Hello,

I've been on and off e-cigs for about six months... I've read stuff on this forum, but didn't bother to register until now. I had quit cigs completely, but then I was on a trip and my g4 leaked, and my backup g4s were the wrong threading so I broke down and bought a pack of royals.

So now I'd really like to pick up a kit that looks like a cigarette, but still provides massive vapor and taste. What are the best cigarette facsimiles these days? My friend had something 'Seven', and it produced great vapor (though he told me it was a fresh cartridge, which apparently matters.). But I can't remember the name or website.

These g4s are just too damn leaky. They just empty themselves at random, whether 2 days old or 2 weeks. I'd never risk having one in my pocket. Plus the madvapes box looks like a garage door opener. May as well try something that looks better. So could someone recommend a good, reasonably priced e-cig starter kit? With one of those charging cases?

thanks!

Just don't buy FS510 - it's reverse polarity. Whatever you buy make sure it's the same electrical polarity as a real Joye 510.

And BTW Joye 510 is only 180mah (100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping)

The mega xl Joye 510 is 280mah but long - 128mm w/ a cartomizer

Since you are getting manual batteries, get a drip tip too for testing juices on the atomizer

5 posts and an approx hour wait for a mod to look at your posts and make sure they are not spammed for post count

A few weeks ago, my wife bought me a SmokeTip Kit which has the KR808-1 battery ($59.95 with 6 filled cartos), with a 10 pack of assorted carto flavors (a high priced $19.95 already filled), but they sell NO juice........ and until I get my REO or ProVape or Janty Stick or Nhaler Box Mod.......I haven't decided which yet, it'll suit my needs. It looks like a regular smoke, hits well, the battery lasts about half a day (there's 2 in the kit so I switch off), and I've refilled the cartos often and they last about half a day of moderate to not quite heavy vaping for over 3 weeks now with no problems. Good vapor hits. There are probably a lot of other better ones, and at less cost, especially for the accessories and cartos (you can ALWAYS find stuff cheaper if you look around), but this does have a Travel Charging Case ($18.95), a USB pass through (19.95), USB and wall charger (are included in the kit) and spare regular and high capacity batteries ($18.95 & $24.95). No leaks ever, and I carry it around in my pocket all day long. It is of a higher quality than the gas station crap, and it has been reliable, and so far no complaints...... til I get what I really really want thanks to all I've learned here at ECF. Again, read all you can here from peoples' recommendations and experiences and decide for yourself. Happy hunting!! 32 days smoke free!!

...would a 510 or a 510T be a better starter for a beginner?????.........................:2cool:

I'd avoid the tank systems until you've used e-cigs a while and are sure it's where you wanna go. From my experience there is too much upkeep involved in keeping the system happy and it turns more new users away than it helps.

The Volt is definitely a good option. I'm not sure if they have a white/orange "...." version, but I know the Smoov does, which is similar to a Volt (KR808 based, has the same PCC as the Volt, smaller air hole in the automatic batteries). Although from what I've read and seen the Volt is still the better choice.

First question, how important is looking like an analog compared to how well it works long term?

If looks is the most important, the suggestions hear are a good starting point.

If long term function is more important, I would suggest going with something like the eGo-T tanks system with 1000mAh batteries. I vape 2-3 ml a day and a single battery last me all day with power to spare. My preference is for tanks system simply for the flexibility but my kit came with empty carts too if that's your choice. Size wise it's about like sucking on the end of a Sharpie, so no big deal for me but you may want/need something smaller, your choice.

Your biggest obstetrical to getting a good constant vapor production and thus good flavor, is the size of the battery. Go too small for looks alone and you will suffer the need to carry several with you as they will drain faster, and may burn out faster too under the strain.

The other point I make is that manual batteries seem to work a bit better and last a tad longer. Mainly because your finger on the button is controlling the vapor production not some automated switch. The automated switch requires a restricted air flow channel to function properly so you have to suck longer and harder to get the same results.

Hope this alternate viewpoint is helpful and good luck. :)

If looks is of utmost importance for You, I'd suggest a Bloog Maxx Fusion from Bloogplanet. It's a bit on expensive side, but works as advertized and is assembled in the US. You can get it with PCC charger which charges 2 batteries on the go, and holds a few cartos. Batteries are automatic.
That is in fact KR808D-1, but with US branding and quality controll.

Don't do tank versions if you don't want to chance a leak. I dont how how closely you want to be to a real cig. If you just want a stick type, not a box, you can expand your search to include Riva and the other fat batteries. They are about the size of a short cigar. Well balanced. Most do not have a LED end. But they last significantly longer, and are the same price or maybe $5 more per SET. Some can be turned with a few bottom clicks. There is also a button protector you can buy for $1.
I prefer the warmer vape of a Riva, but eGos are good too. They also use the more popular 510 connection.

What VClouds said.

Personally, I don't think there is a "good" e-cig that looks like a cig. Technology hasn't advanced to the point where a cigarette sized battery will provide power for any length of time. Small batteries equal small power output.
The "looks and tastes like a real cigarette" requirement is probably the most common beginner mistake. You'll never find anything that tastes like an ash tray in liquid form, and you're probably better off with the anti-smoker people if you have something that doesn't confuse them too much. "HEY!! He's smoking in a no smoking area! *cough cough* Make him stop!"
Besides that, you'll get really disgusted when your cigarette sized battery goes dead after 2 hours and there is nowhere to plug in a charger.

But on the other hand, I don't much care for the eGo-T either. Too much effort involved in making one work right.

My own recommendation for folks wanting to get into the hobby (yeah it IS a hobby) is the regular eGo. Not the tank versions. The eGo comes with a cart/atomizer combination which is less than ideal but is easy to learn on and the eGo batteries are decent for power output. Especially if you get the 900 or 1000mAh options.

As you get comfortable with it, get some good cartomizers and since batteries don't last forever, get a couple of eGo-T batteries. The eGo-T tanks are a mess, but the 5 click on/off system is a godsend. I wish they would start using them in the eGo's. The "T" batteries are fully compatable with all regular eGo accessories as well as other 510 threaded devices. They also use the same charger so you won't have to keep them sorted out.
On a side note, some vendors do carry eGo's with the eGo-T batteries. I know Cignot has that option and I would imagine others do as well.

Later on you'll want to get into more esoteric stuff, but the eGo is a good place to start.

Just my opinion.
