so I picked up some 4ohm atty heads for my CE4 and noticed a mute in flavor. I have a mod that is both VV and VW. The guy at the vape store said that as long as I increase the power that i shouldn't notice a flavor loss. Is this true? I previously used 2.8ohm atty head and vaped at 4 watts. Now with these 4 ohm heads i am still at 4-5 watts and think i have experience a loss in flavor. is this normal, or did i just get a dud atty head?

Depends upon the flavors that you're using.

Not all juice flavors enjoy being cooked at high temperatures. Granted I prefer a cooler vape, but I rarely go over 5 volts. My voltage range is between 3.4v and 4.8v.

For fruit flavors, they taste best @ 3.4v - 3.7v, any higher and they tend to taste burnt. I like my coffee flavors between 4.2v - 4.8v. I have a couple of cinnamon flavors that I might run up to 5.6v, but usually prefer them around 4.8v

So, a 2.5 - 3.0 ohm single coil carto works best for me.

Another thing, my experience has taught me that any string-wicked delivery device will have trouble giving nice flavor consistantly. If you think about it, string-wicked devices only have 2-4 strands delivering juice to the heating coil - that's a pretty small surface area.

A cartotank on the other hand has all that polyfill soaked in juicy flavor and totally surrounding the heating coil. That's a lot of surface area. I'll take cartotank over a string-wicked device seven days a week.

The Safe Vaping Power Chart is reference flowsheet often used as a general guideline to help select the best ohm to use within a range of either watts or voltages used.

According to it, both resistances that you were using at 4 - 5 watts is an optimal (green zone) selection. Actually, 4-5 watts is a little on the low side. Many people use around 8-9 watts. Sounds like you prefer a cool vape, too.

So, you could have a bad atty in that clearo. I think their consistancy is rather wonky to begin with. But that is my own prejudice.
