Hello everybody
So I've had this mod for over a week now and I thought I would give y'all a first week review. I know its early but it doesn't take me long to figure out if I like something or not so lets get started.
The mod :
Hohm Tech's Hohm Wrecker G2 Red but with my own little modification to the cut outs ( black sharpy because I'm a Texas tech fan)
Dual 18650 battery
The Atty:
VCMT 25mm rba
Velocity rda
The build:
Nichrome dual coils at 0.29ohms
Kanthal dual coils at 0.45ohms
First thoughts:
When I first got the mod I opened it and it came with the usual, manual some other cards, and a warranty card because as much as it is it better come with one. The only thing that it doesn't come with is a sync cable.
The review:
So as you may know the HW2 (Hohm Wrecker G2 as it will be abbreviated for the rest of the post) main selling point is that it can do temp control with just about any wire including kanthal. Thank god for that finally. And I have to say that I've used both kanthal and nichrome on temp control and have yet to burn the cotton. No dry hits no nasty throat punch from hell burned tasted just nice warm vapor that's full of flavor and could be used as a back up fog machine. Over all I'm really impressed with the way it works. Once you get used to the button combinations and go through the menus and set it at your perfect settings it really rocks. I'm a all in one kind of a guy and this is the right mod for me. Now let's get into the price $135 online (so looking at probably $250 in the shop). That's alot I mean like a ... load but for being the only mod that does what it does and does it very nicely I'm okay with $135. Now I understand that the price may turn alot of people off to it in fact if I had not had some extra money in a vape stuff budget then I would have just passed on it. But for somebody who was falling out of love with vaping and thinking about just stopping this product has relit the fire.
Pros:
temp control on any wire sold at ur vape shops. Not sure about toaster wire and I'm not going to try.....I like my toaster.
Easy menu with fully customizable vape experience.
Comes with a 90 day Warranty
Nice and heavy lets you know your holding a mod when you vaping on it.
Bright screen
Cons:
A pain in the ... to update. If your not very computer savvy then good luck with this. I know what your thinking oh well if I have trouble I'll just call customer service hahahaha ya well they pretty much tell you to look at there website and follow directions.....thanks I'm glad I didn't already think of that.
Customer service is testy. I don't know what hidden files are. The only hidden files that I know about on my computer are some that...well lets not get into that. Anyway in order to update the mod so that it can do temp control on any wire is to download there updater software then the update its self then go into the updater software one the hidden files install the drivers and then update your mod. And the only way I found this out was by Google because the guy on the phone was getting aggravated. He used the well we have sold over 1000 of these and nobody's complained about it before.
Mod not updated out of the box this one is not that big of a deal I mean I know its been out for just a little while but still you bought the damn thing for the temp control but can't use it out of the box.
No sync cable. I mean really they are cheap. Some where in that 135 there must have been room in the budget for a short sync cable.
Final:
All in all this mod is great I love it even with the cons. I can get past those. I would recommend this mod to anybody its a good replacement for just about any mod in my eyes if you do temp control. Thank you guys for reading sorry its so long and I do plan to do a review in 90days when the warranty runs out because that usually when .... messes up. Also will be doing a review on the vcmt.
