That might be a loaded question here at ECF because 36 mg is the highest that the forum will allow to be marketed here. I am not going to say what I think is safe because there are so many variables for that with each person depending on what your tolerance is. I will tell you this.

My mom is/was a heavy smoker (3pad +) for more than 60 years. She started out vaping with us 2 years ago and 42 - 46 mg nic is what it took to get her off the cigs. Now, that is high but she had one heck of a tolerance/need for the nic. Using 36 mg juice did not even make a dent in her nic cravings.

There is my :2c:

By coincidence I just commented on this on another forum, so I'll repeat it here:

I vape 36 mg. Tried some 24mg or so and it didn't seem to work for me.

However, I was amazed to find that I only vape 1 mg of juice a day, so my total nicotine consumption is probably lower than many. Even though I seem to have the thing in my hand most of the time !

You know, I have been trying to drop my nic and I am finding the exact same thing to be true. The lower I go, the more I vape. You have a very good point there.

It's nic/time! I was a heavy smoker and vape 24/mg (moving down)... But it nic/time! I can chain pound a ton of 24/mg with some coffee... So if you want less hits/session then go higher nic... if you plan on chaining then go lower... I'll load up some really low juice for long chaining sessions like a party. So there is no right answer as it depends on your habits. 10 hits of 24mg in 5 min>>> 1 hit of 36 mg in 5 min. mg/time! not just mg!

Ive dropped from 24mg to between 10-14mg now. 14mg mostly for mornings. I found that I also had my PV's in hand most of the day and vaped alot. Over the past couple weeks im making a more conscious effort to put my PV's down and Im vaping less but it takes some effort and conscious thought. If I need a vape I take it, then walk away.

I drop my top tier nic level 2mg every 2-3 weeks. Last week the highest I used was 16mg. Now its 14. Then it will be 12.... etc. When I mix juices I mix for future use. My most vaped recipes are the ones with the lowest nic content. My morning vapes have the highest.

It's been my experience that the additional joose usage levels out after awhile. I went from 24mg to 18mg and my joose intake went up for about three days, but when I went from 18mg to 12mg it went up for about three weeks.

I had made it down to 0mg and was comfortable until the spousal unit started smoking again. I don't blame her for my addictions but I started smoking again for a few weeks and am now back up to 25mg and it's working pretty well.

I guess when I get ready to reduce nic again I could either not worry about the increased joose usage or maybe taper things off a little slower, like going from 25mg to 21mg, then 18, 15, 12 and so on. Both approaches make sense to me so I'm not sure yet which route I'll take.

.....I initiated this post because I'm going to be making juice for my nephew, who is overseas in the military. He vapes 36 mg and uses 2 to 3 ml per day. I thought if I made his juice a little stronger 40mg to 46mg, he might consume less. I wanted to know if you guys thought this level was safe.
.....He and his 2 brothers are responsible for getting me into vaping and I quit analogs after 55 years of smoking because of them. I'm starting to make juice for all of them, so I guess it is PIF time for me.
.....Thanks for all the help, guys.

If your nephew is only using 2-3mL a day it would seem 36mg suits him. Vaping can be as much about the hand to mouth action as the nicotine. 3ml a day isn't particularly heavy usage, closer to the average.

Upping the nicotine level would be indicated if he was still heavily craving a cigarette right after vaping. Or that he may need to supplement his vaping with snus.

I have been at this awhile and have done well dropping by 2mgs at a time. Some folks are more sensitive to the nicotine and I have found my limits :)
