Hi all, I'm a noobie here.

Been reading through some of the info trying to learn about this so I can choose what to buy. I've gone to a couple regular old smoke shops here in Las Vegas and they are HORRIBLE for giving information or guidance. So I have yet to buy anything.

I'm a pack a day smoker of Pall Mall Green 100's. I've been a smoker for basically 40 yrs and I can't stand what it's done to me. I MUST QUIT.

But I still have no idea where to start, what to buy to start. I need no less than a 1 week supply minimum also. And that's just to cover me for my 1 day a week to go shopping and run errands including buying cigs if I have to.

I saw some math on the issue of mg of nicotine etc, but still don't really have it down.

Not meaning to hijack op's thread, but my guidance question is similar. Any suggestions on where to start in terms of type/brand of ecig and mg or whatever, plus any needed addons to last me would be awesome.

In the meantime, I'll keep trying to learn and get through the information overload phase.

Hi Fishead59 and welcome to ECF.
Battery Info: 100 mah= 1 hr of normal vaping before battery needs recharging. Batteries are good for about 250- 300 recharges.

Mg is the nicotine content in the juice. Comes in 6, 12, 18, 24 and 36 mg.
Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG

Doe the size of the PV matter- cig sized or a little larger? What is your budget for the starter kit?

You don't mention what size you can deal with. If you want a cigarette size, I'll stay out of it. If you can deal with one about the size of a Sharpie, my personal recommendation is a KGO (two batteries and charger), and atomizer to taste juice with, and either some Vision V3s or Kanger T3s. You're going to hear other recommendations, and they're great too, but those are my personal preferences for starting up (and I still use them, although I have upgraded since.)
Oddly enough, I smoked your brand. I've been bouncing around (and I admit, nothing tastes like a real cigarette). A cheap start might be a few menthols from Blue Mist Vaping (I like Smooth and Robacco Menthol). Get small bottles first, you may not like them. I've got a second order placed with Mount Baker Vapor, but I haven't received them yet. I hear good things about them, though.

I just started and got a lot of help from these fine people. This is what it lead me to and I couldn't be happier:

Kit for starters: https://www.hoosierecig.com/V2-1100mAh-KGO-Kit-_p_10.html

I also grabbed one of these, but after the fact. I would recommend you do when you order to save on shipping. Well worth it for convenience for a newbie as well as production:

https://www.hoosierecig.com/Vision-Nova-Tank-Clearomizer-V3-Mega_p_136.html

As far as juices, I go here. They might not be the best but the price point is great until I figure out what type of juice I really do enjoy the most:

https://www.mtbakervapor.com/

I get the 24mg 65/35 mix. Love it. I was close to you smoking wise.

Not quite but thank you for the compliment. The Kgo that you recommended...I LOVE mine and it truly is a workhorse. I believe it's the best PV in the eGo class. Have had mine for over a year and still firing great.

You know, I smoked that same brand too. Depending on what you'll be vaping on, I've found a good flavor coming off that brand is Cool Rush menthol 18mg from liquidxpress with a little bit of Menthol Burst 16mg from Volcano e-liquid added in. About 80% Cool Rush to 20% Menthol Burst gives a nice kick and that same Pall Mall harsh at higher voltages or lower resistance.

Ok so I looked through the abbreviations section to make sure I got your above correct.

Size isn't super important. I do need to be able to stash it in a side pocket of a fanny pack I have to wear at work so I can easily get to it to light up on breaks. I normally have a full 100's pack in this pocket and it fits with some room.

No idea where I should start on Mg, and I need to order enough to last no less than 1 week, prefer two weeks because of shipping times.

I can budget $100-$200 and as anyone else, less $ makes me happy, but quality and meeting my needs is more important.

The Kgo fires at a decent 3.7 volts and is a workhorse-. Starter Kit would cost $43.00 without juice. Juice is roughly $10- $12 per 30 ml. Average vaper uses 3-5 ml per day.

Most new vapers begin @ 18 or 24 mg nicotine.
If you don't mind the extra size I'll be back with another suggestion AND some bricks and mortar store in Las Vegas- they will allow you to sample juices if you have your own PV. Picking a juice that tastes good is really tough. Back in a minute.

Edit: Bricks and Mortar- understand prices will be slightly higher but you could save a lot by not "guessing" at what tastes good:
Pink Spot Vapors: Gourmet E-liquid & Signature E-Juice Flavors
SinCityVapor, Electronic Cigarettes in Las Vegas

Here's an ECF listed/ verified vendor that sells the Kgo Starter Kit- already posted by Baums:

Here's another slightly larger choice is the Spinner. It's a min variable voltage PV- fires from 3.3- 4.8 volts- comes in 400 mah up to 1300 mah. Some juices taste better at higher or lower voltages. Starter Kit would cost about $70.00
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...5905-visions-ego-vv-spinner-gotvapes-usa.html
And a review of the Spinner...disregard the Vendor as he's located in Canada:

Overall the Kgo would suffice BUT most eventually move up to Variable Voltage- may cost a little extra but you would be skipping a step in regards to PVs.

I own the Kgo and the Spinner and am very happy with both. I use a Vision (brand name) Mini Vivi Nova Tank as the delivery system (holds and vaporizes the juice)
Clearomizer (includes the Stardust and the Vivi Nova Tank)- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. The rebuildable clearos/ tanks come with heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply ($2.00) and easily (10 secs) replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My Vivi Nova heads are lasting about 8 weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. They still fire great but the wicking begins to shred/ disintegrate. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw. Always make sure it's the Vision brand.

I am also a Newbie. I have been scowering this site and do not understand all the symbols, liquids and cig styles. I just bough a Blue, 24 mg. Is there anywhere on this site that compares the "Brand Names" and strengths, styles and the pros and cons of each?

I was told about SinCityVapor a week ago and approx location. Couldn't find it. All I had to do was go 1 block further! I just called them and they seem very knowledgeable and willing to guide/help. Thanks for that info! I don't mind paying a little more for good customer service. I'm going to save in the long run anyways!

Great. You will be saving $$ eventually but your health is priceless. Good Luck with the visit. "IF" you do purchase a PV from them STAY FAR AWAY from the outdated "tank" system (cartridge+ atomizer) they eventually leak and there are far better tank/ delivery systems available. Many, but not all, vendors include this "tank" system with starter kits.
Best of Luck.

Being a former menthol smoker (like I was) seems to be an advantage when you first start vaping. Part of what we liked was the "coolness" - which is actually a sensation more than a flavor. In addition to menthol flavors there is a wide variety of mints for you to try. It can be difficult to taste e-liquid flavors at the beginning, especially after you've smoked for over half your life and trashed your taste buds, but menthol and mint are often the easiest to start with.
