Hi there! I'm a non-smoker, totally new to the vaping thing, and I'm actually looking for an E-Cigarette or E-Cigar to use onstage as a prop when I DJ in night clubs. i searched the forum and found some threads on E-cigs as props but they weren't specific to my situation. I do Electronic music and my goal is to find the most flashy E-Cigarette possible, so i'm going for more of a "digital" E-cig vibe versus "analog" E-Cig vibe. Basically looking for recommendations on E-cigs/Cigars that:

  • look like something the Terminator, Robocop or NEO from the matrix would smoke (digital but still something a "dude" would smoke)
  • has the brightest GREEN or BLUE LED possible. I'm actually thinking of cutting a hole in the tip so you can see the bare LED, versus the muted tips i've seen.
  • has as much smoke as possible, like a massive amount! colored smoke would be even cooler though i'm not sure if that exists :vapor:
  • lasts as long as possible (smoke, LED, battery)
  • has ZERO nicotine
  • doesn't 'taste' like tobacco or menthol (would actually prefer a flavorless option even)
I am open to E-Cigarettes or even E-Cigars! I've been looking for the past few days and I'm pretty lost as to what would be my best bet since my reasons for wanting one are not typical.

I really, REALLY appreciate anyone's help steering me in the right direction. I particularly like the fact that my prop would be promoting a healthier alternative to smoking too, especially to the younger cats :2cool:

As for Zero Nic, Zero flavor, just use pure Vegetable Glycerin (Available at Walmart, Riteaid, etc) Clouds of vapor and only a slightly sweet taste, no real flavor. Obviously no Nicotine.

I have no idea if colors are possible, but being that food coloring is mostly propylparaben, propylene glycol and water, it may work. I have no idea if propyparaben is vaporizable, or even safe to inhale, you may want to check into it, but it could be possible for food coloring to give a colored vape... Once again, more research would be necessary.

Well the vapor is no problem - the most vapor would be pure VG which is USP Glycerin you can buy in CVS or Walmart. You may prefer it with some flavor - you could buy your own flavoring and sweetener. Would be the cheapest way to have 0 nic with a ton of vapor. If you need to think it a it you could us PG (available at OneStopDIYShop as is flavoring and sweetener) Real ecig juices use a combination of PG and VG or just one or the other. VG makes the most visible vapor.

No colored vapor.

A cartomizer (or Ego w/ a tank) would be best - cart+atty needs to be topped off too often with juice.

This would be a bit bigger than a cig and looks nice in steel color - uses cartomizers
PS Ace [KR808D-1]

You can get other colors here and probably 0 nic all-VG cartos you could refill - if you don't want to make your own juice then buy one of their VG 0-nic juices of buy some somewhere else. I also recommend one of the drip tips - will keep your lips cool - some of their cartos get hot if you drag lot:

When you get into the fatter battery units like Ego (elsewhere), I think the light is on the button?

BTW - the LED is not on all the time. I recommend manual batteries for best drags (you will have to drag more/longer with an auto though I guess an auto would look more cigarette like with the extra dragging)

thanks for all the great info!

@cigarbabe and @dong i definitely want to look like traditional smoking so people can still relate/understand what's going on. I'm going for the "what the hell is he smoking" effect, versus the "what is that/why is he doing that?" effect. =)

@zombienerd and @forthwith the mod idea might be a bit over my head since i'm a newb, but i think I'll definitely be giving it a try for the LED!

@dormouse the PS ACE looks definitely looks rad and thanks for the USP Glycerin info. I had no idea that the "smoke" was that accessible and also that these units were so cheap. Looks like i could get this going for under $50?

again thanks for being so helpful everybody!

A wee bit off topic, but considering the negative way in which some people view vaping, could you imagine the response if we used juices that produced colored vapor? We'd have the anti-smoking crowd in the streets with pitchforks and torches, the FDA would declare a "Kill All Vapers" holiday, and the big tobacco companies would be scrambling to find a way to make tobacco products that would have people exhaling a rainbow.

I may be alone in my thinking, but I've had so many years of being treated as a social outcast, having strangers come up to me and say things they wouldn't DARE say to someone they knew, much less someone they didn't know, and have been shamed so often that the idea of someone making a super-fantastical parody of vaping makes me a little uncomfortable. The technology isn't accepted enough as is.

For me, vaping has literally been a life saver and I'm fiercely serious and protective about it.

Please forgive me my sensitivity. :|
