hi,

just started posting but been reading for a while now...as you can see on my join date

quick question on making a thunder cloud of smoke...

microcoils or just a reg3/4 wrap on 4 folds of 2mm wick using a 30g wire?

here is what i plan

microcoil..30g wire..plan to hit a 1.4 ohm resistance(dont know how to do that yet)
or the normal build of 4 folds
or 8wicks of 2mm wicks silica the same gauge 3/4 wrap...

i plan to actually do 3/4 wraps on 30g but use cotton instead...but cant seen to find the right thing to wrap the wire to so that it gets the same thickness of 8 2mm silica wicks,,,,

You might also try butcher's twine. Already food grade material, and it's cotton. Several people have used it here on ECF.
Shorter the wire, the less the resistance (also lower the gauge for less resistance). You might have to go down to 28 gauge to get 1.4 on microcoils.
