My first mechanical was a 26$ clone.
I'm now looking at $200+ originals.
Without owning a clone I would never have considered paying the insane prices and fighting to get on a list for an empty milled tube..... Now I have the " bug" and want a collectible heirloom piece or three.

The first Modder that gets my cash owes every cent to me buying a clone .
(Does that mean I'm in the "LEM" Crew? )

Most started there. When I got back into mechs I bought a mbkts (I think that's what it was called) I moved on very shortly after. I'm no longer a fan of clones and counterfeits disgust me. I'm not going to stand on my soap box and tell anyone what to buy, but those are my feelings on the subject. ;)

Honestly the Modders don't loose a penny either way.
It's not like there are Nemmy's sitting on the shelf not getting sold because customers are buying clones.
Mech mods aren't something beginners spend cash blindly on, so customers aren't being fooled.

Enough on clones
This is the most informative and the most enjoyable thread on ECF.
Thank you guys and gals for 500+ pages of gold.

wut? Tell a quality builder that but, make sure to keep the car running.
I would avoid saying that on builders threads.

Welcome to ECF grasshopper :)

So tell me which mod is sitting on shelves due to customers buying clones instead?
Please be specific.
Lets be honest here.
Most high-end mods sell out very quickly and are produced in limited runs.
No one seriously interested in a 300$ king will be tricked into buying an HCigar clone for a tenth of the price. The clone buyers can't or won't spend $300 on the original.
The Modder wouldn't see any of the cash anyway... But the customer may get the "bug" and consider playing the game that comes with owning a limited original.

I own thousand-plus dollar glass pieces... But my first were not signed originals or customs, they were cheaper knockoffs of known pieces.
Just my observation, but hey I could be mistaken

The real thing is the gateway to more real things...SMH

So who is the original Modder?
You know the very first guy to manufacture and offer for sale a modified battery tube and button?
You think he's upset that dozens of modders copy his idea and call it original?

I'm just curious where you draw the line.
Is it price?
Does a $150and up admission price exclude one from scrutiny ?
Smok seems to be immune yet they happily copy others and add their name.

Funny logic regarding mods, so I'm just trying to get the gist of it.

Do you not fully understand? I will not fault you for it. If you cannot afford something, save for it. If you cannot spell "smoke" correctly, figure it out. I buy from the source or retailers advised from the source. Piss on any fakes/copies/wanna-bes that are out there.

If you want something, you'll save/barter/work for it. Price admission? Get bent. It is all about knowing/getting what you want.

Buyers like you are doing all the bending.

1. I can afford any of these mods I want, but I'm not a fool who is easily parted with cash.
I don't buy $200 t shirts either

2. Smok as in Smoktech. If you don't know the players don't try to coach the team.

I made a great living with MBNA selling sedans to buyers with your mindset.
God luv ya. Keep it up.
Just don't expect me to do it.

I stopped at the "modders don't lose a penny...." part . I had an entire page written and even went into the economics portion of the conversation a bit. Deleted it as I seem to attract the :admin: on this topic.
I thought it was me as, it is comprehensible subject matter , some just don't get it.
I at least respect clone users that get it instead of justifying it.
Wishing the best.

Hi there,

Relative noob here. I just got a brass just gg and KFl+ and love the setup. Looking for another mod too. Next up which is better king or nemesis and why? Thanks for info. Also anyone having issues with button coming out on gg?

Thanks

My 2 cents: don't pull the trigger on the King/Nemmie till you've looked into a GP mod. Paps SS, Paps Lux, or Paps X--any way you go you will be a happy camper :)

I believe very firmly that you've never experienced a great bottom button till you've used a GP ;)

Whatever way you go I'm sure you'll be pleased when the mod gets into your hands :) Good luck!
