Hey, Metamorpheus, you have just answered a few questions for me. I was never really sure what 'the gennie tilt' was. Or, how making a gennie wick-and-coil off of the atty could really work. I could never get my gennies to wick with the fill plug in. I know now that some of the time, i either had a hot leg issue or gap somewhere. Maybe it is also what Ω the coil is running at, and how much demand is being placed on the wicking--stuff i have been trying to figure out.

That setup that you have looks really SWISH!!

I worked all nite. Had an Astro clone w one of the Dids. Grandmaster by Five Pawn. It reminds me of the circus, and summer, which i PINE for right now.

Thanks to that link Thrasher posted, ive been pulse oxidizing like mad.

This is what i'm going with, for a while. 10cm RAW 400 mesh. 3 wrap 28g kanthal, on the Dids. I think it is a 3.5mm wick hole. Consistently getting 0.8Ω exactly. Wrap off the atty. Nothing annealed, make a wrap, hold it, pet the ancient cat, wrap again, hold it, take a bite of my sandwich, wrap, hold all three wraps for a minute or so. Mess around with hooking up the leads, w atty screwed onto Ω checker. When its perfect with no gaps, and I can slide wick up and down just a bit, I put atty on mod and pulse the wick oxidized. Pulse it on mod that im gonna use, with a fresh battery. If it looks kosher, i fill and vape.

Just got to make sure you don't burn a hole in the mesh. AW 18650 1600 mAh 5.9WH, or the 2000 mAh AW 18650.

Well if i dont sleep, im gonna turn into a pumpkin :D
very nice. Now all you need is some harder hitting batteries and 2 efest LUC chargers. One for your house and one for your car! no more gas station garbage. I told my local vape shop they should have a bin where you can turn in your ....ty gas station e cig for a discount off a real one after this lady came in looking for disposables and turned her nose at getting a real one. I wish someone like you was there to talk with her woman to woman ...Anyways the efest LUC charger comes with a car adapter and charges way faster than the intellicharger. You can switch between .5 and 1 amp charging with a digital display of your voltage.

AW batteries..more like Aw I bought the wong battery for more money(not making fun of you). Sorry I am an open AW nay sayer, their batteries are over hyped and over priced. The sony VTC4 2100mAh 30A is king IMO as far as this mech stuff is concerned. Runners up are the samsung 22A INR battery and the 1600mAh sony 30A. Aws aren't bad its just that they've been surpassed by newer technology that is cheaper. I got my VTC4s for 7 something a pop from Illumination supply with the coupon code. You cant really justify paying 5 dollars more for a battery(AW 2000) with lower mAh and 1/3 of the amp limit. Some AW fanboys will jump on me for saying that and come back with oh well AWs are all tested. All of them? Sure about that? All he does is rebrand panasonic cells and runs tests on some of them. Ive never heard of anyone having a problem with CGRs...anyways

I ran out of 24Ga, a sad day. I used the rest of it building someones dripper in the shop. I would say I used at least 1/3 of my 24Ga building coils for newbs and vets as well. Oh well I just placed an order from lightning vapes for 25' of 22 Ga, 100ft of 24, and 25' of 26.
I crave building new attys since I cant afford a new one(rest of my funds are going into starting a juice line) , so i just build everyones stuff at the local vape shop. Occasionally someone brings me something high end I can drool over. The kraken with wire rope and 26Ga that I built was  . I think theres something wrong with this let me take it home for the night and figure it out.

Hi my names Michael and I'm a rebuild addict. It started with building protank 2 coils, man I used to fiddle for hours. I went from ekowool to wire rope/mesh and eventually pro tanks just weren't doing it for me anymore. I moved on to the harder stuff...got my first Igo-w and I'll never forget that first high. Taking that first puff of 24mg on an RDA made me breathless like I had asthma and my eyes would wobble around in their sockets like doctor feel good gave me some ketamine with that anesthesia cocktail.
Now I'm sharing drip tips, spending all my spare cash on flavoring, rebuilding, and mods, and making/selling juice to afford my expensive habit. Now that I have you guys and have begun the process of denial I can finally get past this to the next echelon of this deliciously decadent hobby.

Now for a moment of silence for the gas station vaper who still suffers followed by the insanity prayer

God,
Grant me the insanity
to never accept that things can't be changed
The courage to change whatevers at hand
and the wisdom to give a venting battery distance
amen

@ Meta (Michael) The first step in the recovery process is admitting that you have a problem lol!!
I kept telling myself, when I pulled the trigger on the Dids, that I really did not NEED any more genesis RBAs.
WRT vaping, i have not saved a dime. I quit smoking 7/14/2006, my twin brother and sisters' 18th birthday (i was in the Navy when they were born). I actually used to chew pepper, to stave off cravings. When i started working graveyard, i switched to nicotine gum, to stay awake.

Picked up a blu disposable one night. That's all she wrote.

That dumb kit of theirs, trying to squeeze juice into those cartomisers.
Evods and Mini ProTanks were ok. I do not like building PT heads; too small of a space to work in.
Read about gennies. Became obsessed with them.

I love their vape, but there was a riddle to be solved as well. When i am researching something, I have a one-track mind. The innovation of an ss mesh wicking system fascinates me.

