It was quite entertaining to watch my son (a 34 year old engineer) put his first gas grill together.
When he started, I told him that a friend of ours just put one together and it took four hours, and he kind of snickered at that.
He only had to take things apart about four times and of course all things aligned and went together nicely.

You all would have been proud of me, I didn’t laugh.
But I can now because it took him over four hours.:lol::lol:
I was very proud though because he didn't loose his temper once.

AH! God, I hope my husband doesn't see this..it can only lead to things like,

"hon!"
"Yes, Brian"
"Kathy!"
"YES, BRIAN!"
"Oh for Ch. sake...KATHARINE!!"
"I've answered you 3 times!!"
"Well, here, take your matches and lean over the vents and let me know when everything comes on, 'kay? I'm downstairs here fiddling with the gas line.."

Yes, he built an indoor bbq. Did it in the back patio. Scares the hell out of me.

Also..........

If there's one thing in life I have learnt it is that Women generally are better at well......... Almost everything!
Even constructing BBQs :D

Kinda pisses me off but I'm Man enough to admit it.

I didn't think I'd ever meet a guy who'd admit it.
 Better reread to make sure I did read it.

I'll give him this..he's good at these things. Took him a month of Sundays to finish it of course, but most people assume it came with the house.

The only thing that DID happen to him was when we was installing the vent above it..he was standing on the BBQ part with his arm up there putting the sleeve in position and got his arm caught! I wasn't home at the time either.

However, the dog DID come out, look at him just standing there, doing NOTHING and decided she would take THIS opportunity to look for a few treats and barked at him for over half and hour so he'd stop doing NOTHING and GET her something.

She was a Doberman.

I don't know how many of you have been around a Doberman long enough to hear their bark..they sound like Yorkies or something..very high pitched and LOUD.

She's lucky he loved her when he finally managed to get his arm free...but, he DID spend the night asking her why she hadn't just gone to the phone and called ME for help.

"Woof!"

"What's that you say Missy? Brian's got his arm caught down the WELL? Oh. Well, I'm shopping, tell him I'll be back in a few hours..."

I let my wife do things like that. She is much more likely to actually read the instructions. I won't that's for sure. I'm likely to get mad and take it out on the poor helpless do-dad I'm trying to assemble.

I much prefer to BBQ rather than grill. However I'm lucky, I have an orchard so I never run out of apple wood. Pear and cherry are nice as well.

Ever try a BBQ pear smoked over apple wood?

As for my wife I make it up to her for making her assemble things by being the spider killer (she hates spiders).

I got this from the Famous Quotes thread…

“Behind every Great man there's always a woman rolling her eyes... ”

Tell me about it...here's the other side of the room.also built by him...Neither one of us drinks btw....

bbq003-1.jpg

The BBQ, for the perspective of the photos, would be on the left side..see the door there? Well, when you come down the stairs, the BBQ is on the left and the bar is on the right.

There was a LOT of eye rolling with THIS one.

P.S. He's mad at me for taking this picture last night because he was in the process of moving the lawn furniture outside, etc. and it wasn't looking PERFECT. I offered to help and he told me to 'GET IN THE HOUSE WOMAN!! PUT UP YOUR FEET, SMOKE YOUR LITTLE PRECISE AND STAY OUT OF MY WAY!!'

God, I love that man...

The perfect addition to a Man Cave. A bar with a cash register. And subterrianian at that. Excellent.

Ha! Now, if only we DRANK!

And, it's not really subterrianian, where the stairs come down there used to be just right outside. He built the whole 'pub'/patio in there. There's sliding glass doors on the OTHER side that lets out to the backyard.

Took him awhile, but he's a real perfectionist. See those dark colored beams on the sides? Railroad ties that he sandblasted and stained to make them look like that!

Yup, I'm proud of him! :)

Oh, and that's where I USED to smoke. It was MY husband that used to open the sliding door there and SCREECH out, "Katharine!! KATHARINE!! (cough cough) The house is on fire!! (cough, cough) Don't worry kid, I'll get you out!! (cough, cough) Just stay low!! (cough, cough) Oh, never mind Payton, (our daughter), it's just your mother SMOKING, you can take that wet towel off your head now..." before shutting the door again.

That's okay. He'll be 72 in a few weeks. I just tell him that, when he's old and feeble, he's gonna get it....
