Hissing

I have been unable to find any e-cig which does not make a hissing noise when I inhale and my jack russell terrier (dog) completely has a panic attack every time she hears that noise. Does anyone know of an e-cig I could use which would not make any hissing or crackling sounds when inhaled?

Oh I've tried counter-conditioning/de-sensitizing the dog to the sound. That just isn't working and I really feel like the c-cig could actually work as a quit method for me :-(

The sound is caused by either burrs/shavings around the air hole or from drawing too much air too fast on the inhale. Check the smoothness of the metal around the airhole. If there is a ridge or lip there, use an emery board to smooth it out. If it is smooth, try inhaling a little slower.

I am sorry, please don't give up. It is a good way to quit analogs.

I know that all of my RDAs have some sound due to the air flow, however, my egos with clearos on them have very little if any sound. None of them bother any of my animals, but perhaps your dog would appreciate your switching to something with a less air. Not sure what you are using, you didn't mention it in your post.

inhale slower, because every single ecig, tank, atty, and such will make some sort of whistle, pop, hiss and gurgle no matter what. Not enough to bother most humans but enough to freak the living daylights out of a high strung panic prone Jack Russel.

different setups are going to sound different.

there are topcoils, bottom coils, there are wide bore driptips and narrow bore drip tips.
If the sound you are refering to is due to airflow, there's all kinds of different airflow, like there's airflow that comes up from below the coil, and there's airflow that comes in from the side of the coil in rda's and genesis types.

a hissing sound due to airflow also depends on how hard you draw; I guess if you draw hard enough on any ecig there will be a hissing sound.

If you require a tight draw, then you'll probably tend to get hiss; if you're happy with a wide open airflow, you can get a system that does that and less likely get hiss.

Sorry someone gave me 2 of the V2s last year and everyone has said that all of them make some hissing so I have been reluctant to buy another one if it is going to cause the same problem. What is ego with clearos?

The only one I have that does not hiss is my V2 Pro Series 3 not a peep.

dogs have a keen sense of smell.

it might just be the smell that the dog is reacting to and not the sound.

Perhaps a "Tunder Shirt", I know they are advertized as a soothing device for nervous Dogs, maybe worth a try. If not try stuffing a few coton balls in his ears to mute the sound. Hope this helps you out. Welcome to the Forum.