As fortunate as i feel for being lucky enough to afford something like a Did, or the Poldiac, it really is not the end-all-be-all of things. When i make a mistake, my Dids taste wicked AWFUL. My Aga Hydras, a twenty dollar atty, vape great and wonderful. Those Hydras really taught me to build well. Funny about the Did. You know how people (i'm guilty of having done this) LEAN the wick into the positive pin to eliminate hot leg?? Take a good look @ the Did sometime. You CANNOT do this, lol!!

Astro clone. 20$ Fasttech. Great hitting mod. I do not really see me going out and buying a real Chi You, or Bagua, or GG. As it is, i almost feel like i should be Richard Branson, standing on the deck of some lavish yacht, or something, vaping my fancy, expensive e-cig with my pinkie extended out. Get that juice line going; if you make a zero-nic cappuccino juice, i will probably try it.

P.S. I have never ever been to a brick-and-mortar store. I think that may be part of the reason it has taken me a while to learn things. My friend's son is into the sub-ohm vaping up here, and they want to open a store near Canton, OH. I told them that I will help people with their gennies. I like to teach :D and learn, as well.

I may set up the Aga S or the Two-Buck Chid. To use on an ego battery (BLASPHEMY!) I think this would make a great STEALTH setup, and to take out on my hikes. I still use blu disposables. They're gr8 for sno days. Peace!!

Some more building notes (mesh :D ) -- with the Dids, I really was not having the best of luck. I was using a poop-load of mesh for the wicks--11cm 400--basically a stick of rebar wire lol. Coiling 3 wraps 28g kanthal, 0.8-1 Ω.

Coils would light up like a dream, after pulsing oxidized. Add juice--50/50 pg vg Ry4 from Quantum Vapor. This juice, and Cappuccino, from the same vendor, are my ADV.

Had to tilt like crazy, to get any wicking (wick was not tight in the hole). The builds were so hot, they were slowly cooking my juice. My cappu would still taste ok-burnt coffee. My Ry4 tasted like a tin of sardines, after a while.

Played with my Did clones--posted another little thread about that. Had great success. 3 wrap 32 kanthal. Tiny little wick-hole on those little Chids, maybe not even 2mm.

Got me thinking. When I watched the vid that MM Vapors has about setting up the Did, the man uses a little Allen key to roll his mesh.

I decided to do something different (no, not cotton--tempted tho :p). Sort of the same idea as the Chid, but kind of an inverse. STRAW wick. You don't want to overwhelm your teeny wick on the Chid with a heavy gauge wire, like 28, or even 30. You could force-feed the goose that is the Standard Did with a massive wick, and cook that goose with 26 or 28 gauge wire. But force-fed goose, or burney-juice casserole is exactly what you are going to get, on an unregulated mech, like what i run my gennies on.

So I did two builds today, after a long shift, with one break with my gas-station disposable. 2 inch square 270 mesh. Rolled around a 2mm stick. Took it off of that. Kept rolling mesh on my little Chid Allen key, till it fit loosely in the wick hole. Two juice-burns on the wick-- to stiffen it. Coiled off of the atty--left the Allen key in the wick as a brace. Installed wick/coil. Pulsed --popped one coil :( . When all of the coils glowed even, put in a fresh battery, pulsed some more. Added juice. 3 wrap 32 kanthal--1.9-2Ω--a middle-aged ladie's vape that doesn't turn my Ry4 into my mother's Lenten tuna-casserole. I have to use my fill-plugs now...

No pix, hands too sore from fixing my wiper-blades. Looks like any gennie :D

I think that the problems that I get, from the pulse-method builds, is that spot right at the top, where the lead goes to the positive pin. 32g wire is particularly tricky to work with, and wants to short out @ the pos end, if the tension is not right. If i don't use enough finesse, during the pulsing out of the coil, that wire starts to break, just a bit, and eventually breaks. 270 mesh wicks this 50/50 pgvg juice really well. Not going to take any gennies to work today, tho they are vaping well image.jpgimage.jpg

That's what I'm working with right now. Bored out that insulator so I can fit a fat wick in there with space left over. Full battery the fill plug needs to be out(.5 ohms). I generally tilt it to 180 or a little past that for a second and then slowly tilt it back down to 45 for the best flavor/vapor. When I get to 45 there's usually a good throat hit. Thats 24Ga, one of the coils is a little loose because I shifted the coils and the wick isn't perfectly even, but it vapes like a champ so I dont care too much.

I had a coil since August that had one of those loose coils like you mention and I too left it alone since it was working and wicking so well. Just broke it down for recoil the other day and it's been a ..... to get working the same again. There's probably a life's lesson somewhere in that. :D

So, i think I'm going with this:

On my Standard Dids (the geese)--
50mm 270 mesh, rolled around a 5/64 Allen key
Torch mesh twice, torch after rolling, 4 or so juice burns

3 wrap 30kanthal. After working out hot legs, fresh battery. Pulse coil, after its good, fill with juice, pulse it a couple of times, vape

Airhole 5/64. 1.3Ω

On the Did clone (Two-Buck Chid):

Whatever mesh scraps you have laying around.40-50 mm roll solid. Same oxidation as above.

3 wrap 32 Kanthal. 1.1Ω

Airhole drilled out to 1/16

I think i'm gonna call this the 5/64 coil
