Yahoo has an article entitled:

Historic anti-smoking bill aims at stopping teens

and contains the folowing statement:

" Specifically, the measure for the first time will give the Food and Drug Administration authority to regulate what goes into tobacco products, demand changes or elimination of toxic substances and block the introduction of new products."

Would this "new products" happen to be PVs? 8-o

Basically. This bill is basically the death warrant to millions of smokers. They will decrease the amount of nicotine, requiring smokers to inhale more smoke and deeper, increasing lung cancer risk. It will eliminate alternate safer products, (such as the e-cig). But most notably will cement Philip Morris as king of cigarette makers as the restrictions of advertising and introducing new products will kill the smaller tobacco companies, along with allowing PM to develope those "alternate" methods. And being "FDA Approved", people will think it's safer to smoke and will introduce new smokers, thinking it's safer now that the FDA has control. Along with eliminating ALL flavors except Menthol (Funny that PM is the BIGGEST menthol cigarette manufacturer in the US. No surprise there!). Yup, this is a nice bill alright. I'm pretty sure that there are people reading this warning will end up dead because of it.

Among other things, yes. This also pulls alot of RJ Reynolds newer smokeless lines - the snus, the orbs, strips, sticks and dissolvables - straight off the marketplace, because they're "candy flavored to attract children." Psht! Don't get me started again on that lame excuse.

It's a blow, TBS - but there is alot of verbiage in the bill that could be open to intrepretation -

PV's down, but NOT out.

Since the entire article is about tobacco, I would think they meant new tobacco products, but who knows.

Here's another quote:

"the bill prohibits an outright ban on nicotine or cigarettes"

Lowering the nicotine in cigarettes is a great way to get smokers to smoke more, spend more money on cigs, tobacco makes more money, people get cancer or other nasties, pharma makes money, the gov makes money, the alternative to cigs is banned, everyone is happy. Except the dead smokers.
