions, what is so great about the high end clearos that keeps people coming back? Do they really perform that well compared to other setups? And of course, should I give one or two of them a try?

And just a side note, I mainly used the Protank series as an example because I hear about them absolutely everywhere, but I'm open to opinions on any of the "higher end" clearos you've tried

I don't know anything about cartos as they are rare in Australia, expensive and disposible.
So I buy and use a lot of clearos.
I like the protank because it's just a better evod. Evods are OK, but don't last a long time, 3 of mine are cracked after 2 months, the coloured ones are all faded and chipped, the stainless ones have rust between the tank and the cover, I guess I was too harsh when cleaning them. But anyway, point is, if you like the BCC and expect better quality than the evod, then you need a higher end version, like the protank.

Disposable cartos don't appeal to me, clearomisers that can fit on my spinner when going out and I can fully customize and rebuild does appeal to me, just like I use RBAs or RDAs at home.

I don't get the BDC though, may as well buy a carto tank as the head is disposable just like a carto.

Get a dripper. Lol. I can't even use my protank anymore, because it just doesn't compare flavor/vapor wise.

I've actually got a dripper, I use it on my mechs at about 1.2 ohms and the vapor and flavor are incredible. I'm just never home and so dripping is tough for me for all day vaping. I don't think I could do it

I've got a trident clone and a igo-l for home (as well as an RSST).
I'm just talking about what I take out (usually a 1300mAh spinner and some sort of clearo)

The kanger is not my fav clearo, I prefer the iclear to be honest. The OP mentioned protanks and I was talking about their only redeeming feature, the fact that they are rebuildable/customizable.

They are just great for on the go when you don't want to take your drippers or more expensive stuff. I like Protanks, Vivi's and BCC Vapeonly's. It's all a matter of finding what tastes good to you. I tried iClear 30's and found the draw way too tight and it was flavorless. If you want the on the go taste and flavor of a dripper, I highly recommend the Taifun GS. Awesome deivce with the best flavor I've ever had in the vaping device.

i regularly use drippers and carto tanks. there are no high end clearos because they all have the same working principle. the only one different being the aspire BDC cause it has more protection ( see videos for that ). im not saying that clearos work all the same, in fact some clearos work very well, but they are very inconsistent. my best experience in devices so far is the kayfun ( works very well and has a tank ). drippers work wonders but they are not pocket friendly.

Kayfun Nirvana!
When did a protank become "high end"??? I guess when I think high end I'm thinking about a russian or Kayfun. I haven't decided which one I want yet, Not like I could get my hands on a 91% anyway. lol

I have a few protank2 and the mini, I like them. I bought an evod, but the wheezing of the stupid thing drove me nuts. The G50 is also a good alternate to the protanks. It's glass, holds a lot of juice and it's cheap. I think I paid 15bucks for it. So it's a good cheap tank that works as well as the protanks in my opinion.

I've tried all the clearomizers except for the Smoktech Aro in the last few months. They all offer similar performance, with the Innokin iClear 30 having a slight edge in flavor and vapor production - probably because of their dual coils and 16 wicks. Not up to the flavor quality of my cartotanks.

Cartotanks are more dependable and consistant than clearos. Again, probably due to a better wick system. Consider clearos only use string wicks - very small surface area. A cartotank's cartomizer uses a big wad of polyfill as it's wick which totally surrounds the heating coil - huge surface area by comparison.

You wouldn't by chance have a link to a supplier for your G50s you'd recommend do you? I've decided that's the next I'd like to try.

Wow thanks for all the responses, basically what I'm understanding is that some clearos are better than others and work pretty well for out of the house hassle free vaping, but there are much better options available. It sounds like it might be worth trying one, just to have it to toss in my pocket and go to work though.

And just to clear things up a bit, what I meant by high end was something that was more expensive than the regular ce4s and evods, so close to $20 or so and that had features like Pyrex tank sections and unique coil head designs. It might have been the wrong way to describe it but it was the only way I could think of

if you did happen to get an evod/protank type bcc you can actually rebuild the coil yourself and get a relatively better vape out of them. its kind of a knock on actually using an RDA/RBA though. its hard for some to go "backwards" in terms of vapor production and flavor.

i personally like carto tanks and RDAs. i may or may not like a microcoiled protank II as im still getting around to doing just that... its just the airy whistling that i try to avoid in all atomizers and PTs are known for it.

well, all I know is my experience,,,,,,I hated all of the CE4s and EVODs,,,,,,,just a terrible muted flavor,,,,,,

but on the advice of Baditude (thanks, BAd!!) I got myself an Iclear30,,,,,,,,love it. Exceptional flavor and vapor production,,,,I can use my vivi nova in a pinch, but it just doesn't satisfy like my Iclear 30's.

I will probably try a carto tank at some point, but frankly,,,,,,they look fiddly to me,,,,,

carto tanks are the less fiddly devices out there. if you have a good carto, it can work with all kind of juices giving a very good TH and flavor every time

Here is something from my limited experience

On ego batteries, I prefer the Protank hands down, with the juice I use. It surpasses all others I have tried for flavor, TH, and vapor. The EVOD is right behind it. I was less than impressed with cartomizers and the protank II mini. I wouldn't even use them on an ego. All are 1.8ohm coils.

On the itaste vv3 and the mvp2 with my juice, the protank is just brutal. The throat hit is just too much with a 1.8ohm coil. I have changed the wattage up and down the scale and it is just too strong for me. I would have to drop my NIC level to use it on these two devices. The PT2 mini and EVOD with the same 1.8ohm coil (on vv3 and mvp2) is great and the iClear30 (2.0ohm) is pretty good, too.

Go figure...

I still want to pick up an f17 cartotank to try them out, but I have not yet.
