SPECIAL EDITION 2011 CE2-X Cartomizers

For those who don't know, the original release of these things was a huge flop and they are widely discussed with contempt. The problem was two fold... the wicking did not draw the juice well enough so a couple of good hits and you'd have to wait or shake it before you could get another hit. But the kicker was that if the wick wasnt COMPLETELY saturated you vaped this REALLY nasty chemical taste. I think people smarter then me concluded it was some kind of anti-bacterial chemical on the wicking that the factory did for some reason beyond me and they figured out if you took the thing apart and fluffed the wick and then took a butane lighter (one of those blue flamed things) to the wick you could clean the nasty gunk off. Incidentally, the modders liked them because if you went through all those steps they were ideal for MAP tank mods and such and supposedly worked well.

I had the stainless ones which did not come apart like the clear ones so I couldnt do that and they ended up delegated to my "box of shame". Besides who wants to do all that work for something that should work out of the box. My complaints to the vendor were largely unproductive so the whole experience was a lesson learned.

I am still so scorned over my last purchase of these things that I will wait for one of you nice people to try it first. :p

I wouldn't even post about it but I can't help but want these to work because the design seems so great to me. Horizontal coil... no polyfill... no drip drip wait, just squirt your juice in and go and also you can actually drip right onto the coil of these if you want to.

So... now I guess they are using fatter wicks and pre-burning them to resolve the issues... dare I give them a second chance?

how does that saying go... "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

That is why they don't disclose manufacturers. Michelle, good points on your previous posts. I don't fully trust vendors. Loosing faith in Bloog. Didn't like it when V4L presented the WOW as exclusive to them. They are trying to create a brand before it spreads.

Sådan! Its spreading out to other vendors. Thats great news:thumb: Ok i still cant buy there, but it gives me hope, that it one day will come to EU.

I loved the V4L XL manual battery for the horizontal wow LR. The same battery burns the bloog and Ce2. The bloog bat is great with the ce2 2.8-3.0.

They need to get their ohms straigt.... I really like the strong hit u get, from a fresh reg batt, but if i could get the horizcartos, i dont care.. The feel and tech on the mf batts is much better.. The reg batts need brakes, and get airyer and airyer as they drain.. for some obscure reason... The eigate(mf) batts with the new tech keep same good performance from full to emty..But they are specifically designed for a "high performance" haha , carto.
The lower voltage gives longer between charges, but a low ohm carto will vape your juice quicker. You will go through more juice than on, say a coolcart, witch is AFAIK 3,3 ohm.. This doesnt matter to me, as i buy in bulk at LF.... great juice prices.....

Ya but sadly they are 78 mm with orange led's....... bummer...

yes but i like 78's. ;-)
got a black one on the way. no clue what color the LED is. i'll let you know what I think.
I've been absolutely loving my bmf batt with the dripper cartos. Its just the right combo.
So long as these batts perform the same i'm happy.

Opinion:
The Clear CE2 vapes really well but they still aren't quite perfect yet. Some issues still with the clear sleeves cracking and whatnot. I've just ordered some of the metal ones to try out with my KR batteries. If you want to put these in pockets and purses and beat them around...stick with the metal versions.

Note: I've only tried 2.4ohm 510 versons. On my KR808D-1 batteries I use an adaptor. On battery life there are some 50/50 trade offs. They don't last as many drags as my 808cartos...BUT...every single drag is full of flavor and gives clouds of vapor. I can also do 'shorter burns' and get better performance. So to me it's kind of a 50/50 trade off. I just like the way the CE2 vapes better :) I've used these with both KR808 manual and auto, regular and mega batteries. Love it on both types :)

Thanks for the review Credo.... btw. gotvapes came out with another new product:

GotVapes VORTEX 808 Bottom Coil Clearomizer - 1.2ml 2.7ohm 5PK

My buddy ordered some so i'm still waiting to hear his opinion. I thought Drew at nHaler mentioned once that he tried some like these and had issues with them so he wasnt going to sell them. maybe it was something else and i'm confused.

I remember reading something about them also...leaking and cracked tubes...I hope that gotvapes has the kinks ironed out...I bought 2 boxes but don't have them yet.

Cool. We'll await you're review. ;-)
Are those Vortex's standard size cartos or jumbos? I'm on the go a lot and try to avoid cartos that won't fit into my PCC slots...

I'll break down and order some of those and the new CE2-X's to try one of these days... I just can't help but hesitate everytime I go to that guy's site because I was so hyped about the previous CE2 release he had and they turned out to have some nasty chemical taste and wicking issues, etc. and they would never admit to any problems until they came out with the new ones that had thicker wicks and are "pre-burned" to get rid of the chemical nastiness so OBVIOUSLY they knew but pretended not to or there wouldn't need to be a new revision "X". I'm hesitant to be another beta tester for a company like that.

Drew @ Nhaler has got some new items and a restock of cartos. Should be on his site later today.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nhaler/168050-new-kr808-auto-batteries.html#post2956921

He's got the Bloog-a-like batts complete (with the rubberized finish) and more "dripper" horizontal cartos.

BTW, I love this "MF style" or bloog-a-like(tm) batt as much as my actual bloog (which sadly broke and is on its way to bloog for RMA). I just ordered another one and one of these new PCCs:
KR808D-1 Smart PCC

I'll try to remember to post a review of it later. His descriptions are a bit lacking but he's got a demo video of it which is more descriptive: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nhaler/166846-new-smart-pcc-kit.html#post2971929

Got some of these Vortex to try. I really like them right out of the box so far, with KR808D-1 (autos and manuals) and eGo batteries both. Can't wait to try the lower resistance one when the become available. We'll see how long they last...if they last like the CE2 (metal or modded sleeve) I'll probably keep a mixed stock of Vortex and the smaller CE2metal (better price than the XL).

Vortex is definitely MUCh easier to set up than the CE2...then again, I found the CE2 to be easy too...just use a syringe :) Even back at ver4 when I'd pop them open and burn them off, it was worth it to me for the way they vape so easily :) More like smoking an analogue ciggy, and less like sucking on a sock.

hmm i think the ce2's taste like i think a dirty sock would....

It's different for sure. Nothing to burn in a CE2...silica rope...............torch it till it's white hot and it doesn't burn or give off chems.

The others...
Polyfill steeps around the coil...at least two different types of 'fibers' in those. Most of mine actually have 3. A cloth like patch in the very bottom under the coil. The ridged tube up the middle, then the poly-fill itself.

Yes...I agree some flavors benefit from a poly-fill steep. Also, flavor is effected as you pull air through the middle of that stuff and pick up more 'raw unvaped flavor' off your pool of liquid. I.E. Suck on a Boge without doing a burn, hints of the liquid flavor still come through pretty strong. Not so much with a CE2.

Variety in cartos is good. Some juices work better in one carto than other...

S'all cool tho'...I'm glad there are options out there, as they all have good stuff to offer.

Yeah, but I had the stainless steel ones. Couldn't take them apart to burn the wicking and wasn't going to order anymore because i don't think my cartos should need to be that much effort to get working properly. I read somewhere that the nastiness was some kind of anti-bacterial spray used during mfg process that was getting onto the wicking and thats why burning it off works.

Had a question about the Vortex's... 1.2ML makes me think they are probably jumbo size cartos... I mean will they fit in my standard 808 PCC slots do you think or are they longer than the regular size cartos?
