Historic anti-smoking vote to give FDA new power

Well it says they can't ban nicotine or tobacco but I see this being the end to all the flavored E-juice's. Probably just keep menthol and the cig flavors.

I think the most ridiculous part of the bill is the banning of flavored tobacco. I mean come on...so many things are banned or restricted in the US (not just cigarettes) because of peoples' fear of them reaching children. NEWS FLASH, children are probably more apt to buy a bag of weed than they are a pack of cigarettes, no matter what flavor they are (weed is probably easier to come by for the under 18 crowd anyways).

If they eventually ban flavored ejuice, than I suppose it's not the end of the world...there is always the option of mixing (watch them try to ban LorAnns, lol).

This whole ordeal is representative of what is wrong with America. Too many people here want to impose their own ideology on everyone else. Gun control, abortion, smoking, drinking, etc. etc. There can be rules in place, but in the end we deserve the freedom to do what we want to our bodies and live our lives how we want as long as it doesn't become a threat to the people around us.

Sorry about the rant, LOL.

It just kills me to think that our gov't allows us to light up cancer sticks that contain so many harmful chemicals, but, refuses to allow an alternative obviously less harmful product as an alternative.

I guess this is why this forum exist with such adamancy!

No mystery at all. The bill was essentially authored by Philip Morris lobbyists and was designed to protect their market dominance while outlawing innovations released by R.J. Reynolds in the last few years. All the government did was facilitate an anti-competitive maneuver by one tobacco company against another.

They can do what in the past has been done with alcohol, "machine guns" and marijuana.
Require a new tax stamp to sell it and then never produce or issue a stamp.
That effectively bans whatever product they want and has already been upheld by the supreme court.

Wonder where this is going to go......

LOL. I saw that on the history channel yesterday. You couldn't apply for the fictitious stamp unless you had the illegal item in your possesion. But if you had the illegal item in your possesion it was a felony. Being that there is no actual stamp to give, you would go directly to jail without passing GO. This was a nice cheap and easy way to arrest people.
